How far can they realistically stretch the power? 13tf is ridiculous. Where's the compromise going to be in the system? These specs seem ridiculous. You're looking at just the tf comparable to a single GPU over $499. Consoles generally don't draw past 200w correct? I'd have to think a system on 13tf is already pulling at minimum half of 200w. Consoles always sacrifice somewhere. Is the Zen 2 CPU just marketing speak and will end up underwhelming? Man if these things are as juicy as we think nobody should be complaining about the value of a $600 console because you're getting the best price+performance you can buy especially in comparison to a PC.

I'm going to stay on the cautious side. I don't believe these specs, sorry. Doesn't seem realistic. Maybe if we had unlimited die space and resources. If only. Going to wait until both systems fully reveal the brains in every detail.

Haha oook. AMD has always said HW RT is part of the RDNA 2 architecture. There is no such thing as HW RT in RDNA 1.0. Cerny confirmed that the PS5 had HW RT. When Series X was confirmed by Spencer to be version 2.0 it doesn't take a genius to conclude PS5 also will be. But when your favourite piece of plastic becomes religion I guess it is hard to acknowledge such things....

Do you think consoles are used only for games? It's affordable hardware for many other realtime graphics purposes. The problem is they're closed systems but sometimes you can get a deal even if your company doesn't make games. The primary reason for Linux on PS3 was server farms (for the military, IIRC) and when it became obsolete and hackers started poking around, they scrapped it. Why wouldn't they sell more hardware if possible?

Set you expectations low. The Xbox One can't play all Xbox 360 games, and I doubt the PS5 will support all PS4 games. As such, don't sell your Xbone/PS4 expecting all the games you bought to be playable on the PS5. Any and all rumours claiming that the PS5 can play all PS1, 2, and 4 games should be discarded.

360 to X1 was a big architecture change. It's quite amazing actually how well Microsoft managed to emulate one with another. Also PS3 to PS4 was an even bigger architectural change and much more difficult job to emulate SPUs. PS4 to PS5 and X1 to XSX will be much easier. If anything, PS3 emulation is going to be a bitch. Personally, I don't see the appeal and reason to play those low-res, jaggy games from PS3 era again but that's me.

Maybe the CPU as well, but had that advantage with the original PS4 as well. PS4 Pro doesn't have a faster HDD anyway, both are 3Gb/s (Gigabits not Gigabytes) and nearly all of the aftermarket HDD's are 6Gb/s!

Your HDD upgrade was noticeable probably because it's a 7200 RPM drive as compared to 5400 RPM stock drive (they're a bit cheaper so you get that in standard). Those have better seek times (SSD has them much better). The bottleneck of storage in PS4 is SATA2 bus (3 GB/s) so your SATA3 drive can't work faster. Fun fact: external SSD in PS4Pro is a bit faster than when you install it internally. I don't remember the exact reason (must be something with the USB controller) but it's even more convenient to put an external drive next to the console than replace the internal one. Plus you don't have to spend big on 2 TB SSD (still around the price of the console, I guess). I keep the games I play most often on it and move some games there and back or just re-download them. The problem is, it usually me takes longer to install (it's called "copying") the game than to download it. Another problem is that games when patched need double their size of space on the drive so when I'm matching a motherfucker of BFV for example, it's over 200 GB (half of my SSD) I need. PS4 storage hardware and software (file system) is ancient right now and that new tech in PS5 is my biggest expectation, much more important for me than the puberty issue.

PC gaming is worst than buying a high-end phone annually. That's why I went to a more wrokload suffecient card (Radeon VII), which is an undervover workstation card, instead of 2080 or even 2080ti. Waiting for Big Navi for future proofing (8K and 4K raw videos editing power). Gaming on it would be a side dish. I would be suffocated if the main purpose of the build is gaming after spending ~$3300 last year (paid me $4680 back few months later so it's a smart investment so far).

So my advice would be having PC gaming as a "pleasant" side effect of the core purpose of your PC to avoid annual frustrations with new tech and stick to consoles instead.

Well ... IMO either there is not only one solution, but there are several partial solutions that have to be combined to form a total solution, or it is really so extremely hidden that the path to the solution is long and complicated. Both would go with "You must also reason your deduction".

If you have 2-3 hours a day tops to play games, spending a grand on hardware is out of the question for me.

Not acting like a smart investor though, I once spent more than $60K modding 4x4 cars and swapping engines within 6 years, then went to purpose-only before I got married. It’s going to be slightly higher not lower. So expect 12.185 tflops with 56 CUs at 1.7 GHz GPU clockspeed. If it had been under 12 they would have reported an exact figure below 12. The PS5 will also do something similar. If they have 11.1 or 12.1 it will be 11 or 12. Otherwise they’ll give exact figures i.e 11.6 or 12.6
