PS5, because I can trust games from Atlus, SE’s next Dragon Quest and most Japanese games get released on PlayStation system and meanwhile have Nintendo system to get Japanese games that PlayStation doesn’t get.

Based on this gen, I don't think Xbox has anything to offer me. This why I don’t care about power behind my consoles because the fact is power won’t automatically get me the games I want.

Not sure if I want either of them.
But if, I'd go for the MS console the first time in my life.

* The XSEX seems to be an all around great design
* Most of the studios (Double fine, Ninja Theory, Obisidian, Inxile) MS purchased over the last year have been favourites of mine since many years and I am looking forward to what they will achieve with higher budgets.
* I really like how Phil Spencer has been communicating about the brand over the last years.
* While I acknowledge that many people like what Sony has been doing with their franchises over the last years, I am simply not a fan of that type of game myself.
* Dat 12.2 TF.

Anyway, both consoles will be great, I am very sure.

PS5 because I know I’ll actually get good exclusives. I’ll rebuild my PC rig and throw a few bucks at GamePass so I can play all their stuff without having to purchase a XSX and waste $500.

Xbox series x at launch cause we will get better support for older games which is the best way to compensate the cost from early adopters ; I get the idea to play launch exclusives at first but I don't wanna rush through better games before finishing the older ones; I just unsubed from many youtubers who puts the walk through of recently released games while talking and use it as an excuse to push you playing it earlier to stop spoiling ourselves , I'm sorry, that's just not me , they don't deserve our attentions for their cheap contents let alone the spoiling part of them.

Technically that's true, but the additional options are "neither" and "undecided," which wouldn't necessarily skew the results. People voting "neither" would've just opted out in the previous poll, and there's no reason to suppose that "undecided" voters would be leaning in one direction rather than the other.

If you just use the raw votes (not percentages) in the first 3 rows, it should be roughly comparable. That's what I did in the post above (#86).

Hey, bud. Andy from Union.

Oh hi there long time friend. Hope you're doing well!

PS5.

MS has yet to show me that they will really bet on supplying quality games to the console. I don't want the carelessness they have had in this generation with games to be repeated

I hope that it is another generation like the xbox 360, that's what I have to see. Because in the end what matters are games.

I was always only going to buy the XsX, the world's most powerful console ever, and now that's been confirmed I'm not about to do anything different.

Both on day one, without even thinking.

Both will offer an amazing game experience, and I like the exclusives of both. (I don't play games on PC)

Here's an update about the main stat, after another hundred votes have come in (currently 236).

There is a 1.52 to 1 ratio between PS5 buyers (134) and XSX buyers (88) owners in the current poll. Prior to the tech reveals, the ratio was 2.26 to 1. That means, at least as far as GAF voters go, that the tech reveals have resulted in a significant shift away from the PS5 and toward the XSX.

I think that shows that this site isn't just "SonyGAF," filled with Sony fanboys who will rigidly defend their console no matter what. If it were, Sony wouldn't have lost 59% of its lead. That's a sharp drop.

There’s no benefit to owning a PlayStation. Weak backwards compatibility. Underpowered. It’s really just a poor console all around.

Series X for third parties, PC for PlayStation exclusives.
Makes no sense. If you have a pc you have no reason to have an Xbox. And playstation exclusives on PC based on what? Horizon? lol that's delusional.
And underpower is kind of an overstatement. Based on last gen, the 35 percent power disadvantage the xbox one had was hardly much of a problem. Games ran fine, and this time, a 15 percent differential at 4k resolutions is going to be rather hard to notice. I'm far more excited to see what PS5 can do with its tech and larger memory pool compared to Xbox.

A PSVR2 reveal with Half Life Alyx would be awesome...
Yep, I'd go for that. I'd like akimbo VR controllers that are at least as articulated as current PC VR handsets. Some form of foveated rendering hasn't been confirmed but my fingers are crossed. The PS5 already has the 3D audio stuff on lock so I'm quite hopeful they'll knock it out of the park at a decent price.

We'll see. I loved PS VR but sold it to someone who got more use out of it. Even though I have PS4 Pro now, I think I'll skip the current headset and get the next one, assuming Sony does a good job with it.

I'm getting a ps5. I very much enjoy Sony's first party games.

You can't use logic to dissuade someone who's viewpoint doesn't come from logic.

It's going to be interesting to see what the X can pump out, but there's still the reality that MS themselves already said they are only going to have enhanced current-gen games on it for at least a full year. Hopefully Minecraft Raytracing Edition comes out during the launch year or some of the 3rd parties have some good stuff cooked up.

PS5, maybe 2 depending on how BC is....

Then an Alienware PC once the new Nvidia cards release and as long as it has NVME for faster SSD speeds etc. Even though I'll probably use it mostly for old games like Homeworld and C&C Generals etc.

I'm not getting PlayStation for the first time in 25 years on day 1. Although ultra quality exclusives are on the road, this machine does not give the iconic image of PlayStation. On the other hand, it doesn't have a any quality exclusives, but I see a company that has studied his course very, very, very well and designed a successful product for multiplatform games.

So... Xbosex is my day 1, after two years, I'm going to think about the real PS5, the PS5 Pro.

Slowstation 5 on day 1

Maybe a series x later down the line. Don't really need it cos PC but lets see.

I'm the opposite. I haven't owned an XBox since the 360, so XBox for me (to take advantage of Gamepass), and the PS5 a year or two later when there will inevitably be some must-have exclusives.

As someone who changed from 360 > PS4 because of performance per $

The PS5 from these specs needs to be at least $150 cheaper for me to consider it. The price is super important to Sony now. If the price is anywhere close, Xbox will close the lead again.

The SSD performance will not make any substantial difference to running games, random access speeds will be very similar.

Neither.

And if these polls are anything to go off of, I don't see how putting exclusives to PC will be impacting sales?

Looks to me like everyone already made up their minds regardless.

So what was all the bitching and whining about?

I'm still shocked that people don't understand Microsoft's vision. Microsoft doesn't care if you play their games on a XBox One, XBox Series X, PC, Smartphone or even a Toaster :D

As long as you play their games, Microsoft won ;)

Isn't it just, just when you think all of the fuckwits migrated to Reeesetera...
