90 Day Fiance is the greatest reality show of all time

This is a show I never would have watched. Somehow a friend convinced me to try it like a year ago or something and my mind is still blown.

It's a show on TLC where desperate American people who can't get laid will find scammers online who need green cards. They have a pretend relationship for a while where the desperate and delusional person from America is unaware of the fact that the entire relationship is a scam. The 90 Days part of the title is a reference to the K1 visa that allows the scammer to come here for 90 days so that the two can get married. For many people, this is a first or second time even meeting this person.

And it's some of the most amazing television you could watch. It is a huge show for the channel and they have made spinoffs. One of the spinoffs is called Before the 90 Days. This is where the top-tier gold is at. I'd suggest watching the regular show first because nothing compares to the 3 seasons of this spinoff.

An example of one of the "happy couples:"

I still think the first few seasons of Survivor takes that title, but 90 day fiance is top tier trash reality TV.

That couple is probably the most gold, but Anfisa is up there too.

There was also that guy that kept pushing for sex and the girl wanted nothing to do with it. I don't remember their name though. But that guy was hell thirsty LOL.

So for the whole show the one person thinks the marriage is legit and that they are not being scammed, then at the end finds that out? I don't think I could watch that, that's cruel on a sadistic level letting someone go through that while being filmed for the whole world to see when everyone else knows it's bullshit and they don't. Unless it's just fake like 95% of reality tv.

Its more like one party doesnt get the deal. Its not that their being scammed its that one side knows its in it for the visa and the other thinks its about love. And there really arent any victims. The americans lie ans decieve just as much.

I am sure there is some staging to it also it is a modern day reality show.

A lot of the time, each party is lying to each other. Hell, sometimes, like in the case of Jorge and Anfisa, she tells him the truth 100 times that she's trading her body for his money and green card, but it's like he has a mental block and doesn't hear it.

It's 2 really broken people and a crew of cameramen and production assistants who do everything they can to exploit it all for the best footage. If a woman says in a solo interview that she's afraid of heights, they tell the guy that he should take her up to the top of the space needle. It's fucking terrible shit and you can see the editing and meddling from a mile away and it's the greatest package trash TV has ever seen.

Did some research on it apparently most of it is indeed staged. One of the couples has a youtube video where they talk about it and another guest shared some details on insta about it. I guess the couples themselves are real, but the goings-on is pretty much all staged.

Wish some of these shows wouldn't do that shit but I guess it always happens for ratings - when the Impractical Jokers stuff came out that pretty much killed all my hope that any reality TV would ever be legit.

If it was completely, fully legit, it would be a documentary. And just from what I can spot while watching the show, it looks like the most boring couples are the ones they stage the most shit for.

This is also where the Before the 90 Days spinoff is better than the regular show. It's the beginning phase, before any K1 is issued to the scammer. So it's always an American flying out to some shithole country and the footage is so good. If you could watch Impractical Jokers, this show is Casablanca in comparison.

My buddy put on an Impractical Jokers one day and it looked fake as fuck immediately. I could barely get through the episode. The overly fake laughter and the obviously fake scoring system was the wrong kind of cringe. This show is nowhere near as fake as that one, which is sad in its own way :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Yeah it got exposed for faking a lot of their final bits at the end of each episode, they hired actors for most of them and shit along with some other fake things.

There was one with a guy who had his own pot growing business and the girl he met was someone he met on a cam site. You didn't know that last part because I had to look it up after the show. lol She would get mad at him for not spending extra money on her.

What is funny or amusing in watching desperate thirst people getting fucked by scammer?

Also if they are like the reality we have in italy, it's all fake...

That was Anfisa. She made it clear from day 1 she was a gold digger. But Jorge lied and pretended to have lots of money.

It was sad because he kept getting mad at her and was like so its only about the money and you just want more, and she was straight up YES its about the money. So even after she told him straight to his face he still thinks its about love and why doesn't she just love him even if he doesn't have money LOL.

I can't really blame Anfisa on this one because she has the body to get rich men and Jorge pretended he was rich. So in reality he lied to her while she was up front that the whole relationship is based around money.

A good reminder of how easy it is to scam our immigration system. These Americans are so clearly being used, yet they have hope that these young attractive individuals are actually interested in them. It's really quite sad.

Clearly they look for "interesting" couples when they cast the show.

You think if you showed up as a well adjusted person and the foreigner is well adjusted and its clear both are in love they would cast you? Nope. They want people who will have drama and are freak shows because that draws.

As an aside I forgot about the blonde lady and the nigerian guy. Those two are tops. One episode he called her fat LOL.

The best was his reaction when she showed up in Nigera and in his cofessional he was like she is bigger than I thought. They go to the hotel room and she wants the D and he is trying his best to get out of there. And apperantly he stole from her ATM too LOL.

Then there was this crazy guy who had no money I think it was a thai/vietnamise or maybe filipino girl. He had to mooch of his friend and his buddies wife was getting sick of it.

"90 Day Fiancee: The Other Way" is even better. Americans going to live overseas in Ecuador, Brazil, India, even Qatar.

I hate reality TV but this show in particular is very addictive

I've never seen this show but it worries me. Next month I'm coming back to the us from China, taking my fiance who I met here and have been living with for more than a year. Seeing this show being popular makes me worried that I'm gonna have to hear from strangers and or family that my fiance is like on this show.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
My wife and I love this show, watch it every week and all the spinoffs. We both know it's straight up garbage, but that's part of the appeal.

I'm usually not either. My friend loves cringe stuff. He'll send me 5 minute videos that I can only get 5 seconds into.

But this show is just the perfect recipe for me somehow. I've purposely tried not to give away any of the best examples of what makes the show so great to watch so that people can see it fresh.

90 Day Fiance is the greatest scripted reality show of all time

There you go, I fixed that for ya. If it's called a reality show, then it's the furthest thing from reality.

hahaha I love to hear this because I originally avoided Before the 90 and The Other Way thinking they couldn't possibly be as good as the main show

It's not a documentary, that's correct.

Try it out! You hate it before even seeing a second of it. Sometimes the ultimate trash TV is extremely entertaining TV. If I wanted to watch people have real relationships, oh I dunno, I could look in every direction around me.

My girlfriend watches this show and the spinoffs religiously. I’m not a big reality tv guy, but I do find it entertaining enough where I can enjoy watching it with her.

The amount of cringe they are able to get out of each episode is phenomenal. You have a few boring couples here and there but majority of them are so entertaining. I don’t care if it’s scripted or not it’s good tv.

Ceasar, the guy who sent $40K over to the scammer from Ukraine, did not learn his lesson. After booking a trip to a resort in Mexico for them (she will not allow him to meet her in her country, wonder why!) and her not coming and breaking up with him, she started texting him again. He admitted that in the weeks after the Mexico trip, he had already sent her another 2 grand or so. They are supposedly arranging another trip to Cuba.

I think that's where I've stopped feeling bad for him.

The last episode of every season is a "Tell-all." The couples all meet up together in person and they show clips from the season, discuss where things are at, ect.

They usually suck and are best watched by skipping through the recaps. The one for the 3rd season of Before the 90 is 2.5 hours long. It takes over 40 minutes to even start the boring recap stuff because of all the ridiculous white trash drama that goes on. Just great TV. I don't want to spoil the specifics.

The tell-all episodes are awesome but it's such a weird format! It's like fourth-wall breaking where they're making a reality TV show about making a studio show about the reality TV show. The cameras follow everyone around "behind the scenes" and show the control room, "cuts" for commercials, etc.

Yes! exactly :messenger_tears_of_joy:

It's all so stupid but it's also fascinating if you're watching it on that level. This show is at its best when you're constantly thinking about the way the show manipulates all the situations to create the ridiculous behavior that comes from the unstable people they purposely chose for that reason.
