Not changing mine I still say the XsX will have the power advantage though the V will come close, within the 10% I have stood by.

All chatter seems to point to a bigger number then 12 which being a Playstation fan first I will love but not changing my numbers just because it looks like I am wrong.

I will go down just being wrong and I am ok with that.

My final number is close to 11.2
thanks for your input!

Really?

It looks gorgeous... can't wait to see what the new systems offer graphics-wise even for current gen games.
I think it looks like complete shit. I'm sure the XSX can produce mind-blowing ray-traced graphics so why on earth would they use Minecraft to showcase this? I don't get it.

It's not Gears 5 even with RT but the objective there was to show the raw differences no RT vs RT, and Minecraft is one of those games that gets completely transformed by it. You are basically turning on and off Minecraft 2, the jump side by side is blind-proof.

There's just no way Sony will release a console costing more than the XSX.... So for me the PS5 will be less powerful in terms of GPU processing.... I can see the SSD being twice as fast, and more RAM available for Devs but not by much.

If the PS5 has a smaller APU then surely there will be less CU's... They can only clock the thing so much...

If the CU's are maxed to 40 you would need to clock them to 2.6ghz to get 13.3 tfs.

Let's see if I'm proven right or wrong tomorrow. 🤔

love these denial posts lol, you guys were beating that dead horse (Github) for months on end and now tweets from insiders and hype is building for tomorrow, the fact Sony releasing details literally a day or so after Xbox has seem to ruffled your feathers.

Even if PS5 is 12TF like the SeX it’s still a win win for the PS camp.

It's a direct response to Xbox choosing tomorrow as an unveil date and a direct response to the 12tf, I'm sure we will. This is Sony trying to steal the show and show it has a dick as big or bigger. We just won't get pricing.
Sounds good if that's the case. To be honest I'm fine with 10TF. TF is not all there is to a console. Stadia is 10,7TF right? Yet xbox one x outperformed it in every game they compared between the two and x is around 6TF I belive?

Little kids play minecraft, little kids won't give a shit about ray tracing. Minecraft was never about graphics, so yeah it is a bad showcase.
They showed what they have. It's not like they have so many games in development they can choose what to show.

Still, who's impressed? Really? There's got to be something better to give us a glimpse of why next-gen hardware needs RT and what we can expect? It's apples and oranges.

Thts only bcus it's a streaming console lol ps4 pro outperforms it too For the most part. Btw I'm OK with 10tf too but I'm sure based off rumors and this direct aggressive approach it's more 😊

I wonder how many will "self isolate" AKA request a ban after tomorrow.

Here's what I realistically expect from tomorrow with word that the content, or at least some of it, was meant for GDC.
  • RDNA and Zen architectures confirmed, potentially the process also, but we kinda know it's going to be 7NM+ like xbox
  • RT breakdown.
  • Memory breakdown
  • Benefits of the CPU and SSD
  • GPU being able to hit up the SSD directly
  • Some videos demonstrating the key features such as RT, loading times etc. Not necessarily games, maybe some PS4 games with these features enabled to show the differences at a push.
What I don't expect but will be pleasantly surprised at if it shows up:
  • Final TFLOPs, this probably wouldn't have been mentioned at GDC.
  • No retail box, but maybe a dev kit.
  • Cooling system not to be detailed
  • Specific clocks to be announced
  • Something from Sucker Punch, Guerrilla or ND

I guess I just don't agree (and that's fine) because I'm impressed, it's impressive that you can enhance visuals so much with this, you won't see that level of integration on true next gen games but I find it very interesting to simply understand how far this technique can go. Also, could really bring new life to older games, much more than bump in resolution can do in remasters, which is ironic.

I thought it looked lame. Mostly because I was spoiled by this:

For sure, but vanilla Minecraft is necessary to notice the real difference. I wasn't even aware Gears 5 has some RT stuff on SeX, I just didn't notice. Someone can think whatever it wants anyway, it's really not important.
However, according to DF, Minecraft on SeX is using Path Tracing which is even more complex than RT, so it's a full display of this tech you probably can't have on new games but it could be useful with older ones.

Everyone in here is focusing on the wrong thing TFs. I want to see guesses of how the presentation starts. Open PS5 logo blue sky pan down to a sidewalk leading into a nice house front door goes up stairs seems like no ones home but you see portraits of sony characters along the staircase and down the hallway at the top of the stairs camera goes down hallway to a portrait of knack on the door giving a thumbs up door opens its a huge bathroom with a gaint jacuzzi full of bubbles and slowly the bubbles start to raise on the end farthest from the camera and its Mark Cerny under them he winks at the camera then the real camera pulls away from a screen and you see the screen is on a stage and the real Mark Cerny walks out and says believe it or not that was all rendered in real time on the PS5 and here is how it does it and gives the tech specs.

Because Minecraft, and Quake 2, are the only games currently to have 100% path traced RT, the hardest RT to do. Plus Minecraft is their game, so its not exactly rocket science. It wasnt being shown to show off next gen graphics, it was to show off the RT capabilities.
