Well, If I remember correctly God of war ascension had a multiplayer access code. If you buy it second hand and the code was used you couldn't play online.

I mean, somehow they would expect a next gen console to play last gen games (which hasn't happen almost ever before), but somehow would miss the whole reason they are paying for the cheaper SKU is that it doesn't have an optical drive. Sorry, but I'm not buying that reasoning at all.
I've been buying digital only for years now under the expectation my library would carry forward much more seamlessly, I guess I'm good now

The bottom is larger than the top on the original, the fake one is a rectangle.

The thread was never closed in ERA.I'm not sure if it is fake. I would err toward it being a real/genuine picture of some sort. Before the thread was closed on era there were suggestions the guy holding the PS5 is Tetsu Sumii but I don't think it looks like him. (white T-Shirt)
I will say something felt off about how the whole picture came to be posted and how it was discussed...Can't put my finger on why, though?

If they know that games can be upgraded, they will know it's not possible on DE. I just don't see how this could be done technically. If you want to go digital, do it fully.

He does a great job of breaking down why the SSD's are so important and where the PS5 has an advantage in that area and how it relates to the available memory.
When you actually realize how it all works, you have to admit that they really invested in an area that will give a far longer term advantage to PS5 than a mere 1 or 2 tflop GPU boost.
Now games will be able to be built from the ground up for this specific speed of SSD and in 2 or 3 years, a mid-gen refresh will push the Tflops and CPU clock up to increase raytracing and fps performance etc.

Looking at both boxes it looks like Sony really tried to give us something pleasing to look at while avoiding potential heating issues, Microsoft only cared about the cooling solution and didn't care about the design at all "put it all in a box and poke some holes on top, XB logo and done!".

While talking about it, I don't understand anything about the hate on TLOU2, I think all the story decisions TLOU2 made makes 100% sense. Sorry if someone disagree. Maybe playing as a female is not my cup of tea, but at least they didn't make her wear only a thong like in Nier or overly sexualized like many other games that are "worshiped" by gamers.
I don't feel any forced agendas so far, being pretty deep into the game already, not sure how far from the ending.

One of the verified posters was intimating the picture was an official internal release. Didn't really elaborate further though.
I doubt that. If it is real then it would most likely be one of the first consumer PS5's off the line. Hence the picture.
The architecture deep dive thread where I was posting about the picture came to an end and was locked (20,000 post limit).

In my personal opinion it's fake. First, the "tablet" or thing on their hands it's flat, and if it was the PS5 would even cast some shadow from top right angle to left bottom angle, and there is none. The PS logo position is weird. The SONY logo and jackets on the workers are in different positions/badly oriented. finally Both the PS and SONY logos have a white outline that shouldn't be there. Best quality i could find was like 700x525 which might be done in purpose to avoid zoom and detect the changes. Its fairly well done i think, for a fake

And what’d they use to make the image quality so shit when you zoom in? I mean it’s obviously a bit better than a potato camera but my very old iPhone 5s took better pictures than this.

I do think it is likely real but I'm more interested in how the picture came to be posted on Discord and what the nature of the internal release (if that's what it is) was.
Also those suggesting it was the head of hardware engineering (no name given) or the art director (Sumii) who it looks nothing like. This is the weird thing for me, not the picture itself.

Alot of the hate i would imagine come from silly Trolls, I have seen some crazy scores from people in regards to reviews like zeros, ones and two's. You know straight away these are bullshit.
I played the first one, i did not consider it a masterpiece like many people do but it was still a damn good game, at least an 8/10 imo.
Some people are annoyed that Elle is a lesbian which is pathetic, at the end of the day its their game, their vision.
Some people are annoyed that Neil Druckmann has a personal agenda, i remember watching a Robin gaming video about it, it was interesting to say the least.
I love writing short stories, and would hate to have to change my vision of something because some one is offended by what they do not like.
I am really glad your enjoying the game, really want to hear some feedback when your done.

Man I could swear none of you who say "sustained" even know how consoles or computers work. You just use it for the sake of arguing with no clue how it all works.
Do you know what theoretical means? Do you know what theoretical Teraflops means? Do you know those Teraflops numbers you see are a theoretical maximum? Do you know how they're reached and how they're achieved? Do you know what bottlenecks means? Do you know what efficiency is and how that relates to gfx cards? Do you know how power works? Do you know how gfx and CPU cards work? Do you think your 100 Teragigaflippityflops card stays at its maximum 100% of the time? Have you monitored or seen a video monitoring those cards before? Have you seen the numbers fluctuate? Then you have the software layer etc. You think games that don't require 12tf will still use it all?
Ok, now if you understand and have answers to all these questions, then now you've graduated and are more informed on how these things work.
Think Nvidia's lower TF vs AMD's higher TF cards and why Nvidia's still performed better. Why AMD made RDNA.
There's a lot more to it than just a Teraflop number. We've seen Cerny tell us how theirs work, but we don't know how SX works. If SX customized theirs enough to easily achieve 12tf, then kudos to them, but no way their console will be stuck at 12tf the whole time. That is just silly and not efficient.

You will have to buy disc version of game for PS4 if you are purchasing the PS5 console with UHD drive. If you buy digital version of the game it will upgrade on either PS5 version.
This wont be too big of a problem. Ill still have a PRO hooked up on a different TV for a while. Ive bought half digi and half disc. I know either way its not going to be a problem on my end.

It isn't irrelevant. It allows the ability to get 5-15% more compression when using BC7 textures. The downside, like you pointed out, is that the GPU needs to decode it.
I don't think they would be wasting their time working on the decode shaders if they expected nobody to use it.

I’m only going by what the people that made it were divulging on Twitter. It was the oldest part of the project and a fall back if the RDO encoding didn’t perform well enough, which it did.
The BC7Prep tool and pathway has a use, but it’s unlikely to be selected over Oodle Texture created BC7 textures getting decompressed natively on the Kraken decompressor.

I need something new from Xbox and Sony, I love the SSD approach with Sony because is something at least different, these are machines that will last 6-7 years, I need to hear that for this past 7 years they weren't just waiting to AMD finish their new architecture. I know they both did some customizations for their RDNA2 silicones, but yet... I really wish there is more to come.

I would love to play game that you can destroy all scenario.
But I don't think PS5 has that (Hardware Accelerate Physics) because if the console had it, Cerny probably would have talked, in The Road to PS5. Our only hope is Matt who says we have a lot that we don't know.
But if I am not wrong, Physics is handled by CPU and PS5 have a super CPU compared to PS4 Jaguar, Zen 2 Cores is powerful enough to handle all kind of Physics I think. The UE5 has Chaos Physics system and is treated as a NextGen technology so I think we don't need to worry so much about this.

Here's why I won't buy Xbox? Games like recore, Crackdown is trash, halo and gears are stale and generic and even though ppl think Hellblade is a godsend first one was 81 meta which is good but tht was very restrictive and repetitive. Not top tier at all.
