I actually like it. I wish Sony would add more tiles on a single pane of glass than the row -> single scroll. I think this looks really nice personally. How does it stack against current dashboard Xbox players?

Tbh what's the difference? Looks the same. Is it just that's there's a little more icons?

From what I've seen the tabs are no long there for mixer, game pass etc.

The idea being if you want to see one of those you click/press/button the one you want and then it's loads thus cutting down on the amount of loading.the dashboard does.

Since I beat Gears 5 last weekend, my Xbox One X is back in the box and in my closet until the second expansion for Metro Exodus gets released in January so I don't really care about the dashboard for Xbox One in general. I just hope they have an excellent dashboard for Scarlett.

I still easily and by far prefer PS4 (and even Switch) because it's just a few tiles and that's it. No clutter, no mess. Quick, easy, simple and fast. I hate it when the dashboard is cluttered and filled with garbage I have zero interest in.

The only thing I really look for in a dash is not being easily able to access the things I have already paid for.

What I really want my system to do is keep trying to sell me things and sign me up for additional subscriptions.

That's the ultimate dash. Just bleeding out for ever, never enjoying anything I've already bled for.

I love posts like this. Who boxes consoles back up? Lol. I haven’t turned my PS4 on in over a year, but it’s still under my TV. Do you live in a box or what?

Also congrats on talking about the PS4 being better in an Xbox thread.

"Since I played the disappointing "Drive Club" ~ which ran at only 30 discrete images per second ~ my Playstation Pro has been walled back up inside the family mausoleum, along with my deceased father, who abused me.

I still easily and by far prefer X1X (and even AIDS) because their respective characteristics bring life into sharp relief, unlike the low frame rate, low resolution graphics of the Playstation, which I have now decided to seal into a drum of cement and drop to the bottom or the Mariana Trench...."

The console UI creators could take some pointers from all these pc frontend developers like Playnite, Bigbox, or even gog galaxy2. They have different goals though, trying to wedge ads in everywhere.

One of the reasons it's in the box is because I only have room for one console in my TV stand and PS4 is my primary. So when I played Gears 5 and the Metro Exodus DLC, my PS4 was packed in the box for the week.

Second reason is there's nothing else for me to play on it until the Metro second expansion and around the same time, I'll give The Outer Worlds a shot since I have Game Pass Ultimate.

Dashboard wise, I have hated Xbox's setup since they removed the "blades" setup early on with Xbox 360.

For the record, my Switch is also boxed up and in my closet. If im not playing the console on a regular and consistent basis and I see it sitting there collecting dust, I'll get the urge to sell it and get rid of it so to avoid that problem, out of sight/out of mind.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Well, it looks more focused, and that can only be a good thing. I still have no idea how they even concocted the current interface - one of the worst UIs I've ever seen.

Looks better, I guess. Then again, I've seen that being said with each iteration of this awful UI. I still think if you're paying for gold, you shouldn't being seeing ads AT ALL.

Still if the speed is better on this thing then I'll take what improvement I can get.

The problem I’ve always had with the Xbox dash, and this coming from somebody who likes it, is the way they deliver content to you. The dash lags because it’s loading new content, and sometimes that depend on several factors, such as your internet speed, the Ms servers, or both.

But the dash will hang while this loads in, and for the life of me, I have no idea why. If the desk simply cached past content, and displayed that until new content was ready to be updated, it would be a much smoother experience. Instead you get weird blank screen of loading tiles sometimes.

Also, the main screen I load up, i don’t care about some of what it shows. Show me my hold rewards, new deals, and new game pass stuff. But I’ve never once clicked on a sponsored ad, again something that shouldn’t be there. And I certainly don’t need to see the last 75 apps Ive used... just show me the game I’m currently playing, as well as any news about that game, any new dlc, and of my friends are doing the same.

So what games are you playing on your PS4 then? The one exclusive coming in the next 12 months because the X would play any multiplat 5x better and makes no sense not to be the primary console.

I really hate the current generation menus, they look like a mess, especially on XBOX One.

Why they dropped the XMB and the Blades menu at some point is beyond me.

Might be an improvement but it's still bad UX if only 10% of the screen is dedicated to the game you turned the console on to play.

Currently playing GreedFall to be followed by Wolfenstein Youngblood since they finally patched the issues majority including myself had with the game at launch. My primary has been PS4 since May 2014. Just because X is stronger doesn't mean that im going to switch over to it. I don't like the console's dashboard or setup. Takes longer to install games off the disc or via download. Same with patches. Also, even while playing Gears 5 OFF-LINE, I would still have a message after quitting the game that told me to connect online despite the fact that I was finishing my gaming session and turning off the console. For me, PS4 is simply the more streamlined, easier and smoother choice. X is more powerful but outside of RDR 2 being native 4K, the differences are minimal. Even Borderlands 3 is said to run and play better on PS4 Pro. I'm not sitting there counting pixels and resolution. Fuck that.

Outside of Forza Horizon 3, Ori and Cuphead, all my digital purchases are on PS4. Just because the console is more powerful, doesn't mean that im going to switch over. Whichever console I choose first as my primary is what it stays no matter what. Last generation was Xbox 360. This generation, it's PS4.

Exclusives wise, for me. It's 23 console exclusives for PS4 compared to 5 for Xbox One. Including the last two Judgment and Gears 5. For 2020, I already have FF7R and Trials of Mana remake for PS4. For me personally, there's no reason for me to switch over with just over a year left until I buy a next gen console.

Also, if Gears Tactics doesn't get a release date by the time I finish the second expansion for Metro Exodus and The Outer Worlds (both will be January for me), the X will be traded in anyway simply because no reason for me to keep it and want to get back as much as possible before next gen hits.

Hope that explains it all. I don't hate Xbox One. It's just not my primary preference in regards to what console I want to play games on. I'll sacrifice the slight resolution bump in exchange for the far better dashboard, faster install/download times (at least for me) and just better overall experience.

But hey, to each their own.

This is the best dash they have made this gen. All I did was add the Games With Gold section to the bottom of my dash and I am all set. :messenger_horns:

So far, the new dash is much snappier, as it doesn't have to load all the stupid tabs (fuck you mixer).

But yeah, the ads suck ass. At the moment, they are at least gaming related on my dash: BL3, Games with Gold, and PUBG.

What is so frustrating about the current dash is that it doesn't show you the stuff you own. Only like the last 3 things you launched. You have to click like 3 or 4 times to see all your games/apps.

Looks good! They do need to bring back the blades for next xbox if they want to win though!

Just give me a long horizontally scrolling list arranged by recently played games

I do not need and do not want to get perma Mixer and perma Game Pass in every update instead of that
