Which 3 games each do you choose: Full-Remake, Visual-Remake, Remaster

Definitions:

Full-remake: Resident Evil Remake with both improved graphics and significant new content beyond qol additions

Visual-remake: OoT 3D or Link's Awakening Switch, same game but wholly new, modern graphics

Remaster: Basically an upscaled version, often with higher res textures, but ultimately the same game, just running in proper 720/1080p/4k, example: .hack//GU trilogy

Let's have a simple, fun, positive (!!1) thread, guys. Instead of just listing the usual mostwanted titles, let's talk about older games. If you don't want any, that's ok, but then this isn't your thread.

The idea is to list one game per above mentioned category. As usual, a little text in addition to the title is welcome to give other users insight into your train of thought.

I'll start:

Full-Remake: Ocarina of Time
Here me out before you groan to death! ;D I think OoT deserves this. I've always been jealous of RE1 Remake, which really took the original RE1 and made it even better. OoT 3D was so ... lame. It was the exact same game. What I want is a game that features the artstyle of OoT's artworks in a completely re-design semi-opwn world game. All new-designed dungeons, wholly new dungeons (let's do that 'temple of light') and much more story. Tell the complete story as we saw in the OoT manga. Voice acting! What's important: this could be an intentional contrast to botw, a traditional Zelda with typical dungeons. I think there's lots of potential in properly remaking this game.

Visual-Remake: Xenosaga Trilogy
Have Monolith Soft redo the game with Xenoblade 2's assets and DONE, BAMM. I sooo want to play this game. Pls make it happen.

Remaster: Opoona
Nobody but me knows this game. If someone knows, he probably hates it. Even I hated parts of it. But holy shit is that a unique, bizarre, special jrpg. Words can't explain, and if you watch it on youtube, you have to have the utmost open mind not to call it crap. It's not. Give me a clean hd-remaster and some qol improvements (proper map pls!). I didn't finish it on the Wii, but I'd love to give it another try. It's one of these 'looks childish, but has lots of adult content' games.

Your turn!

Full Remake - Mass Effect Trilogy.

Visual Remake - Skyrim.

Remaster, not sure what this really covers as it always seems to be something different, but if you mean kind of like how Halo MCC on PC is just the same games but at higher resolutions and framerate, and updating the options to todays standards, then i'd go with - I actually dont know, there are tons of older games that could do with freshening up.

Full Re-Make: The Matrix Games to coincide with the Matrix 4. Made by Platinum Games preferably.

Visual Remake: Perfect Dark (the original, not Zero).

Remaster: gonna have to agree with Vawn Vawn on Demon's Souls

Full Remake : I’d love to see the FFVII Remake treatment for FFVI. I’d fucking love it even though I’m fairly sure the train boss alone just cannot be done right in 3D. Zelda Ocarina would also be top of my list

Visual Remake : Silent Hill 1. Just upgrade the graphics, leave the rest be. I don’t trust you for anything else anyway, konami

Remaster : Dead Space trilogy, maybe?

So are we talking hypotheticals or pre-existing games? My list is pre-existing, or more specifically my favorite of each category.

Full remake: pokemon heart gold and soul silver, gen 2 was my favorite gen overall but the amount of attention to detail made this so thrilling. Hg/ss to b/w are easilythe peak of gamefreak’s best.

visual remake: halo 2 anniversary. You have the combat, movement and campaign of what i would argue is one of the beat halo games with an amazing polish of graphics and incredibly beautiful cgi cutscenes by Blur. Halo cea was also fairly solid but h2a blew it out of the water. Mostly. If only MCC wasnt a tangled mess for several years...

remaster: ocarina of time master quest. you have the solid gameplay of the original plus fully tweaked dungeons for extra difficulty. I really wish more games would do this.

Be careful what you wish for. This could happen as "Let's Go 2".

Full: Fallout 1 or 2. Keep it in the traditional turn based overhead way. Wasteland 2 is a good example

Remake: Ace Combat 4

Remaster: World at War

Lol, Ii was wondering 'huh, Halo 2 already was maserfully remade'. Then I got it. This thread isn't about games that exist, but game you wish were remade :]

Visual Remake? No. It's only Remake and Remaster. Remake = Huge change in visuals or gameplay elements e.g. Resident Evil (all of them), FF7R, MGS:TTS, the new Crash and Spyro Trilogy, CTR Nitro-Fueled, Link's Awakening Etc, etc. Remastered = Original game upscaled to current HD visual standards (1080p, 4k etc.) e.g. FF8 Remastered, FFX/X-2 Remastered, OoT 3D, Bioshock, Skyrim Special Edition, Dead Island Definitive Edition, Dark Souls Remastered etc. etc.

Well by 'visual remake' i took at as he meant something like the 'Shadow of the Colossus' remake where the visuals were vastly improved, but the actual gameplay was the same. A 'remake' would mean a big graphics update, but the gameplay could also be changed vastly for the current market.

Shadow of the Colossus is a remake, if they had to redesign the original graphics from scratch like the Crash or Spyro games, then it's a remake, because they remade the graphics. Remaster is just a touch up of already existing models.

Basically this. The older the game, the more I want a completely new experience based on the old game. Like Megaman Powered up and Final Fantasy VII.

Full remake - every awesome PS1, PS2, N64, Saturn, GameCube, Dreamcast and Xbox game.

Visual remake - every awesome NES, SNES and MegaDrive game.

Sorry for breaking the rules :D

Full Remake: The Witcher.

The first Witcher game has a good story but is an absolutely archaic game made from the Neverwinter Nights engine. Remake the full game in The Witcher 3 engine.

Make it happen CDPR. I need some Geralt in my life and remaking the first game makes so much more sense then making a sequel.

Full Remake: Knights of the old Republic

Visual Remake: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast

Remaster: Jade Empire

Great choices here.

Full Remake: Phantasy Star ( sms )

Visual Remake: Oblivion ( Imperial City needs a vast over haul, as does the derpy npc's ), probably needs to be a full remake honestly. Hmm maybe it should be switched with Phantasy Star?

Remaster: JSRF

So many games I could choose, this is kind of hard.

Just for fun, I'll pick three games from the same developer.

Full Remake: Daikatana

Visual Remake: Anachronox

Remaster: Deus Ex

Remaster: Snatcher
Put the Sega CD version on modern consoles so people can play it without paying $500 or pirating it. Adding in a couple uncut scenes as a bonus would be great

Visual Remake: Gran Turismo 2
I still go back to this one so if it was mostly the same ol GT2 with better graphics that would be nice.

Full Remake: Final Fantasy V
Somehow, also give it a better story.

This. I really want to play the first game but everything I've read tells me the gameplay is ass. Someone already did a mod of the first level in Kaer Morhen with the Witcher 3 engine but nothing official will happen until CDPR makes a move.

Full remake: Urban Chaos for PS1. Always thought it was a really interesting game but not ideal on ps1.

Visual remake: Orcarina of time. Playing it again now, it looks so bad.

Remaster: GTA San Andreas.

Full: IDK really, maybe GTA VC but a VC 2 would also do it and seems more likely

Visual: Banjo-Kazooie, same game with modern graphics would make me be there day 1

Remaster: every game from last gen looks like shit because of the poor IQ so if I have to choose one... Lost Odyssey eventho that already got remastered I think, most good game have been, they knew IQ was a big problem last gen

Full-blown Remake - Castlevania II Belmont's Revenge

I loved this game on the Gameboy with its thematic castles each featuring bespoke enemies and boss. The music tracks are stellar and there are some really great remixes of them out there to stoke one's imagination.

I'd expect some major overhauls to gameplay but also for it to retain the atmosphere, mystique and variety. Traditionally they'd have to remake the prequel first but this is a thread about dreams so, yea.

Visual Remake - Hokuto no Ken (fighting game)

I'm half serious about this one. Arcsys, make this game again with your top tier anime shading and stylish camerawork. Retain all the kusoge (that's JP slang for "shit game") elements so that opponents can be dribbled ad infinitum. We esports now baby!

HD Remaster - God Hand.

Hey Capcom, I don't need you to iron out the niggles in this game. Just remember you have one of the best beat 'em ups featuring tank controls and release it so it can be comfortably played on current/next gen. Ideally on Switch with HD rumble, thank you very much. And maybe add an optional motion control scheme like the one in ARMS...

Full Remake: Skies of Arcadia. The story is fun and the entire world and sky pirates concept is still great. With modern graphics, an improved combat system and no fucking random encounters it could be awesome.

Visual Remake: Ninja Gaiden Black, updated graphics, 60fps on consoles and release it on every modern consoles and PC

Remaster: Wonderful 101...or just a straight port I don't care. Just don't let it die on WiiU

Full Remake: Silent Hill 4

Keep the premise of a guy trapped in his apartment and the score but trash everything else and start again from scratch.

Visual Remake: Clock Tower[PS1]

Remaster: Castlevania 64

Put it in 3D on the 3DS and I can die a happy man.

Full remake: Breath of Fire 2 - the story is fantastic and goddamn I really want more BOF.

Visual remake: Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne - don't mess with the gameplay, just update the environment. Keep it brutal, gaming journos stay mad.

Remaster: Super Mario Galaxy 1-2 and FUCKING METROID PRIME TRILOGY.

Full Remake - Chrono Cross - one of my favorite RPG's of all time. All the other good RPG's of the PS1 have either been remastered or remade. Why not this one?

Visual Remake - Killzone 2 & 3 - great games that already look pretty good so not too much would really be needed.

Remaster - Silent Hill 2 & 3 - IMO the best of the series and sadly they are with one of the worst companies on the planet. They still look pretty good too for their age and desperately need a PROPER remaster.
