Now they're on a new gen, I fail to believe they won't add back buttons so everyone can have them.

Maybe they just don't want to cannabalise sales of the back button attachment for DS4 yet.

hm... maybe they are there. We just don't know for certain.

I'm pretty sure Sony would have mentioned it. You can only really announce something like this once. I gather the will release an "elite" in the future. MS doesn't have back buttons on thier new standard controller either. Perhaps they feel having paddles on the standard controllers forces dev's to use them . Its only supposed to be a way to map already exsiting buttons. I wonder if the exsisting ones will work?

Looks good but bit worried about the shiny feel of buttons and d-pad....

and looks a little thick around the sides to get to the analogue. But Im sure they tested it to feel awesome. Looking forward to testing the new feel of it.

It looks great, just needs to have solid build quality and some nice colour variations like the metallic red and steel blue from earlier.
Seems really comfortable and I love the white buttons...

It will not be the DualShock when you have to look for it on Amazon under DualSense. People adapt very fast, everyone will call it the right name in no time.

Same when the PS3 came out with the Sixaxis. People were calling it the right name, Sixaxis. Only later the DualShock 3 came with rumble etc.

Theoretically, like in the PS3 generation, we could still see a DS5, if Sony decides to make some changes and bring back the old name. But I feel this is a long term strategic change. The whole package seems to walk away from a gamey image to a futuristic high tech device, and the name helps.

I like what they die with the shoulder buttons and triggers especially.

sad to see the colours of the buttons go tho... this is the first time they have colourless buttons on home console. only their handhelds did that in the past.

I have a white dualshock and it's perfectly fine. I use it the most since it's my favorite of the set (I have 5 different).

Maybe it is because I just keep my hands clean.

I don't think i like that. the 3 color motif of white, black and <lightbar color> ofsets each other quite nicely. But I do wish the face buttons had their etchings in a bolder font than the 1 line grey of the real controller.

Yeah, I think there is a balance to be struck. The colours could be toned down on the face buttons without having them be completely grey. Minor complaints overall. It's a very unique looking controller and if the hype is justified, it's appearance will be forgotten about.

I love the improvements. Not sure I like the two tone paint scheme, though. I'd rather have a black controller, but I'm sure they'll have more colors available at or around launch. Can't wait to see the console itself!
