Im betting MS will reveal price after PS5 price reveal due to this. Imagine if the difference is that big and series x is say only 100 dollars more

That wouldn't be bad. The Holy Grail would be both systems being the same price. Maybe MS was more shrewd in other areas in this hypothetical scenario.

It's like putting together a fantasy football team, it's hard to get the #1 pick in every position. That leaves MS and Sony with decisions on where they think they can afford to take a #2, what is the most important piece of the recipe for each and so on. What do they prioritize more GPU, CPU, RAM, SSD, etc.?

Where’s the link to the investors meeting when the guy said that PS5s unveiling will happen within the same timeframe as last time?

This would be a great result.

Nobody is infallible, nobody. Cerny has zero personality and comes off a bit creepy, but knows his tech. He just over sells it. Phil doesn’t know tech like Cerny but is much more face friendly, however he too likes to over promise.

So one guys flaw is over promising and the other guys flaw is being creepy. Lol that's fucked up.

what is this guidance they are talking about.

The PS5 is to be launched in the selling season toward the end of the year. So what would be the guidance -- the future guidance for March '21? You have not disclosed the price for PS5. So what would happen to the guidance that you will be releasing in April for the next fiscal year?

Hiroki Totoki -- Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

It's very difficult to really discuss this timing-wise, but as of today, we will provide the guidance at a time period, which is comparable to the past. So we will not change the time schedule.
Hiroki is talking about providing guidance at a time period comparable to the past. the question asked was talking about some guidance thats set to be released in april next year
is this some investor lingo im not familiar with?

Yeah both have said they are very close.

So bottom line we won't know till specs are revealed but I had wondered this: IF it was true that the PS5 was say 9TF and the XsX was 12TF, how would that stack up in pricing? Would that mean that Sony was targeting like a $299 or $399 price point while MS was targeting $499 or $599? From what I've seen, 12TF would have to be around $599...wouldn't it? Or Ok, say it's $499. Would it be realistic to assume that Sony would have a 4TF disadvantage in tech and just be $100 cheaper?

It just doesn't sound right to me. I would think that regardless of the actual numbers, if one box was seriously outperforming the other, THAT kind of info and 'buzz' would leak. No one's really at risk there since they're not talking solid numbers and tech, so that would tend to leak far more quickly.

So I expect that WHATEVER the TF numbers are, both are going to be pretty darn close. I just don't see either company as being prone to so seriously underestimate where their competitor was headed and get "caught out" with a big performance disadvantage. I mean, it's hardly news or speculation that MS continues to try and target "power" as a premium. All about features and performance as they continue to try and expand their marketshare and hopefully take over the top spot in the market. While Sony IS the market leader and has all that ground to defend, so it's not very likely that they'd suddenly make that kind of blunder. Since the boxes are basically all based on the same technical base as well there's just not that potential like their was in the past (like with Sony going super exotic as in the PS2 and arguably even more so with the PS3). It's all moving towards standard parts...basically optimized gaming PC's.

I expect the differences to be where they spend their budget. It wouldn't surprise me to see MS prioritize and have the highest TF count, while Sony prioritizes memory bandwidth and/or the data bus between the SSD and the system. There will be tradeoffs, but again I think the MO of Microsoft is power and clock cycles as priority number one and Sony tends to be more about the bandwidth and/or system over all. But time will tell.

I just think people should A) tamp down expectations about outrageous TF performance and B) understand that this market too is changing and evolving like we saw with 'mid-gen' updates this time around. These companies are going to be trying to dip into our pockets more frequently with more iterative updates than selling to us just once every 7-10 years.

People will believe what they like to believe BUT the reality is set behind the scenes.

People out here downplaying the PS5 for being 9.2tf (based on leaks & rumors) & they say Sony has no confidence etc.

I'm gonna say hey guys you know you're embarrassing yourself because you're downplaying the most unpredictable company out there. Sony are crazy bastard don't expect them to be "oh I missed MS caught me out off guard"

Praise yourself to be embarrassed from the same company who tweeted a major acquisition like Insomniac in a random tweet that took over gamescom.

In the end you have the right to laugh at me, but plz capture this & come at me when Sony reveals the PS5 & let see who is willing to take the L
Nintendo are the most unpredictable out there

Man I really hope ps5 is more than 9TF. That’s really disappointing. Double the pro is still not enough to make next gen graphics plus UHD resolutions (my opinion). I want more than current gen games at solid frame rates in UHD.
UHD resolutions alone would remove most of the benefits, that is if Sony isn't using an independent seperate RT solution.

a lot of so called 'insiders' made the assumption that the PS5 would be revealed in February due to that being the case with the Ps4. When does everyone think notable leaks will start coming out about the PS5?

PS5 to be revealed in the same approach and time-frame as what sony did in the past with PS4, as they mentioned in their Q3 FY2019 too, is exactly what i heard about The announcement time of the console around 8 months ago.
Still #teamfeb

You said mid February and now you’re saying around the 20th? I’m calling bs on this. You got a few other things wrong. You said Sony weren’t going to ignore E3. You also said invites were sent out and expect announcement in January. I’m gonna have to go with “fake insider”.

Notable leaks? Closer to release id imagine. Official news - hopefully this month. But I'd very much doubt we'll hear proper specs till at least the summer. But the design could give a lot away. When people claim the Xbox is 12tf, looking at the design then yeah possibly.

So if the ps5 is some behemoth, then their is a chance it too will be in that ball park - be it greater or smaller. But part of me thinks Sony will favour design over better cooling.

Another way to look at it is both companies were gonna release a tower like design and MS literally raced to get their one out first. Sony couldn't release their one as it would look like they copied MS - maybe that was supposed to be at CES? Has their ever been a console reveal where we've just seen a 3d render of the machine and that's it? Isn't the norm to show off the actual console too? I genuinely can't remember haha.

My problem with this, aside from the way obvious fake video (who records a video of a dash that entirely static?), is that the latest dash that we should be getting any day now has moved away from the areas at the top of the screen, meaning whoever did this based it on the competent public dash, not the one in testing. 🤣

But I expect a minimal upgrade in the Xbox dash, because I dont think they even know what they or us want, to be fair. As long as it’s 4k, that’s ok with me.

Hmm, he does say here 'around mid feb'. I'd give 10th to the 20th a pass for that, at the most. :messenger_grinning_sweat: The 'known for 8 months' sounds a bit suss though in his latest post, I doubt they'd plan the date that far in advance, we shall seee Mr Fisher. :pie_thinking:
