Far Cry 6 is running 4k on One X & Series X, No Information on other consoles at this time

Yup.

Mid gen refresh. Medium settings
X = 4k
Pro = 1440p or 1800p CB

New gen. Higher settings
SeX = 4k
PS5 = 1440p or 1800p CB

This makes zero sense to me. Native 1440p on ps5 and 4k on XSX?

1600-1800p for a couple of seconds under very demanding scenes is way more realistic if its native 4k on XSX
Dynamic resolution is a thing. They'll do that over checkerboard.

makes sense. PS5 is the weaker console so will struggle to hit 4K in games. it's the same situation as the Pro/X. If a game can do 4K on Xbox then PS will only manage 1440/1800p and will upscale to 2160p.

not only resolution but with a slower CPU it will likely see lower framerates too. if Xbox can maintain a solid 30/60fps then PS will see drops below that.

"BUT BUT XBOX ONE IS GOING TO HOLD XBOX SERIES X BACK"
If a cross gen game is running identically on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X like the tweet says then surely Xbox Series X is not being pushed to its capability. No?
Hey there! As stated on the banner, Far Cry 6 is 4K Ultra HD on Xbox One and Xbox Series X only. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

You have to be really be trying to be obtuse to not understand them saying current gen version with current gen assets will have a resolution on one x which has been the norm. And next gen version with next gen assets will have a resolution advantage on series x.
So Sony have already lost the 4K war basically because a cross-gen (next-gen assets be damned) game isn't able run at 4K on their €500 machine. Gotcha.

Guess everyone and their mum won't be buy a PS5 any time soon then if this is going to be norm. All hail our new next-gen overlords: Microsoft!

I fully expect third party games to run or look better on Series X than Ps5.

But come on, when such a statement includes the Xbox One X you know it's just some intentionally confusing marketing wording
I think it probably is a mistake, and the game will be 4k on PS5, but the OneX version being 4k doesnt really mean anything. The OneX version is probably the current gen version at 4k, while the 'next gen' version may be a much better version using ray tracing etc, and the XSX may be the only next gen console able to run THAT version at 4k.
Again i think the PS5 version probably will be 4k by the time it releases, but we dont know how much better any next gen vesion will be.

It's not identically. The One X could be running at 30fps with graphics set on medium-low at 4K. The Series X could be running at 60fps with graphics set on Ultra-High at 4K. We don't know.

Well that doesn't make any sense. Why would a cross-gen game like FC6 not be running at 4k on PS5, but runs at 4k on Xbox One?
Weird, I thought the SSD would have solved this issue. I'd expect an entire generation of this.

I think they want parity of graphics features with respect to the generation. That's not completely unheard of. I can see the logic in that.

Hit the nail on the head here.

I'm sorry but I call bullshit. This is either a clueless CS rep, a moneyhat, or a matter of nomenclature. No fucking way the PS5 won't do 4k in a crossgen game and the One X does.

Obviously this someone doesn't know what he is talking about.
Xbox One does not have power to run anything at 4k.

Probably some hired PR guy who thinks 4k is TV sticker.

I still have no clue what they mean. That tweet didn't clarify anything, only make things more confusing.

So they're saying that on the Xbox One (current-gen) it will run at 4K as well as the Series X (next-gen) version but somehow the PS5 version wont? How does that make any sense? Can platformholders now buy resolution rights? What utter nonsense is this now? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Imagine a world where typos are a thing.

But thats stupid it already says 4K then ultra HD, makes it seem like its 4K+ or some stupid shit.
Dear fuckn god the mental gymnastics with buzz words, just say 4K you twats
Even movies/TVs use 4KUHD when describing the movies features (HDR, Dolby etc) so it's nothing new. Consoles are new to the party.

You really can’t think the assets are identical that’s just ridiculous oversimplification.
Sure i can, its a cross gen game. The assets are going to be identical. If they are able to push resolution on a regular Xbox One to 4K then surely Xbox Series X should be able to push closer to 8K.
It's not identically. The One X could be running at 30fps with graphics set on medium-low at 4K. The Series X could be running at 60fps with graphics set on Ultra-High at 4K. We don't know.
Where does it say it is different? It say it would be 4K on current gen Xbox One and next gen Xbox Series X. It is not a very taxing game if it is running at 4K on Xbox One.

this is why i'm ditching PS and going Xbox. i want the best performance (and yes i have a PC before anyone tells me to get one)

Well it will be the only way to play at 4K if you interpret the information as you are doing. PC won't support 4K either ...

Why are people upset? We knew PS5 was the "or" console this gen. You can have 4K or 60 fps but not both.

That's PS5s boost mode in action. Either the CPU or GPU can run at full power but not both.

You can have both 4K and 60FPs. It's up to developers to make that happen.

The consoles are just too close this time imo. It just seems like every XSX advantage will be lost in translation and we'll need zoom lenses and special equipment to even notice it. Dynamic resolution is already extremely advanced as it is.

4k on One X and Series X but not PS5 tells me that the game runs at 30fps on current gen and at 60fps on next gen.
that could be why on One X it will run at 4K (like Far Cry 5 already did)
on PS5 it will run with higher settings and a lower resolution but maybe at 60fps. and on Series X, due to the better GPU, it runs at 4k60.

that's my takeaway from this.

Extremely tough to believe that One X can run 4k and PS5 can't. I feel rather confident that there is a behind the scenes deal if this ends up being true. But honestly, couldn't care less even if true. Its a current gen game being released cross gen that I'm not exactly itching to play, and I only have 1080p tv anyway.

The game was already confirmed to be 4K 30fps on Xbox Series X.

It doesn't need to say it's different. Cross-gen games have always received graphical upgrades over their last gen counterparts. There is no reason to think it won't happen here. When the PR person said Xbox One, they probably meant the One X, which is able to run games in 4K.

People have been saying for months that the GPU is weaker in the PS5.
