I've had a bad past few days...yall cheering me up a bit...smh..you just don't know how much I needed it....thanks

Yeah heard you say something about it in the video. I think you were a bit formal this time around probably due to that, I hope you pass through that news and be happy enjoying what you love to do. I watch nearly all your videos but not the podcasts, I personally don't like podcasts in general, maybe it's good for people doing light exercises like walking and so to have it on and enjoy the chat.

A light adjusted pig is still a pig
Even Minecraft at low Res with full rt is still just prettier Minecraft. Goot luck getting rt anywhere near those levels.

Everything else is still lacking as kingthrash showed.

The problem I have with wait for rt, is in people's mind they probably expect the Minecraft upgrade at 4k 60fps. Once reality hits though...

Sorry to burst any bubbles but Slapping lighting on this will not make it look like horizon.

Lighting is one of the biggest factors in art in general.
Saying that a game won't be help by next gen lighting is like saying it wouldn't be helped like better textures, models, art and less pop in.

Making the game a different shade of green isn't gonna save it though, it need ray tracing AT LAUNCH.

Kingthrash Kingthrash giving us the good treat ;)

Kingthrash Kingthrash did a bang up job here. I didn't notice most of these things and he really put Digital Foundry to shame here. There is no way they can fix all of this by release. This is starting to remind me of Anthem. I was playing the beta and yeah it was fun, but there was problem after problem around every corner and they just kept reassuring us that it was an old build. Old build or not, when you're this unpolished you're gonna get an Anthem or Andromeda level of game in terms of overall quality. Sad thing is both of those games actually visually looked better than this as well.

Let's compare how Alex analyse in this two videos:

In the first one looks like he trying to justified something which is clear is not just the lighting,
when he use example of others games, usually he used for criticized the other games (mostly PS4).

But in this video with this games his examples are in order to tell you why the games of PS5 shows
an inferior feature compare with his examples.

only way RT could make a difference is if its on a separate 30fps "graphics" mode. Only in that case will they be able to go ham with RTGI and RT ambient occlusion. MS knows this and that's probably their plan, but they chose to show it like this to boast about "4K60"

They don't have to go RTGI, VXGI or something like UE5 could be doable at 60fps.
RTAO is cheap, RT shadows may be a dream though.

So in todays video which RedGamingTech released, he mentioned a number of times that MoorsLawisDead (Tom) contacted him via DM and was asking for some information about the PS5 customisations, the leak about PS5's Geometry Engine being used in RDNA 3 as well as the Ray-Tracing customisation which Tom mentioned in his latest video both came from RGT, I don't buy it if Tom said he heard it from multiple sources. He only ever mentions these leaks after RGT leaked them, which makes me suspicious about the information he passes off as "exclusive inside information which he has heard from multiple sources".

It's not just MooresLawisDead, both MBG and Foxy took to Twitter today saying how they've "heard" that PS5 has an "enhanced RDNA 2 GPU with features from RDNA 3", and this was straight after RGT released his video. I mean, my only issue with this is they make it out like they've got some sort of "inside sources", it was pretty obvious they took the information from RGT's videos. I've also seen information discussed in this thread pop up on places like Youtube comments on certain videos and on Twitter. I guess this thread is pretty popular lol

Btw this is not so much a defence of Paul cough*myslef*cough but I'm just pointing how dudes like MBG, Foxy and MoorsLawIsDead play it off like they have some sort of inside info on the PS5 when really they've just been recycling leaks from other people like RGT.

I have seen Digital Foundry's Alex Battaglia's video about Halo Infinite and why it looks "flat", the amount of damage control he is making is unbelievable.

I mean, what Alex is alluding to is that the lighting IS the ONLY problem & brings up TLOU 2’s rare lighting issues too But, Halo looks mid in every graphical aspect, while TLOU 2 looks the best, it’s not just lighting.

Digital Foundry's Alex Battaglia is like "Yeah it's just lighting, not the graphics themselves", lighting can ruin some of the scenes & game objects but not to this degree, because Halo Infinite's assets, textures, shading, models, details, geometry look mid.

Made this tweet to show him that he's wrong.

Yeah... but lighting isn't the only problem with Halo Infinite. It's all those other things you mentioned too.

Jesus fucking Christ...
We just need to wait to see the versions of Forza Horizon 4 and Gears 5 in XSX will looks much better than Halo Infinite, that will be ridiculous,
an enhancement version will looks better than a game done for XSX because even Unreal Engine 4 will scale in a better way than the
slipspace engine which was designed for XSX.

I would love to know the difference in budget between GoT on PS4 and Halo on the beastly 12 tf series x...

Not just budget but time and man hours in terms of staff as well to gain a better sense of who used that money and time more efficiently

Going by wiki 343i had 450 staff as of 2016 (I think they have had 800 I could be wrong)

Sucker Punch 200+ listed on wiki

Sounds like to me that Alex is using the lighting as a scapegoat. Halo Infinite has alot of issues besides the lighting. It's pretty funny how Alex doesn't focus on the other issues the game has.

I'm not saying that Digital Foundry is biased but Alex is certainly a problem. I don't understand why they have someone like that on the team. Richard and John are ok in my opinion.

It's clear from the visuals who used their time more effectively lol. The proof is in the "Craig", so to speak.

I wanted to be fair and not take an easy headshot but given Sucker Punch last release was back in 2014ish and 343 has had halo 5 and halo mcc to fix post release maybe they had small teams on both of those as well

I don't doubt that the XSX has some raw horsepower and it will be utilized. We know the potential is there.

But your flagship franchise NEEDS to be the one to showcase it, especially if you're making it the highlight of your show with a campaign reveal.

It wasn't just lighting. I've glanced at the DF video and that one guy is apt to throw his bias in at every turn. It drives me bonkers.

It's like when a worker will make up excuses on why their work is sub-par or incomplete, rather than be honest admit "I messed up. This isn't good enough."

I was thinking in another big open world which run in a "tablet" with steroids.

Halo looks like this because is very hard to have a big world where you can see to a huge distance

Meanwhile in The legend of Zelda breath of the wild

Also the trees looks better and can be affected by the fire

And has lighting system have day/night cycle

Is not 4k but looks like neither Halo, is not 60 fps but run in hardware comparable with console of 2006 and have better physics system. This is good art direction
and choose the correct technologies for your game.

I actually watched this tonight, it was a good video, with some good points.

A couple of things that struck me was when he was talking about the grappling hook in halo and he was showing an old halo game with the level design. Damn halo was pretty good back then, i think it was a 360 game maybe, sorry i don't know. But the levels had verticality and tonnes of it. The new game really does look bland vs that.

Another thing was the bit with the shield you throw down, i never gave it much thought but it really does look rubbish compared to the old games ones.

i can really understand why halo is treasured by some xbox fans. it must of been a marvel way back then.

I make all my videos on a ps4, im limiteddddd...lol but thanks, the facts will have to do for now

Not going to be funny but if you had some better quality control and rephrased some of your colourful language.
I think you could gain a heck of alot more subs.

What you found in that last video was excellent and i actually really liked the way you showed stuff in it.

Time to put on a hoodie and hit the streets, pick up that decent editing gear and you are on your way. :messenger_smiling_horns:

I'm going to boldly say this again even though my thread was locked & so on when I said it the last time, PS5 is basically in a generation alone. Xbox might show up to that generation but it wasn't the plan.

I get the feeling that MS really believed that polishing current gen games up & having PC ports on a powerful console would be enough to blur the line between current generation & next generation but it don't look like that is working out right now.

And I don't think this is just a case of Sony having better 1st party studios than Microsoft because if you pay attention you will notice that 3rd party devs seem to be happier about PS5. No one finds it strange that 3rd party devs are not jumping at the chance to show off their games on the most powerful console?

Or do y'all believe that Sony paid everyone not to show off the power of Xbox SX?

Sony is prepared for a new generation while Microsoft only planned to shine this one up & now they are scrambling to get up to speed & that's why they keep giving mixed messages.

Man thanks, it needed to be said....can't believe we are gaining all this power next gen but are losing the detail that was in past generations

Great video. You were pointing out all the little things that I recognized that blew my mind that someone like Alex from Digital Fucking Foundry was completely glossing over just to make some inane point about LIGHTING. In all honesty, the lighting is the least of Halo Infinite's worries.

Halo Infinite looked flat because the devs DON'T CARE. It's so obvious. There's no accomplishment in their work for the little details. It's just like they get to the office everyday thinking "ugh....guess we're going to have to create another level in Halo....Bob, add some grunts that come at you from this generic space outpost".

From the way you move, to the all the effects on weapons and grenades, to the animation routines. None of it looks like any care was put into it beyond "make it play like Halo from 2004".
