Animal crossing will take it I think.

Last of us will sell well but the leak probably didn't help things and the corona virus certainly helped animal crossing.

Animal crossing, it has a broader audience and suits the times.... kids are stuck in doors and it's a bright and uplifting social game.

TLOU2 will be the better, more groundbreaking game, even if I dont agree with some of the politics. It will still sell very very well but the violent grim future is tough to take for some people.

in 6 weeks animal crossing new horizons has sold-through number at 13.41 millions in US/EU/JP and probably around 15 millions WW. I think currently animal crossing is around ~17 million units sold and will surpass 20 million mark sooner than we originally thought.

Pretty sure it will be Animal Crossing. You have kids and parents playing that non-stop.

The Last of Us is way to violent for some daddies and children.

AC is a beast, but don't underestimate TLOU. Both versions combined have sold over 20m and pre-orders are tracking higher than Spider-Man which is about on par with AC.

Ghost of Tsushima will sell lower than 1-2 switch

That's absurd. I'll take that bet for any amount of money.

Since when Spider-man preorder number was the same as ACNH? and TLOU2 pre-order number for Europe is above spiderman but lower than spiderman in the rest of the world.

Animal Crossing sold 13 million copies in 2 months .. TLOU2 will not even sell half of that number in 2 months ..
Not 2 months but 6 weeks worth of sales (sold-through number not shipment number) in US/EU/JP which not the whole world and probably around ~15 millions in just 2 weeks.

Sad truth is Animal Crossing despite it being an incredibly beautiful but dull and mundane game. Can't win 'em all. 🤷‍♂️

One might describe TLOU2 as the same thing but I'll wait until it's out.

I have had like 20 conversations about Animal Crossing so far now. I haven’t even heard anybody talk about TLoU part 2

But I did once see a friend try to pre-order it like five months before it came out though...so it’s definitely a big time favorite among gamers

How is it btw?

TLOU1 did do 20m across both consoles so it's possible for TLOU2 to surpass it. It all depends on how well this game is received and sells initially, and how well it does on PS5 next gen. A lot of variables are at play, including the strength of software for the PS5's launch window. The more choice for that dollar, the lesser the chance it's going for a TLOU2 sale.

As it stands you can't bet against Animal crossing.

Difficult to compare. It will depend on what Sony has to offer at the start of the PS5. If i remember correctly TLOU only sold like 8 million copies on the PS3 with a user base of over 80 million.
When the remaster came to PS4 there was not much competition for it. Only Knack, Killzone and i think Infamous. It took the PS4 till 2016 for the first big hit.
If PS5 delivers big games faster, people won't buy "older" games like crazy. Also PS4 had many new gamers that missed out the PS3 thanks to the mistakes by Microsoft and Nintendo, i don't see that many new customers next gen.

Sorry, I meant total sales of both SM and ACNH, they're quite close. And true, just Europe, it's a huge chunk of sales though. I honestly think it'll be closer than anyone expects.

With all the fiasco about TLOU 2 and all, it’ll still sell very well rhyme intended but it might be tough for it to outsell AC at this point

Is Animal Crossing going to beat 20 million? Genuine question as I have no idea, but I imagine that's the ballpark for TLOU pt2 which will be expected to beat Uncharted 4's 16 million

Also, what is actually the deal with Animal Crossing. I've not played it but it looks really really shit, what's even the target market for it?

It was Kids and a few adults who follow the series but now, well, anyone in lock down who wants any kind of scoial life and a distraction from being in their home all day, and that's a lot of people.

Animal Crossing has the edge with all the kiddies stuck at home (not to mention a sizable lead too). LOU2 will win out in the years to come though.

It’s very definition of game for casuals, like I don’t know, Candy Crush or some other popular mobile game. It has that colorful look, cute animals and simplistic, pick up and play gameplay. And of course, hordes of people that buy Nintendo games unconditionally because they’re Nintendo.

Thanks.

I've got a Switch and I enjoy many of their games, but Animal Crossing is just not on my radar, not even close.

Family friendly stuff always sells more. Animal Crossing is the video game equivalent to Frozen or a Disney Movie. TLOU is much more violent and grisly. TLOU 2 will sell gangbusters but it can't beat a family friendly game. The only M rated game that goes into that territory is GTA V.
