You can either go into the future or past; where do you go?

Bored as shit. So what would you pick? Somewhere into the future or past. You can only go to one place. You're nothing more than a viewer of where you go and don't impact it in any aspect.

My pick would be see dinosaurs but seeing if Jesus Christ was legit would be a second.

I'd want to go back to a period with advanced civilization pre-modern civilization - assuming such a state existed on Earth.(and I think it has - perhaps many, many times) But without know the time frame, it would be hard to pinpoint. So having said that, I'd want to see how some of the more mind-blowing aspects of the Egyptian pyramids were constructed.

I'd go back to August 2015 and place a £200 bet on Leicester City winning the PL title. The current odds at the time were 5000/1 , so I would have won enough money to buy a house outright and live a comfortable life.

Maybe this is a little unambitious, but for all the mysteries of the far past and the future, I feel like I’m most tempted by the chance to see loved ones who have passed away and old friends again. Even in some weird de-attached way, it would still mean a lot to me.

What’d I’d really love is to alter the rules, and just spend a day with them, without changing the future.

Was that a typo because I don't understand the question?

Sorry if you go back in time with 2020 money especially plastic notes it would impossible, unless you find 200 pounds in older money.
I've often wondered about time travel and that's always been the flaw I've saw.

I can relate, I lost a older brother years ago and would almost do anything to see him again.

For the OP’s question, I always wondered if the ancient Greek philosophers were really as smart as history tells us and see how advanced ( or not ) the culture was back in the day.

Very tough call, but future. I love history and there's so many things I'd like to go back in time and see. Renaissance Italy, ancient Rome, the pyramids being built, medieval England, finding out who The Zodiac was, etc.

But at least I have historical general knowledge of those things. I'd wanna go in the future and see if we ever evolve to supreme beings and if we can travel and colonize other planets and if we come up with cures for diseases and stuff and how amazing our technology gets.

If time was geographical in nature I'd go back and never return to this asylum that is the world of today, that's for sure.
I bet if you lined up an exhaustive list of all the positives and negatives from all eras of history including the present moment, the present moment would still come out on top.

it’s easy and lazy to focus on one aspect of life that you don’t like now and generalize from there that everything else is shit and we’d all be better off if we could go to a past era.

I am numb from all the dumb shit that happens today. We are assaulted from all sides continuously. The fact that people can find a normal in all this just makes it more sad.

EDIT:
Hot damn it would make an amazing scifi movie where someone had a time machine and would try to go and see dinosaurs but would learn the Young Earth creationists were right and he would end up in pure timeless spaceless nothingness!

Assuming it was a one-time chance, probably to the past. Future could be worse as we have no way to now what we were getting into. Past we could pick a time we'd like to go back to, or that was before our time, with knowledge we could use to get rich etc.

For a boring pick if we need to be specific, I'd probably go back to the 90s. Still my favorite decade, but I was in middle school through first couple of years of college and didn't have the money (along with being in a crappy rural state) to see the bands I still love to this day or generally enjoy things. Plus I could take money back with me and get rich on tech stocks and sell before the dotcom bubble burst and be rich and have it made. Not that I'm struggling now or anything as we're pretty damn fortunate. But it would be nice to enjoy the 90s as an adult and be able to retire early instead of typical age.

The future. Why would I EVER go to the past unless it's before Colonialism.

I'd only do it if I was outside of time as an observer of past events.

Going by the OPs rules (one shot. Only observe. No influencing/effecting) I’d just shoot 30 years to the future and see what’s up. See what ends up happening within relatively my lifetime and return and go about my business.

I definitely wouldn't go forward a little bit where I might be alive but ...might not be. Jump a couple of hundred years into the future so your own future is well in the past.

You guys going back into the past is silly . Just let the past , be a past .

For me I would go to 3020 and .... find out the earth is already abandoned as a wasteland :messenger_grinning_squinting:

There is so much shit I'd wanna see and so many different times I'd want to go to in the past that I wouldn't be able to choose just one, so I will go with the future.
At least that way I can gain a bunch of knowledge we don't have today and get rich or something.
