This makes much more sense from a marketing standpoint than Sony panicking behind the scenes and scrambling to try and figure out how to save themselves this coming gen. Microsoft has been very up front about everything involving the Series X and has put Sony in a weird place with gamers at the moment, so them taking their time to make sure they absolutely nail a reveal event makes much more sense.

Sony is far from a “bad light” right now trust and believe! Wish people would stop the Sony doom and gloom narratives because they’re no doing what MS is doing!

if you were trying gain mindshare after the disaster of the 1X reveal, then this is how you would go about it! It’s basically cleanup just as Sony did with there PS3 get a second job!

You'd think with diminishing returns people would fight less on pixels but no... Pics will now look exactly the same between PC / PS5 / XSX... And so will FPS very soon.

which is what I was saying all along even back when the github leak suggested 9.2TF, and now it's even closer.
what could make a big difference is the Raytracing performance tho, that's where Microsoft could have a huge advantage.

With cross-gen games, there could be a scenario where both look identical (hence 'Balls' sounding the troops about Sony enforcing some sort of parity clause) but Series X has the raw compute advantage which should push better frames and IQ over time.

I'm mostly intrigued by when FP stuff is shown by both parties over the course of summer, no matter how much money MS throw at these devs. Having to cater to 2013 potatoes will bring their games down. There is a reason Phil Spencer rocked up to TGA with footage of HellBlade 2 and not cross-gen games like next Forza and Halo.

Sony don't have to worry about this, at least on FP front. There's an opening for them to kick-start this with footage of next Horizon/Spider-Man.

the leak depicted a chip that was used for a PS5 dev kit. it had revisions over the months but we didn't have details on them
the fact remained tho that this chip was the PS5 target, and that target didn't change much over time, all that really changed was an upgrade to RDNA2 and an overclock

The reason I brought up the selling is, because Cerny has a financial stake in what he tells you. I do not. It is his job to hide or downplay the weaknesses of the PS5 and play to its strengths. I do not have that.

If you want to buy a PS5, that's your choice. As of right now, MS has given the better impression with the XSX. They have shown multiple things. Simple, understandable things.
Sony on the other hand has created a shitstorm with all the talk and little showing of things. The technological aspects are interesting, but the PS5 can only beat the XSX in one thing; loading times. Whether you care or not is up to you. After all, many people find the PS games superior. And that is perfectly fine and justifiable to go for a PS5 instead of the XSX. But if you're going to get a console for the multiplats, the XSX is simply the way to go. Assuming of course, you don't care about BC etc. There are many variables, and everyone needs to decide for themselves what the best console is for their own use.

Dictator isn't worth listening to when it comes to hardware, he's been skeptical about consoles from get-go. First PS5 DF direct which they did, he flat out said that there won't be hardware based RT. Followed it up another one of his lavish predictions in 2nd PS5 DF direct. After seeing how he was schooled by a former ND dev and then backtracking on SSD, I'm convinced he knows even less that I initially thought.
