I dunno. She looks fine to me. I don't really get the whole "they're turning all the women in muh games into guys" thing everyone has gotten so hung up about recently, though.

I mean, I get it in cases like ME Andromeda or Control, where their faces looked weirdly deformed and nothing like the model they were supposedly based on. But this? I'd still consider Ellie to be pretty attractive, for what it's worth. But then again, I also have a thing for women that are a bit more on the tomboyish/more masculine side, so maybe that has something to do with it.

These days western devs are trying really hard to make games with strong women and at the same time they remove every hint of femininity in them because they think: feminine features will attract the male gaze and that is sexist! so they have a list of feminine features they try to avoid:

-Hourglass body type? nope, she must have the body type of a teenage muscular boy.
-long hair? no, long hair are sexist, make it short like men's hair.
-big breasts? oh god no, big breasted women are sexist and attract the evil male gaze.
-acting more feminine and have a feminine behavior? we want a strong woman here, femininity is weak, make her act like a man!
-wear a dress? are you crazy!! put her in a man's shirt and pants.
-what about falling in love with a guy? nononono strong women fall in love with other strong women, that's what makes them strong and brave dude.

I had to replay twice to make sure who in this shot was. I seriously hope there is a backstory to how she managed to get those side delts, traps like Bane and a solid upper back. There are women at my gym with a comparable physique and I doubt they are on steroids, so I think no, Ellie is not supposed to be on steroids, just very fit. Olympic athletes are more muscular thn that depending on the discipline.

EDIT: A thought occurs. Whatever tools and techniques that were used to create Ellie's tattoo, we have to assume extra care was taken in terms of hygiene and disposal because Ellie's "unique condition" could cause problems.

Ellie obviously never bit anyone else and saw them change so it's safe to assume she was playing a bluff when she said he was infected. Dina seems ok after a whole night since kissing Ellie and we know from the first game that Sam turned after a night.

I guess it's still possible, the doctor recording says that her cordyceps levels are still high though either way, I'm pretty sure people generally don't bleed all that much when they get tattooed and even if it's post apocalypse, they'd have still used current day salvaged tech to do it with current day hygiene norms (the tattooer would have wore gloves).

It is a bit of a hole that I think needs filled. It's not very clear what the rules are, or if the community Ellie lives in is even aware of her condition. Obviously Joel and Tommy know, but you'd think they would have to tell everyone and how would they react and treat her? It's an interesting set of questions and hope we get answers in the game. Still, it would take some bravery to kiss Ellie not knowing for sure it's safe, so have to assume that somehow Dina knows that, well, let's say "physical relations", even a kiss would be safe.

We are getting a bit off topic in this thread, but this could be an interesting debate.

The funny thing is most opinions in this topic may not be wrong even though they're all over the place. Yea, she would probably not easily be that healthy, but we have no idea how she lives in the game at that point so who knows. Yea, there is a western dev push for a certain type of women being considered strong, but this is Naughty Dog we are talking about who kind of pioneered that theme so of course they will follow it. It's practically company culture at this point.

I thought the idea of her being roided was wrong because she just isn't that jucked up, she's just fit, but something else has just occurred to me that possibly makes this even more nonsensical. Whare, in the world of TLOU, a collapsed society relying on scavenged supplies and basic farming, would she even find a steady enough supply of what would have been illegal steroids (before society collapsed and martial law implement) in the first place? You wouldn't find these things in the ruins of a drug store or hospital even if they hadn't been cleaned out already, so whare?
