One thing I didn't see anybody talking about after the supposed 12TF "confirmation": power consumption. I mean... the 9.5TF 5700XT eats away ~220W average with 240+ peaks. Unless they made a huge fucking different arch for NAVI 2.0 I just don't see how it's possible that a console with a 12TF GPU + Zen 2 CPU will keep power consumption on console levels. It just doesn't seem possible.
5700XT isn’t in these consoles. CES on Jan 6 will likely show what’s coming.

We don't know what improvements were for clocks on the next amd chips. Also I don't think MS will be clocking so aggressive it will be a big die lower clock. It's clear looking at the box this will be by far the highest thermals in a console. That box was designed to cool that is it hence the size. I would not be shocked if these boxes push 1.5x last generation did for thermals total. So close to 300 watts that box was made to vent that kind of heat looking at it.

Sony don't get any pass from me even though I had PS4 this gen for the most part. They haven't claimed anything about power or performance yet for PS5. Microsoft are throwing out unclear sound bites like 'performance leader' that really mean nothing IMO. I don't know why Xbox fans are getting so anxious over being most powerful. They'll almost certainly be so close to each other as not to make a difference in games.

Yeah I don't know what's up with people thinking they're referring to 12TF GCN or even Vega, that wouldn't make much sense for them to do. It seemed like they were referring to raw TF numbers and all leaks already put them and Sony as using RDNA (plus maybe bits of RDNA2), so they wouldn't need to explicitly mention 12 TF Navi, they likely assumed anyone looking for TF number mentions officially would assume they implied 12TF on Navi.
Honestly, I don't know why anyone would WANT this to be them implying 12TF on GCN, because by proxy that will make PS5's specs less impressive as well, and we already know what gulf in power (if any) between the two system will be less than 10%. So people should WANT this 12TF to be in reference to Navi, that gives a better showing for not just the new Xbox but PS5 as well.

Only Xbox look like they're in a hurry and need to build up hype from now because they aren't selling as good as PS4 and Switch. Sony can sit back and rack up on Christmas sales, and reveal next year at their own pace and time when the time is right.

"We are aiming to be the market leader" just means they want to have more success than the competition. And of course they did their best to design their console as powerful as possible. They should be proud of it, of course. Doesn't mean anything in absolute terms though.

For the Pro leak you gave us some new and real insider knowledge. For PS5 and Scarlett you gave us nothing that wasn't already talked about here or elsewhere. Only teasers "more than 10tf" and such that we already read before. Until you give us some real and new info, I don't believe you know anything about those consoles hardware.

To be fair reading the very post you quoted should clear up quite a bit for you. Seriously if one machine is 11.7 and another is 12.3 what's the difference? If that were the case (I'm not saying that it is) they would both be very powerful and capable machines.

Does Sony have more negotiating power over suppliers (AMD, TSMC, Samsung..etc) on the back of selling +100m units of PS4? I assume that's true and can be one of the main reasons PS5 might be more powerful than Scarlett.

All I've seen was The Verge's Tom Warren took Phil Spencer's comment about being twice as powerful as the X to mean 12Tflops, but a ~10Tflop RDNA part would also be twice as powerful as the X, 12 would be 2.5-3X as powerful.
I'm just curious if Tom knows something, or if he made an extrapolation mistake not knowing the difference between the architectures, he hasn't answered this.

What I meant is getting better prices for those, I can imaging that ordering 100m APUs or Rams can net you better pricing than ordering 30m over the lifetime of the console.
