I understand having brand loyalty after having a Xbox or Playstation for years, and that's totally fine. I'm a Playstation guy myself. What I don't understand is how toxic things have gotten over these two console's specs...it's ridiculous. You'd think you would want both consoles to be insane, and for studios on both sides to pump out the best games possible. Wanting one console to be worse in some aspect is such a weird concept.

We also know the cost of the BOM of the PS5 is less than that of the Xbox Series X, and has an elaborate cooling solution which pushed up the cost, also the SSD is faster than the Xbox Series X and obviously will cost more to implement over the Xbox Series X.

Sony would have had to make a cut somewhere, and since the both consoles are using same CPU it's either the RAM or GPU that is were the cut lies.... Why would Sony clock a GPU to 2ghz if not to close the gap on Xbox Series X if the number of Cu's in the PS5 were the Same as the Xbox Series X..... Makes no sense unless of course the CU's in the PS5 are in fact less than the Xbox Series X.


That's why I'm sticking with the PS5 at 9tfs....

If I'm wrong so be it, I'll face it.
I won't run away, and hide like some have already.

No, we don't know if the BOM is less than the Xbox Series X, we don't know what the BOM for either of them is. If your source for that is a Forbes contributor article... *shakes head*
Clocking their GPU @ 2GHz is cray cray, it'll be too hot, it's an APU, you need to cool the whole thing. 9.2 TF isn't closing a gap.
We know for sure that it is RDNA2, it was mentioned multiple times by AMD, and RDNA2 is Navi 2X. There is no Navi 10 with ray tracing, only Navi 2X+ GPUs.

We'll IIRC Mod of War said that they haven't seen anyone really reporting these users as of late. If there's an issue with the people you're ignoring, report them and the Mods will look into it. That should at least dissapate some of the nonsense in here.

All this despite hearing with my own ears that Hardware RT is only possible with RDNA2 and that Sony and MS would be using the latest RDNA technology. PS5 is RDNA2, though AMD couldn’t explicitly say so without Sony.

Some people are terrible at drawing inferences. RDNA 1 doesn't support hardware based ray-tracing. AMD: Consoles support latest rdna/ray tracing. Ergo, RDNA 2 is the latest. Ergo, it's starting to rain, maybe it's the clouds above, maybe I'm wet... Maybe, we shall see until I confirm.

It's just an idea, but if you look at that one APU leak (a few weeks back, black background with white and red text) it mentioned a 22/24CU chip with TDP-down specifically listed among other things.

I thought it was interesting TDP-down would be listed because we haven't seen that with any of the other console or PC card-orientated APU entries that have been found. So I just thought that could be hinting at a portable hybrid or something like that, sort of like the Switch.

And with their partnership with Samsung, I figure why not let Samsung handle distribution of a specialty mobile phone-like device with proper full console-style physical controls that can also be docked to play at home locally, in the Asian markets? It could be a smartphone device basically that they still provide to customers on mobile data plans through the carriers, but they maybe could look to sell it themselves with the physical controls like that mockup shows, and a dock as well so fuller GPU clocks could be unlocked?

2.xTF in mobile form, 3.96TF when docked, basically fitting to be a 1080p local native gaming device when docked or 720p/1080i local native gaming device when portable, but essentially designed like a smartphone with all the usual functionality, optimized for gaming and Xcloud.

Samsung can handle distribution in Asian regions, they work something out with MS in Western territories and can position it as a high-end smartphone over here that can also work seamlessly with XSX. But in areas like Asia, basically push it rather than the XSX in those territories where traditional consoles aren't doing that well (like Japan).

That's what I'm thinking/hoping the Samsung partnership is actually entailing because it could work out very well for MS in territories Xbox has had problems in and Samsung carries a lot of presence in the mobile market as a whole, but especially in places like South Korea and other Asian countries where MS wants Xcloud to break into.

Pretty cool idea. i wouldn't mind more emulation of the Nintendo Switch concept. I guess in the next 6months or so we will see how ambitions the two parties are.

Hello good sir. It would be best to watch the AMD stream before coming out with such questions/facts you have stated.
BOM article by Forbes is more like a estimate by the author. It was not a definite fact. No such breakdown on each parts for each consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X). Take that with a pinch of salt.
As such we cannot refer to that as a source. Just speculations.

As for github, it might be accurate at a certain point of time (possibly PS5 2019/Early dev kits) but with AMD saying that both consoles are RDNA2 as per their slides, it is therefore questionable right now.
If rogamer was correct with his tweet which includes details of Ariel and Oberon, then its almost in the bin as that data for the chips are based on RDNA 1 / Navi10 lite. That is also included in the github leak as well.

I am not sure why you are questioning on those points. (on PS5 being on RDNA 1 or 2)

As for the 9.2TFs, it is still within speculation though i am more inclined that it would be higher than that. Have a look at the table below for Navi21 (as both consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X are based on RDNA2)

Number of estimated CUs it could have is more than github data. I dont see any reason why Sony would be limited by this unless it is not within their set budget on the SOC.
