I think in my time with the UC they drop colonies on Earth that much I was starting to think it was a meme and I haven't even watched my Origin BRs yet.

So does Vinland Saga has that certain something to possibly blow up like Attack on Titan?

Also, was surprised to find out today that the next AoT season coming fall 2020 will be the last. Means the magan has to end pretty soon.

Yeah, from what I've read it does seem like a common occurrence. Who needs nukes when you have colonies? If I read right there was even one alternate timeline where the equivalent of Wing's inital "Operation Meteor" essentially succeeded.

While true AoT is the most mainstream anime at the moment outside One Piece. I think that is what he meant, if it has something people can cling to like AoT does. Hell I'd say Golden Kamuy is better than AoT as well. JoJo, Murcielago ect I can think of a handful of better series IMO anyway. But like I said AoT is the most mainstream anime/manga series at the moment. What made it blow up? No idea honestly all I know is that my nephew likes talking about it. Maybe the animation?

AoT popularity with season 1 was through the roof. Everybody was talking about it, even non anime fans. The hype definitely died down a lot, but is still there. And yeah with the certain something I meant simply being a good show, but that all of a sudden becomes a massive phenomenon.

Heard a lot of great things about Vinland Saga, so I am super hyped to watch it. Still unsure if I should watch season 1 blind and then read the manga or start the manga now.

AoT has really good direction that took advantage of already great story telling from Isayama (it also helps that he has an active hand in helping the anime) plus the music is 10/10.

Whether or not Vinland Saga up blows up entirely depends on how well it's adapted. It's not like being a popular/good series automatically guarantees you success. See: Tokyo Ghoul.

I doubt it will get to that AoT Seasons 1 level of popularity where even tons of people who don't usually watch anime get into it.
But I think it will be pretty popular since it's a great manga and it's looking like a good adaptation. The setting also has more of a universal appeal than your average anime so that will help too

Also, it's probably going to take a loooooong time to be finished since it's currently moving at a snails pace. It's basically on a monthly schedule but with the chapter length of a weekly release. So assuming Seasons 1 covers a lot of ground it's probably going to be several years before they have enough content for a season 2

And (kinda spoiler regarding the tone): At some point there's a pretty big change in tone and style which will definitely put some people off.

I don't see it getting more than 2 season sadly. The best chapter in the series involves a character doing something completely out of character so that the MC grows. Sadly the hunter bitch drags the series down way too much.

Vinland Saga, Danmachi and DO YOU EVEN LIFT BRO might be the only good things this season. Mauo-Sama might be enjoyable if you like junk food...yes.

I've only read as far as the manga has made it so it does look like he gets a huge cast of female characters. However, the biggest thing is that the dude is overpowered as fuck after the initial arc. It's just silly. Probably will have even more powerful villains later but it's so absurd right away. He does some silly shit like creating magical motorcycles to use.
