I know what's making me hate the design of the PS5. It's the damn blu-ray drive. The digital version looks much, much better. That drive sticks out like a sore thumb. :/

It's still a huge videogame though what the hell. Taller than the PS3 and almost the same thickness. That's freaking insane. It probably has a huge fan inside, something like the OG XBO. Maybe bigger. Who knows
I like both tbh but I’ll admit is looks so...overdesigned :/

Whatever makes it quieter than so be it

The PS5 looks good, better then the Xbox Series X. I'll be honest though, both the PS4 and XONE looks better. I want to get a PS5 but I have so many games I haven't played yet on the PS4, so I think I'm going to wait with going next gen.

In terms of design, Microsoft remains true to itself - there is simply no design. And so the XSeX is not ugly, it is a neuter. So even the PS5 can look better, even if I don't think it's that pretty.

Was I the only one who was somehow disappointed how Godfall turned out?
I excepted something else, but the trailer gave a completely different feedback now. And the music in the trailer did not help much to make it better...

I am still quite looking forward to it. Agree the music didn't help at all. It's not likely going to win awards but looks fun.

The only thing that make me disappointed from ps5 event is that they don't show actual demon souls and horizon 2 gameplay and I don't know if they gonna show them in August event or not,😞

The weird thing here is that the XSX is actually higher than the PS4 Pro is wide, but here it looks smaller. Sony should just release the actual dimensions

A bit late, but I'd like to make my highlights on the event:

- I give it a 7/10, definitely better than that Inside Xbox, but could have been much better had it more gameplay;

- Too many indies, maybe it would have been better to make a separate presentation for most of them. They are important, small devs will benefit from PS5's easyness to develop for, but a reveal event is all about fanfare with big games;

- I wanted more games that could better show what PS5 SSD can do, Ratchet & Clank's fast transitions are unbelievable, but I wanted more;

- Diversity of games shown was great, streaming quality was poor(thank God we can watch those videos in 4k now).

Can hardly wait for August, hope for more gameplay. I have this theory they didn't want to spoil TLOU2 and GoT experiences before their releases, so they dialed down on that.

Go Go Neo Rangers!
I fail to remember any placeholder that came out true in the end, really wonder why people still care about them.

Placeholders are usually way higher to encourage people to not buy them as they don't want to take orders on items they don't have.

Like how retail usually prices floor models are ridiculous prices so they aren't accidentally sold.

Edit: meant to tag the post you replied to.

There were a lot of great games I saw, most I'd like to play, but nothing was leagues better graphically than what Microsoft has shown in regards to first party. I think Ratchet was interesting and shows the potential of the SSD, but The Medium was similar in that regard. Clearly Ratchet was far more involved with multiple different environments appearing out of thin air. That was pretty cool. Regardless I look forward to both consoles, but that PS5 looks BIG, and also alien in nature. Which is both a bad and good as it will have monstrous cooling, but I would prefer my console blend into my room with a little more class as I'm in my mid-30's.

Did microsoft actually show any gameplay?

Holy shit I managed to avoid any "spoilers" and the design during my workday, almost 17 hours after the reveal!!

I watched the event after I got home and...

I think I like the console and it's futuristic design. You can always hide the console anyway. But still the main thing for me is that how quiet it is.

I really like how colourful and unique looking games were shown! So good to see Sony is showing more than just AAA games.

Ratchet and Clank, Horizon 2, REVIII, Demon's Souls and Housemarque's Returnal were the highlights for me.

Wow. I'm completely blown away. THAT is how you introduce the next generation. I think I was right about rendering those fancy transitions being quite taxing to do at home in 4k :messenger_winking: They looked gorgeous.

There were certainly some odd indy titles that had me scratching my head, but I'm not going to lie, most looked fun. Even BugSnax lol. I know my wife and son will be all over it in addition to Ratchet, Sackboy, Stray, Jett, and Kena . My wife is a huge zelda fan (as am I) and we thought Kena felt very Zelda/Pikmin inspired but it just looked incredible. The line between pre-rendered CG and gameplay has all but vanished.

Ratchet especially was flexing that I/O muscle hard. After the UE5 demo my head immediately imagined portal type teleportation, time manipulation and instant and drastic changes to the world being possible. There really are no limitations restricting design anymore.

Horizon, Spiderman, and Demon's Souls all look insane. I haven't played a racing game in a generation or two but GT7 gave me the itch.

So many other's caught my eye as well such as Athia, Deathloop, Returnal, Ghostwire, and Pragmata. I will need to see more gameplay but I'll be keeping tabs on these.

RE:Village very much looks cross-gen in comparison to most of the other's shown but I'm still intrigued. The world design still had the infamous windy corridors and material design was lacking although some of the characters looked great. I think the last RE game I played was on Gamecube but this got my attention although I'll wait for reviews.

As for the console design, I'm of two minds. On one hand what a console looks like has never been a factor in my purchasing decision. On the other hand I would rather it disappear into the background and not distract from my TV. I actually like the space age design and color scheme but I'm not sure where to put it.

I'm about to wall mount the OLED in my man cave to keep it away from the 8 month old and I was planning on building a shelf a foot or so below the TV to house all my devices but I like how the PS5 looks standing upright more than horizontal. It would be too low to the floor if I have it vertical below the TV. Hmmm I might do something funky and have it on the adjacent wall and do some funky wire/paint work with the HDMI and power cables. Time to scroll instagram for some inspiration.

What variety, when was the last time we got a tactical pvp shooter with no respawns? Sony didn't even show a single multiplayer game.... WTF are you talking about?

GT7 - Racer - MP
HZD2 - Third person action adventure
Spiderman - Third person action adventure
R&C - 3D Platformer
Demon's Souls - Soulslike - MP
Sackboy - 3D Platformer - MP
Returnal - FPS
Destruction All Stars - Arena Car Battler - MP
Astrobot - Dual Sense demo

That's just PS Studios announced yesterday. 4 MP games, lots of variety in genres.

I realize Spiderman is more like DLC but still, it’s a great next gen showcase and the 4k trailer made me appreciate it a lot more.

I’m now curious is Insomiac isn’t working on a true Spiderman 2 at this point
My theory is Spiderman: Miles Morales is a 'Uncharted: Lost Legacy' exclusive for PS5. They will amp resolution/fps and improve his speed thanks to the SSD, but consider it 'Marvel's Spiderman 1.5'. As soon development is finished, they'll move to the real sequel, just like ND with TLOU remastered.
