PS4 is an adult system and TLOU2 will no doubt be the best selling PS exclusive but a family friendly switch game especially in a time when many kids are confined to the house is going to be a monster in sales.

That's too simple. Many kids own a Ps4 and many adults own a Switch, because it's perfect when the Tv is blocked by wife/kids or for their way to work. And i really doubt that TLOU2 can beat Uncharted 4 in sales.

I think it will beat Uncharted 4. This series has a huge fanbase that was looking forward to this game for years. It's similar to how RDR2 sold more in one week than part 1 did in eight years.

That is ridiculous, are there avatar bets here cause I'ld love to take one on this prediction. first the witcher 3 hasn't sold over 50 million copies, the series has, by the time the witcher 3 came out 1 and 2 were already at 10 million copies and given the sales breakdown the witcher 3 is at 26-33 million copies and the witcher 3 includes millions of sales from countries where game consoles are much much rarer that the last of us will never sell well in. Second the last of us has taken years to reach 10 million on ps4, uncharted 4 took 4 years to reach 16 million, you really think it is going to sell 3 times+ as well as uncharted 4?. The only way the last of us 2 will ever reach anywhere near the witcher 3's 40 million is if they released it only PC where it can enjoy being resold forever all over the world at some really low prices. So unless you are thinking it will reach 50 million+ after the ps6 last of us ultimate collection in 2030 or something that prediction is just silly.

Animal Crossing is like the Wii - it's selling millions to people who don't even normally play games. It's the biggest factor in Switch consoles being impossible to find. The AC Special Edition is $750.

animal crossing is already at 15 million or more, it would have to double the sales rate of spider-man, a t rated game that is both excellent and based on spiderman to just catch up with animal crossing. Do you really think that is reasonable?
Review scores, yeah probably naughty dog's games tend to score 93+ so it will top AC 91 with the only outside chance being people disappointed in a lack of multiplayer, which I admit is very unlikely

TLOU2 will be heavily discounted in its lifetime, whereas Animal Crossing won't be. Also, TLOU2 might be remastered in the future, while Animal Crossing won't be. Those are the only reasons TLOU2 is even in the conversation. At the end of the day, Animal Crossing has a much wider appeal and most people are going to recognize it as the better game. TLOU2 might reach 20 million with enough price cuts and a re-release, but Animal Crossing will reach that level without breaking a sweat.

Totally true, but the attach rate on AC is already practically double what SM is - there are about twice as many PS4s in the wild without SM that are potential sales, obviously, since the box has had so much longer to sell.

This isn't about what sold better in what time frame, 6 weeks is more than enough time to see the bulk of AC sales and SM can keep going too, and AC will absolutely outsell SM at the end of the day. The point is simply that the figures are very similar and it may be a helpful indication, in conjunction with TLOU1 sales, on roughly how well it's going to do. I think you'll be surprised at just how many that thing sells. We're still in somewhat of a lockdown and we've had no big releases for a long time now.

That 1.5 year is false if you are going to do a comparison atleast do it right.
13.2 million Figure is from last July 28,2019. That’s only 10 months SMH .
The numbers for Spider-man could be closer than 20M. Gamstat shows 26M Players or users for it.

Although animal crossing might outsell Spider-man in the following months and that’s well deserved. Animal Crossing is a great game.

Yes, some games sell more later.. what's your point? You've just shown that Smash is an example of a game thay made the bulk of its sales in the initial period, other titles like Zelda were available at console launch and were always going to sell more over time. AC came out at a time where there was a Nintendo drought, 50+ million people owned a device, and there was a worldwide epidemic. Until we get more data on AC specifically it's very reasonable to imagine it's already made most of its sales

But that really isn't the point, you keep tunnel visioning on specific parts of what I'm saying as if I'm attacking Nintendo in some way, it's weird

Part 1 sold ridiculous amounts of copies but was a reasonably slow burner at the beginning and built up a fan base via years of acclaim and an early PS4 remaster which is how three quarters of people played it. It’s often on sale for very low prices on psn and amazon whereas Nintendo games are never cheap. Nobody will still be buying this release of animal crossing in 10 years but people will still be buying Part II on their PS6.

Now THAT is a good conversation. Paper Mario has always been a decent but not unreal seller, like the Infamous series. That's what a close race looks like. Animal Crossing is not on that level. Animal Crossing is going to outsell TLOU2 and GOT combined.
