Four generations of gaming: Our commitment to compatibility means existing Xbox One games, including backward-compatible Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, look and play better than ever before. Your favorite games, including titles in Xbox Game Pass, benefit from steadier framerates, faster load times and improved resolution and visual fidelity – all with no developer work required. I look forward to playing Doritos Crash Course on this thing.

Now we need GAF mathematicians to calculate how much RDNA2 12TF transaltes/compares to RDNA1 TF and GCN TF ;D

...lacks reading comprehension.
And there it is.

We can definitely put the "but 2x the X doesn't literally mean 12!" to bed. Always knew he was speaking in terms of Moore's Law with that claim. Plus, they never shut down the 12TF rumors when they were spreading, knowing if it actually wasn't 12 they'd lose a lot of goodwill that was generating.

Now the question I guess is, is it actually "12" or something like 12.x. I'm guessing 12.18 but it's possible it could be more, some rumors were kicking up saying they wanted to push near 13 but that'd be pushing the GPU to the absolute edge of the sweetspot, and it's already a pretty big chip as-is.

So they probably won't reach that xD. But I'm glad someone finally confirmed something officially in terms of at least some of the specs, that is reassuring. I hope this bodes well for Sony and PS5 as well whenever they're finally ready to start talking again.

I don't think they will push higher. 12.18 TF (or 56 CU @ 1.7 GHz) is pretty much the sweet spot for performance/watt for RDNA and possibly also for RDNA2. They will be more concerned about not having another RROD situation, so they don't go higher with the clock speeds. It should allow them to just have one huge and slow fan to cool the whole console almost inaudible.

Cool. Good for the Xbox fans. I might grab one for a gamepass machine in my living room to compliment my pc in the office.
I've been saying a console would be perfect for that all along. Crazy thing is, I'm in the middle of saving up for a new GPU and I never thought I'd feel this divided on whether or not I should get the xbox first...

ambiguous
That applies to practically everything.
Person X says this, someone else makes something else out of that and runs with it.
Hell last week there were 3+ threads each with their own spin of what Hiroki Tokoki said or might have said.

MS to the surprise of no sane person validates the github leak from AMD's chip validation team, but I guess we're still going to have 6 months of speculating about how the next Xbox isn't ~30% faster than the PS5.

well, if the other part of the github leak is true We know how the next Xbox is 30% faster than the PS5. But we don’t know yet if the other part of the rumor is true.
we will see what Sony reveals. Hopefully soon.

I'm certain PS5 will feature RDNA2 as well... hardware accelerated ray tracing is a RDNA2 feature. And hardware ray tracing is what sony has promised.

There is a posse of Xbox fans online that are hoping and praying that the PS5 is 9.2 from GitHub, for some really strange mentally deficient reason.

huh? The github leak had two parts:

a) 12TF chip
b) 9TF Chip

We know now 100% that a) the 12TF chip is Xbox series x.
We don’t know (yet) what b) 9TF chip is referring to. Could be PS5. Could be Xbox series S. Could be nothing. We don’t know yet.
At least we know now about a)

Then get a 2080 ti :p
I could say that my new PC will cost between 7200 and 8500 euro, but then that would lead to more questions.
Case in point, a person can very well afford the best of all/any world without limiting themselves to a single one.

I was answering the question. There is a group that rolls in a twitter/discord circle that are praying for all to be true to wear a badge of false honor on their nerdy little shoulders. It's just weird, especially with grown ass men.

Ok. This is stupid. We don’t know yet what this part is. I don’t think it will be the PS5. Maybe the cheaper and weaker series S. But only AMD/Microsoft/Sony knows. And we will find out end of this year at the latest.
