If you guys really want it, someone will be more than happy to sell it to you for well above retail price. Sucks, but there’s still an avenue.

I would have probably gone that route for my Animal Crossing Switch. Really surprised I scored it between Nintendo + World Events.

I feel like Nintendo needs to do a better job there. This is general observations, not close scrutiny, and I haven’t followed the Nintendo limited edition scene for some time, but it seems like the other guys always have enough special edition consoles and games to go around.

Well, limited means limited.

And I suspect people are a little more frenzied about a LE for Xenoblade, for example, than when Sony or Microsoft puts out some bullshit Assassin's Creed edition of their consoles.

So I got into a 3 men match in Smash earlier and there's this dude playing Bowser Jr. just hugging the corner of the stage sniping fools with long range bombs and actively avoiding contact once battle went his way.

The Smash Bros camper, holy fuck!

Yeah. Limited doesn’t mean unobtainable though, and it typically does for Nintendo products.

Likewise, it isn’t strictly collectors with an eye on market value — it’s also passionate fans, who would genuinely love to own something so cool. Making it so difficult on them every time is nonsense.

Assassin’s Creed is about the most unfavorable comparison to pick, but even there, plenty more people love Assassin’s Creed than Xenoblade (not saying that shows exemplary taste), and they all walk away satisfied.

Nintendo should do better for their fans.

The ability to punch someone in the shoulder in local play for being an asshat, needs to somehow be transferred to online.

I was astonished. Fittingly since I'm quoting you, I main Zero Suit Samus so I tend to be annoying to play against because I mostly dodge and counterattack so I know regular defensive playstyle. It wasn't like that, this dude was giving me WingsOfRedemption flashbacks.

Yeah. I've seen the same. It's so irritating. They'll usually park right under one of the platforms on the right side of the stage (three platform default layout), and just spam one move over and over again until they win.

It's like, did you really enjoy yourself playing like that? Lol.

Got lucky and managed to get a hold of a new and sealed copy of Blasphemous for a good price. It was a limited run release so very hard to find for me since I don´t import. Been wanting to have this physical for a long time.

I don't want any more goddamn mobile ports from Square.

I would accept a definitive addition of Dragon Quest VIII, however. Or the VII remake the 3DS got.

So bros, I'm at a dilemma here. I'm a physical only boomer that really rejects the notion of buying digital games unless I'm not given a choice, but given our current situation (especially here in Brazil) it will be tough for me to buy Animal Crossing physically for quite a long time. Should I cave and go digital? I mean, it's a good game to have digitally, because it's nice to play it alongside other games and you don't really beat it in the traditional sense, so going digital would make it easier to play it more often. I'm torn.

I was in same situation as you for Persona 5 Royal and eventually decided to go with digital. I love having physical copy but at end of the day I want to play my favourite game as soon as I can.

Playing as soon as possible is a good way to look at this considering we have no idea when this situation will end.

Series producer Keisuke Kikuchi:

even though I have these hopes, this is a series that Nintendo publishes for us and I only handle the development. So even if I were to say I want to make another game, that doesn’t necessarily mean that’s what will happen.

As for Fatal Frame 2 and 4, Nintendo handles the publishing rights, so we don’t exactly have a say in that matter. Another factor would be is that I’m basically overseeing the Gust brand at this moment, and to secure production lines and team members, in the short-term it would also be very difficult, but in the long run I’ve never really given up the idea. So in the short-term it’s not exactly realistic at the moment.

I made the shift this gen. Did it a couple years ago after being all physical up until that point. While, all things equal, I prefer physical copies, they've largely become useless this gen. Between games that aren't even complete on the disc/cart itself, myriad patches, and DLC; you're missing so much of the game on that disc/cart that I just don't see the value anymore. I'm comfortable with digital as long as consoles aren't trying to phone home.

I haven't regretted it, either. I don't feel like I've lost anything by ditching the physical copies, and there is definitely an appeal to a massive grid of game icons in my Switch library that I can play whenever I want.

What would be the downside of digital in this case?

It's a borderline irrational cling to physical media, I just like having shit on my shelf lol. I don't claim it makes a lot of sense and there's definitely some upside in a digital/mixed collection like Danny Dudekisser Danny Dudekisser mentioned. I think I'm going to try it, the alternative is bleak for me to play AC anytime soon otherwise.

Yes thats what I did irmao, go for it. I made my Switch games exclusively digital because the game sizes aren’t that big. So I bought a nice SD card and all my games are three clicks away

I'm going for it! The Switch is a bit of a pain to Switch games if you play it docked, I can't remove that shit unless I take the system out. I'm convinced.

Yea but with how popular the Switch is now. If things ever got super apocalyptic, think about how much physical switch games would be worth for trading. You could probably trade for a cow or a goat for a couple of switch games.

Doesn't matter to me honestly cause I never sell my things

Why is gaming so expensive in Brazil? I've read you have ridiculous prices, up to 1800 dollars for a PS4? Is that true? Are games and consoles hard to find too? Seems like a nightmare to be a gamer in Brazil.

It's not quite that extreme, but it's pretty bad (although the PS4 did launch for something like that lol). It's a bit of a shit combo. There's high taxes in place, our local currency is usually devalued so imported goods are expensive anyway and there's just not enough money to spend on your hobbies because cost of living is high. It's significantly cheaper to buy games that are published inside the country, like a lot of the bigger PS4 games have Brazilian units that drop in price frequently. It's not all of them and some can be frustrating to find, mainly RPGs. I couldn't find Lacrimosa of Dana for the PS4. For those games that are not published here, you have to rely on importers and that can get crazy expensive.

Hardware is a overall worse than software, I paid roughly the equivalent of US$ 450-500 at the time on my Switch. But since we don't buy hardware as much anyway it's not as annoying as games themselves. Some items are down to luck, like I paid the equivalent of 30 dollars for the Decisive Edition version of Trials of Cold Steel on the PS4. That might sound mundane, but it was a rare game to find here and it's still sold for way more than that.

So the short version is that being a gamer in Brazil is hard, being a Nintendo fan in Brazil is a nightmare and being an anime tiddy fan is eternal pain and damnation.

It's funny because i feel exactly the same. Ordered a physical copy online but 2 weeks later and nothing has shown up. I'd say go digital.

So, I've been catching up on a lot of random games on the Switch, and I finally got around to Blaster Master Zero. Finished it about a week ago. That was a really fun game.

Okay, but like. Blaster Master Zero 2? That is a FUCKING GREAT game. The first game was basically like "let's remake Blaster Master and keep it relatively authentic." BMZ2 is like "fuck it, do whatever the hell you want." It's a massively better game in every regard.

I'd recommend it.

Sounds rough. I read that Nintendo pulled out of the Brazilian market in 2015 due to high tariffs. Do you have to import their products or do they still have a presence with official channels? And what about anime, are there a lot censorship and banning of lewd games enforced by your government?

What's everyone playing now besides Animal Crossing? I have 4 more Chapter 4's on Octopath and I am finally wrapping that up. 82 hours in. What a great game.

I started Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. I'm like... I dunno, most of the way through it now? It's really well-designed. I also replayed Mighty Switch Force HD, which is still fantastic. I got really good at that game on the WiiU, so even though it's been more than 6 years since I last played it, I breezed through that thing.

Putting off any longer games for the time being, because as soon as FFVII Remake drops, that's where I'm gonna be.

No physical presence, but you can buy digital games through their official storefront. It's surprisingly cheap when you convert, considering 1 USD = 5,25 reais and the games cost R$ 250, that means you end up paying less than 50 bucks on them. Problem is, no physical games, those you need to import and it's significantly more expensive.

No censorship or stuff being banned thus far. Our president did just do a prayer and fasting day to fight the Covid after spending days urging people to go outside since "some will die, but that's life" so you never know, we may get there.

I am still trying to finish DQ 11. This game keeps going and going ( in a good way ). First DQ for me and I am now a fan. After this I'll probably start DQ 1 and work my way up. However, I also want to get on the hype train and try Animal Crossing.

I'm playing Dragon Quest XI, 40 hours in and I think I'm nearing the end. 10-15 hours to go maybe.

I have also played a shitload of Dragon's Dogma. Completed the main campaign and am halfway through Bitterblack Isle. Going NG+ but that have to wait because I'm gearing up for Hellpoint that releases on the 16th.

I'm playing The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel on PC before XC: DE arrives, probably will get TOCS2 as well before switching to Switch for 3 and 4. I'm more of an action RPG kinda guy, but the world and characters seem intriguing on this one.
