Trailer 2

What is this complete and utter trash?

ps. Yeah, you saw it, I'm bringing the old neogaf smiley back

My mom (who is a "person of color", mind you) loved the original TV show growing up. She saw the trailer for this and called to tell me that they made of the angels black and she isn't going to watch it. :messenger_tears_of_joy: It just looks bad, regardless of politics.

BBC website makes a point of starting with the most negative reviews so that they can close out with the theme of it getting a positive reception.

In spite of guff like this:
This time around, The Hollywood Reporter's Beandrea July seemed to enjoy the "fresh, feminist spin" on the story, which also highlights environmental issues.

"Banks brings Charlie's Angels into the modern age with flair, all while unapologetically raising a feminist flag, championing female friendships and subtly making a point about the urgency of the ongoing climate crisis."

One thing I know in life and it is this: Neogaf loves Charlie’s Angels - how dare they mess with our most sacred franchise!!!

3 pages dedicated to this mess, is 3 pages too many - who gives an f? IMO every post on gaf should be dedicated to the awesomeness of the 1st episode of the Mandalorian. We actually got something made with the fans in mind - in 2019!!! That’s incredible!

Bad reviews, bad trailer, an awful director, and the film's obvious agenda will have that effect.
Most of the reviews are positive, moron.

Wasn't the original "feminist" ? I mean the 3 stars were ass kicking women. And why climate change? Its supposed to be a spy/action movie, not Greta's biography.

Anyways to the bomba bin with you. I am shocked its actually hitting the cinema figured this would be straight to streaming fair.

Can't wait for its failure to be blamed on misgynoist toxic males.

I forgot this was coming out.

Naomi Scott is super-duper-hot so I will probably see this at some point, but man.. the trailers make it look ridiculously terrible. Anyone here seen it yet to give a real opinion? I tend to enjoy shit movies as long as they're entertaining/fun to watch.

C'mon dudes, the McG films are stupid but still fun. You guys sit there and be angry over a movie you were never going to watch anyway, I'll be happy to watch my 2nd wife Naomi.

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
Honesty my first thought once the trailer finished was “this is gonna make zero dollars,” not literally but you know what I mean. Definitely doesn’t feel like a box office smash hit but we’ll see.
There's no reason that it couldn't make $0. There's no guarantee it makes its money back.

what's the point of going to the movies to see real sexy dominant girls playing james bond when there's no sexy girls?
Elizabeth Banks is pretty hot.

Elizabeth Banks made ‘Charlie’s Angels’ to celebrate women at work

Actress, producer, and director Elizabeth Banks has one simple reason for making a new version of Charlie’s Angels. “I wanted to show women at work Growing up, I didn't see many portrayals of working women onscreen"

When it comes to inclusivity in Hollywood, Banks believes that paying attention to it ultimately makes good business sense. “When you think about what has been put out in the media, it’s mostly from a cisgendered white male perspective. Everything that’s not that feels a little bit fresher and so it feels like pretty good business. I’m the audience, I want things that I haven’t seen before. My real plea is for men to have enough empathy to go see movies starring women because I’ve been asked to go see movies starring men my entire life, and I’ve happily done so. I don’t know why men don’t return that fucking favor.”

No Ms. Banks. I don't owe you jack shit. I'll decide when to part with my hard earned money to watch your film once you make it interesting for me to watch. And before you accuse me of being a sexist pig, you should know I've watched numerous movies starring and directed by women. Such as Wonder Woman, Zero Dark Thirty, Something's Gotta Give, When Harry Met Sally, and even crap like Frozen.

Asking for empathy from us men to go see your stupid movie strikes me as begging because you don't think you have what it takes to make a film that could catch an audience's interest. We watch movies for entertainment and as an escape, not as an apology to women. Like I said, we owe you jack shit.

More men are better at directing than woman. You don't get a free pass because you have a vagina. Women can make great films too it just seems like there's less of them out there.

Slumber Party Massacre was hella lit bro. Directed by a feminist too.

Never seen this. Not much of a slasher movie fan to be honest.

It's pretty over the top and kinda funny. Not an amazing movie or anything but tons of nudity and dumb stuff. Would definitely get called sexist, misogynistic, etc today but back then it was feminist.

This looks it is to the 2000's films as the Total Recall reboot is to the original... and I hated the 2000's Charlie's Angels.

This is the entire problem. Making movies is hard. It’s much harder when you have to balance putting an agenda on screen, with actual storytelling.

As far as “making business sense”, well, with a 10 million dollar failure of an opening, yeah, it turns out that appalling everyone but your circle of Hollywood elites isn’t exactly a good strategy either.

Boo-hoo. Crying that men won’t see your girl power movie isn’t going to generate sympathy from them. We fucking saw this movie already, more than a decade ago. Nobody asked for Charlie’s Angels to come back... again.

The trailers looked bad. The dialogue was atrocious. The action wasn’t interesting. Most importantly, the film comes off as a try-hard feminist power fantasy that was always destined to have a niche audience.

Banks made what she wanted to make, like Paul Feig did with Ghostbusters or Rian Johnson did with The Last Jedi. Now she has to live with the fact that not everyone is going to like or even care about her vision. Also, like Feig and Johnson, she’s learned to bitch about her failing publicly instead of just accepting that her vision didn’t connect with the masses like she wanted... because of the damned, dirty men.

8M opening weekend and it's bombing in international market too.........MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

with 50M production budget and another 50M marketing, this movie will have to make 150M to break even, it's not coming nowhere near that

The film arrived on tracking with a $12M-$13M start, and really never budged, but sank. That means marketing didn’t work. I heard that a $100M global P&A was first planned on Charlie’s Angels, with the studio now reducing that overall cost greatly to around $50M and pulling back on expensive ads

Let SJW Hollywood choke on their own shit, fuck movies with social agenda

The director seems to think her movie is being unfairly criticized for being an unnecessary remake since supposedly nobody bats an eye about the dozens of Spider-Man movies, etc. So yeah she's playing the gender card already.
