But Halo was build as this generation game.
They probably don’t have any game build for next-gen this year... that is why they set the 2 years deadline to have Series X only games.

MS probably though Halo Infinite could launch last year and that is why it is build for this gen.
They lost their game director, ain't no way it was launch last year

What do you think of this? Ryan McCaffrey of IGN is stating that the fact that Sony is committed to making PS5 exclusives from the start means that Sony will not have its SmartDelivery, does it make sense? I think it's early to say something like that.

I like Ryan, but he must’ve written this in a 3am daze from bed, or drunk. Games from that date will need to have PS5 compiled code, just like PRO needed code. This immediately confirms taking advantage of the full PS5 processing power, better framerates, res, etc. SmartDelivey built in! How well each dev handles this is up in the air.

Secondly XsX not held back by Xbox one ‘like pc’s aren’t’, seriously does he work in gaming or cleans ign offices for a living? All games that work on Jaguar and 1.3tf are design constrained, which includes a majority of games released on PC.

Edit : I can see many already have addressed this more eloquently than I, ignore my post in the interest of time.

Found the original article, it's from Financial Times.

Jim Ryan: As Sony prepares to unveil the PS5’s first slate of games at an online showcase next week, manufacturing of the new console has begun, said Jim Ryan, president and chief executive of Sony Interactive Entertainment. “It will ramp [up] over the course of the summer,” he said. “People are quite surprised by this but we are on track . . . We believe we’ll have quantities sufficient to support a global launch.
Yea, I think we're seeing the console design during next week's event. They surely don't want leaks coming out of the production line during mass-production.

I’m talking about members of this threads behavior toward mark Cerny not mark Cernys behavior. Plus he rarely uses twitter so is rarely to interact with anyone.
You missed the point, the reason why some people talk about some MS representatives here is because they usually engage with trolls like TimDog to pander to their radical BS.

When you see that behavior from Mark Cerny, quote me back.
Fine I’ll just report it and leave it alone.
Do it.

The last time people reported BO to "get him banned" ended themself with a reply ban.

I know im lttp but what excited me the most recently is the ue5 demo running in real time on a console
Thats the next gen impression i was looking forward and im happy devs are willing to target 1440p/30fps to deliver insane visuals and worlds of great scope.

I was afraid all the marketing towards 4k/60fps would make them shy to push things further

Indeed! The final result is what matters. We didn't experience such a thing to know it was possible, that's why we were lost in the 4K@60fps thing.

Welcome back, brother!

Oh man I’m so excited for the PlayStation 5 reveal!

The Last of Us Part 2 has been really getting the love back to guys who hated it because of the leaks now it is getting lots of recognition again and lots likes and love, and there’s something I pointed out on Twitter and hopefully one of the guys at Naughty Dog can notice me in the next hours, but I have pointed out with a small comparison that I have made with TLOU 2 between E3 2018 VS latest one 2020.

I know, different settings/lighting etc.... But what I want to highlight is the fact that both images retain the same graphics/effects/lighting/textures/reflections pipeline which is what really makes me happy that there is no downgrade, it is more of an upgrade even.

Naughty Dog is amazing! I just can’t believe they have pulled these visuals off a base 1.8 TF with Jaguar CPU console!

Anyways, here’s the comparison...E3 2018 VS Latest one:

Also heres’s another one as well, which is a much better comparison and a like-for-like image comparison, we can see here there’s an even bigger upgrade to the character models, textures and water-on-clothes/faces shaders, it looks NEXT-GEN, it’s unbelievable!

The game got upgraded visually, it is probably the best looking game I have ever seen! I just want that PS5 4K/60FPS remaster and I’ll gladly double-dip for it! 🔥🔥🔥

And my fear is that PlayStation will meet them in the middle by not having to spend so much on hardware.

We were at the point of diminishing returns graphically. Hardware was getting a bit stagnant and home consoles looked like they would never rival their PC counterparts in terms of raw power like they did at the launch of the the 360 and PS3 . Then Cerny and Sony decided to flip the script and identify and fix the problems holding the industry back. Now we have a “god tier“ (Sweeney’s words) IO and SSD solution that crushes anything commercially available. Did they need the competition from Microsoft to get there? Tough to tell...Sony definitely learned from the early mistakes of the PS3, but without competition they might not have had to change direction.

The cell tech was and still a very ballsy move, if it was successful it could've shaped gaming and PC as well. Well, you know the story but it's still a very powerful machine and ahead of its time. Problem is complexity. This time around they're pushing for innovation but without stepping into complexity, but the other way this time they're making it pretty easy for developers and opening new boundaries in gaming.

Is it just me or have load times and fast travel been exponentially more painful since the announcement of the PS5? I know how much more the I/O and streaming solution does than simply eliminate load times, but lately all I can think about when playing a game that goes into a loading sequence is “I will be so glad when this @&#* is over!”

It was annoying the last 20 years, but knowing that it will soon be a thing of the past makes it nearly intolerable.

Not to derail your enthusiasm but aren’t those screen shots from the PS4 pro? All the trailers I looked at including screenshots say taken from PS4 pro. Still impressive though.

I loved the Cell! I was so excited about the tech I would read the IBM tech docs.

They already have Cross Buy. It's up to developers, just like it's up to developers for "Smart Delivery".

But don't let bias "journalists" that carry water for one brand, provide you with all the facts. It impacts their message and concern spread.

Maybe many know that I don't care about BC, but what are we missing in this gen? Didn't we enjoy it to the max with all the sharp corners devs had to take? And PS3 and beyond, what's there to enjoy more than PS4 games?

Nostalgia works for few seconds for me, I didn't even buy Streets of Rage 4 although I've beaten the series billions of times when I was a kid and have so much memories with it. You know why? Because it's a glorified remastered game.

It also puts Lockhart in a VERY odd position of devs are targeting lower than 4k....

What will Lockhart run UE5 at? 720p?
This is a really good point.

But if we listen the last Broken Silicon podcast, Tom says that the reason why they targeted 1440@30fps is because the footage video was to be shown on YouTube, so there was not point to go further.

That could be a possibility too.

I think it can easily run at native 4K as it's already pushing 4.7 polygons per pixel per frame (20 million polygons per frame). It can still be 2.35 polygons per pixel per frame at native 4K. We should see something more interesting in a few days anyway.

just putting this out there before the console gets revealed.

Can you see the 2 blue lines, an effort was made to highlight them in the teaser and they have a distinct look about them. I think we’ll see very similar lit line sort of design on the actual console itself, more specifically on the V shape cooling system. Just my guess.

Similar to the blue line on the PS4 but V-shaped.

I can definitely see something like that in the retail console.

I will go even further and state that the line won't always be blue. For example when you are downloading something and put it into sleep mode the line will change color to let you know that the download has been completed.

I didn’t give that any thought but yeah that makes total sense, would so cool if true!

Imagine being mad at business partnerships.
Fasten your belts, I guess.

Oh and man, if Sega unveils a new console...

Sega releasing another console? 😅 You'll be waiting quite along time still.. They took a proper kicking with the dreamcast.. I'd like to see them back in the hardware game tho.

You can't have both, man...
You can...

Let’s forget Xbox and PlayStation for a while.
Think about a game that will take heavy use of the SSD in next-gen console and try to imagine how it could run on HDD.

Unless you don’t take advantage of the SSD (make a game to run well on HDD) you will end having a game that is basically unplayable on HDD.

That is a simple example that show why you don’t want to have the same game on both this gen and next-gen consoles.

BTW my exemple exists and it is called Star Citizen... it is near unplayable on HDD.

Lol I get why you may not like it, it’s very different from what we’ve seen before but I think it’ll be a nice change from the usual black boxes Sony sticks with. Here are some renders based off the devkit and controllers. I think they look really cool!

Yeap but I don’t think PlayStation ever suffered with that install base issue at launch.
Well Nintendo did with Wii U but definitely not with Wii or Switch.
That install base issue seems more a Xbox thing.

I don’t believe Knack or Killzone Shadow Fall could sell more if launched in a big install base.

Knack has sold well because of the narrow selection at the very beginning, I can see the same happening for other top tier games. Personally, can't wait for Knack 3 on PS5! Variety is healthy.

I think you misunderstood my post, I was talking about that Tweet. You can't have true next gen games that can harness the new machine potential and at the same time being spread across PC and old hardware. You can scale resolution/fps, but not game design and storage speed.
