As for playing PS5 games on 4 though, I doubt it...not unless, as I said, there are cross gen releases, but that’s two hard solid
SKUs, as it’s been done forever?

Cross-buy has covered PS4, PS3 *and* PSV before. Just log onto the machine and you can download the version if you've bought it digitally on one of the others. So they already have the functionality baked into their systems. Buying PS5 and also wanting PS4 version is probably quite niche, but useful for someone keeping hold of their old system for kids/other room etc. Which reminds me Sony do need to implement a much better cloud save system this time round to support this.

It’s only a matter of time before Sony come out, but would they announce it on their German twitter of all places...? Not so sure. They have done a few of these teases in the past that were essentially about other things.

It's going to end up on all their twitter accounts, though I'd forgotten it was PS+ time of the month so likely to be that.

And then you kill the main advantage consoles have over PCs, uniformity. We've already seen how mid-gen updates couldn't be properly exploited, now you want to make this situation worse?

The big difference is that we have now moved into HD resolutions that are favourable resolutions on large sized TVs (anything below ~65” IMHO) and a move to RT simplifies the scalability in a performance predictable way, and because special care wasn’t taken to fake the RT visuals. Scaling resolutions, increased bounce counts, widening FOV or changing frame-rates doesn’t create visual artefacts or coherence issues with game models., or at least, it shouldn’t.

well when games today are making more money AFTER the consumer buys the game, than the actual initial $60 purchase, it becomes a good strategy to get the game in as many hands as possible.

We wont be looking at MS 1st party games in terms in sales but rather in user population. It seems more lucrative these days to have Sea of Thieves at the fingertips of 30 million people (made up figure for gamepass customers) @$1, $5, or $10 a month than it is to sell a million copies @$60 and only ever have that many people with access.

Halo 5, for example, made way more money from in-game purchases than it did from $60 sales. So Halo 6 being on gamepass only increases the amount of people that have access to its in-game market. Its a good move for everyone.
Very good point, Microsoft with their microtransaction based approach to their games is perfect fit for GamePass. Don't know how I missed this.

Ok hear me out.

Microsoft partners with Valve.

Xbox Series X come with Steam pre-installed.

Valve VR Hardware. Xbox Compatible.

Day. One.

Then I wake up.

Wake up, Chief.
In that case I would buy an Xbox. I'm only interested in the PS5 so far because of VR, specs won't change that. But if Series X offered support for PCVR HMD it would be a very cost-effective way to have access to that great library of titles.

On the subject of a potential PS5 Pro or even XSX Elite(or whatever it is named), I'm sure they'll both come along eventually.

RT may not be as fully featured in these systems, but as technology advances I could see a slightly stronger system being brought out with enhanced RT, VRS, etc.

Most likely will *have* those 14-15TF GPUs by then.

But til then, these systems are pretty damned powerful.

Insistence on 1080 doesnt make it so. Seems to be 2080 Super level which is insane.

@BGs also had Ian lick his lips ONCE, but put TWO pictures. One and Two... that’s....

2.1tf! OMG!

I do hope so, just so the air can be cleared for everybody. But something tells me even when they do, there will still more more questions than answers.

This shits getting like an episode of Lost. I just hope the ending is decent this time.
I think some people were saying it's to announce PS+ games for March. Ah, well.

You know, I’ve heard a lot of rumblings online about tv manufacturers wanting to ditch the 16:9 aspect ratio and move into something more like 21:9

As somebody who lives in the Uk, where even Sky tv doesn’t have 720p for a lot of its channels yet, I can’t imagine what a colossal fuck up that would all be...

Bypassing "bad intention" when choosing frames, one could say yes. Talent is important. Very closely followed by time (optimization) and budget. But...

giphy.gif

Now imagine "xx.xTF" of VR power in the hands of talented people and efficient hardware. It scares literally just thinking about it.

In what kinds of improvements do you think Sony will focus for the next generation of PSVR? Can we expect an increase of FOV? Perhaps eye tracking?

Ready at Dawn would be all over that.

Can someone update OP please?
We know that Full RDNA 2.0 etc is supported by series X

SonGoku SonGoku is mia, so you should ask Imtjnotu Imtjnotu for update the second post.

Love your username
It would be funny af if it’s exactly the other way around.

MS and AMD exclusive partnership for full RDNA 2.0 support whereas Sonly only gets a crappy RDNA 1.0 or 1.5 at best.

Currently everything points to exactly this scenario.
Speculation thread mind you. You should keep reading the thread until Microsoft confirmed RDNA and put VEGA rumor to bed.

Guys, I think I have finally figured out the real deal with these insiders and what their purpose is to bring to this forum: disruption and confusion. I think both Microsoft and Sony know that leaks are poorly controlled, so the best way to not reveal their companys ‘secrets’ is to pay these insiders or give them some incentives to keep us guessing. The narrative on PS5 specs has been most peculiar: 9TFLOPS all the way to 13 TFLOPS. Why such a huge variance amongst these insiders? You would think that all these insiders would be close to the same ball park of what PS5 could potentially be. I get this strange feeling that Sony and Microsoft are watching this forum and other gaming forums very closely and are totally fucking with us until the very end (until their full reveal). I wouldn’t be surprised if these ‘insiders’ are coordinating amongst each other on how to continue to cause further disruption, and mind fuck with us until the very end.

My gut feeling on Microsoft TFLOPS specs was right, they had to get over the marketing hurdle of ‘double the GPU performance or double the TFLOPS” because most people wont know the difference between GCN and RDNA 2 so the number had to be 12. Yet you had insiders that were shifting the goal post just a little so that it would cause hesitancy, apprehension amongst yourselves. I will stick to my gut instinct this time for PS5: it *will* be double digit TFLOPS, but it wont be as powerful as XsX. I would say 10-11 TFLOPS, with PS5 being a more efficient, tighter, well integrated and well balanced overall machine.

As far as VFXveterans PC master race rhetoric, I think its an absolute fucking miracle that for both consoles you are getting something spectacular spec wise for a price of $500-$600. He just cant seem to fathom the thought that you would get something so jam packed like this. Well guess what: you are. Its reality. For PC enthusiasts whining and bitching that consoles are holding PC games back: not anymore. These consoles are helping the PC master race, because they have raised the standards and bar on what next generation graphics are going to be. AMD has made some fundamental changes in their microarchitecture and hit the sweet spot on price to performance ratio. You will not get this from Intel, NVIDIA, or even Qualcomm without considering selling your organs.

You are all going to win regardless of what system you buy. You guys are going to start this decade off fantastic. Stop relying on these insiders, stop letting them fuck with your mind and have a vision for yourself on how much ‘greatness awaits.’

Peace.

Looking at PS4 Pro and Xbox One X games, users i think would see them as pretty equal and most would probably not know the TF difference between them thus when the new consoles are released Microsoft can claim 2x the power of Xbox One X whereas for Sony to claim the same they only have to have a system more than 8.4tf...anything more than that and they can say more than 2x which makes it sound more powerful than the Xbox One X to a consumer. I can see marketing preferring to compare with the previous generations in regards to power as it sounds more impressive rather than just stating a tf number. Imagine seeing a poster stating Xbox Series X, 2X the power of Xbox One X, then PS5 2X the power of PS4 Pro, they sound similar in power. I suppose it could go the other way too if Microsoft compared to the original Xbox One and Sony compared to the PS4, then it would look better in Microsoft's favour.

They are running out of tangible things to sell us TVs. 8K isn't going to be a big difference for most people. Let's just change the aspect ratio :D.

It wont "hold back" the xsx, resolution scales very well.
Well, when I see someone like John Linneman, a guy who is used to make DF's technical analysis, express his concerns over Lockart, I don't think the issue here is just a resolution scaling. Besides, we've already heard developers complain about it.

imo the narrative has been split ~ 9 or ~13TF - there's one simple explanation for this - 12.8TF GCN devkits simulating ~9TF RDNA performance ..

Will find out soon I think
To be fair, the XsX is big.
I think a lot of people will be suprised just how compact the Series X is .. way less volume than a SFF PC for instance

VFXVeteran is vetted (unlike fake insiders) and his claim coresponds well with 2 SKUs leak I have mentioned before. If his info will end up wrong then I would understand some people would want to attack him for providing wrong information, but why some of you are attacking him now?

As did 3D.

My old Bravia was 3d, but the trouble was at 1080p the resolution is way too low to really use for a large tv.

8k glasses less 3d with wide angle would look great I imagine, but it’s still not for me.

Hell, I sold my 3ds and bought a 2ds xl. Cheaper, and I never used the 3D anyway.

Wasn't Tomy Fisher accurate regarding Series X specs?
Listen if you make many guesses some of them will end up true. As I remember Tommy Fisher also wrote claims in regards to PS5 architecture using some strange info that doesnt even correspond with Navi and back then many people called him a liar because of that. I have no reason to trust Tommy Fisher and in my book he is a fake insider.

What the Fuck happened here ?

Just quote my self about insiders and their status on next gen from before .Pay attention to vfx part . He proved it yet again today .

For vfx I wrote :

vfx (changes his view nonstop he said both are 1080 level but he keeps changing as soon as a news come up so disregard him )

He just proved my assessment yet again . Ps5 and ps5 pro . They both launch at the same time . I don’t know when they launch . They can’t be near 2080 super (maaah pc master race threatened) 😂😂. Price issues . Not launching soon lol

the whole point : he fucking dread consoles being close to his precious pc while being cheaper lol😂
I noticed this as well and cracked him on it a few weeks ago but he was stuck on that all Xbox and Playstation games on the PC master race rhetoric.

I think Osiris hinted that the Rocksteady one is a Superman/Batman teamup/vs(?) Game.

He said 'if sb says SUPERMAN, WB BeATs him', or something.

SUPERMAN
BAT
If OsirisBlack OsirisBlack is saying Rocksteady’s game is Superman/Batman, then he’s lying, because I know EXACTLY what Rocksteady’s game is, and it isn’t that.

So again, who’s developing this so called Superman game, Osiris?
