Anybody else here think PS5 and Xbox Series X exclusive launch titles underwhelming?

From what I’ve seen so far, it seems to me that the exclusive launch titles for both consoles are quite underwhelming. Am I missing something?

PS5:
- Deathloop (timed console exclusive), looks ok.
- Godfall (timed console exclusive), looks meh.
- Spider-Man Miles Morales, basically a Spider-Man DLC launched as PS5 standalone game.
(EDIT) - Kena: Bridge of Spirits (timed console exclusive), looks interesting.

Xbox Series X:
- Halo Infinite (console exclusive). Not going to say anything because it has been beaten enough.
- The Medium (timed console exclusive). Actually, looks interesting.
(EDIT) - Crossfire (timed console exclusive?)... not sure about this one, but it's Remedy.

If not for mutiplat games and backward compatibility, it would be a sad launch for the consoles…

Eh, launch games are usually pretty unremarkable.

I think you're being a bit harsh on the new Spiderman game though. While a smaller title, that can just mean it has less bloat and grinding. It's still more of one of the best and most popular games of this generation, from a team with a proven track record for delivering great games.

Frankly if Uncharted: Lost Legacy is anything to go by, it could well end up being an overall better experience thanks to better pacing and tighter focus.

Go Go Neo Rangers!
Are the medium and Death Loop confirmed launch games? I know they are "console launch exclusive" meaning they will debut on those machines but it would be news to me they are launching with the boxes.

But I made this point in another thread. This so far is looking like the weakest console launch since the N64.

If Deathloop comes close to Resogun glory(which I still play to this day, not to mention the game is the best HDR showcase on any system and it didn't even launch with HDR originally) that would make the launch worthwhile in of itself.

That said what's even been confirmed for either launch so far?

We don't even know what the official launch lineups are yet.

I assume ghat will come when they both announce pricing but for me personally it's not worth discussing until we know.

If Miles Morales is the Lost Legacy of Spider-Man, it won't just be glorified DLC. Lost Legacy was almost as long as some of the original Uncharted games and frankly it was better than 3.

Console launches rarely have hugely exciting lineups, and we're yet to see more confirmed. I think it'll be fine. Like someone else said, people are going to be playing Cyberpunk for months anyway.

I think most of the games showcased on both sides are nowhere near done with development. I could see some being canned even or simple just being started.

This. Spider-man Miles Morales has everything a new sequel would have and they also did a 4D scan of the guy that plays Miles to get a more realistic look

Halo 5 at launch because of multiplayer and hours of play, singleplayer games can wait.

The PS5 launch window is looking way better than the PS4's which was Killzone Shadow Fall and Knack

2020
Spider-man Miles Morales
Kena
Astro's Playroom
Deathloop
Godfall

Other potential launch titles
Lost Soul Aside
Quantum Error

2021
Horizon Forbidden West

Personally, I do not have any interest in buying both of them at launch.

Really the only thing that excites me is enhanced BC. I didn’t play a lot of games released this year because I want to play them on next gen consoles.

Isn't Kena a launch title? I think they said it's a 2020 game.

I agree, Kena is the most intriguing and visually polished title of the bunch available at launch.

The other one is the sci-fi one where you control the cat, but that's out also on current consoles if I'm not mistaken. Can't remember the name.

Resogun was a better game than anything coming at launch this fall

Not going anywhere near these consoles at launch I even cancelled my next gen GPU plans because I have no reason to upgrade my RTX 2060 Super

Kena looks interesting but only needs an FX processor and 650 this is the first gen where I just don't care at all

Doesn't Series X have ZERO exclusives on launch?

Halo Infinite will also be out on PC and Xbone, and I think Medium is also releasing on PC.
Well yeah but for someone who only plays on consoles it might as well be exclusive. For some reason both Sony and Xbox ignores PC as a competitor. For Xbox‘s case it makes a bit more sense if they’re planning on selling it at their store.

Almost all of the next-gen games will be playable on PC, so why do you even need those consoles for? I'm actually interested to see how well CoD does this year, it seems there will be no big/interesting game to play this holiday season to compete with it.

Nop, they had me at demon souls and spiderman.

On the xbox side, Stalker (if it ever releases) is what i'd be looking forward to, but then again, it will surely release on PC where its meant to be played.

They all look fun, I guess if you're looking for a killer app they aren't there but I sometimes feel like you need to be jaded to post here.

It's funny I think my most look forward to game at the moment would be Forza Horizon 4. 4K 60 plus little to no loading times will be pretty attractive for me. I barely played it so far so it'll be like a new game.

Launch games are traditionally underwhelming but there's been so much hype surrounding both consoles I was expecting a lot more than content that in a honesty doesn't look significantly better than the best of PS4 Pro and XBox One X (or whatever its called).

Also, Cyberpunk and Assassin's Creed Valhalla. There won't be a lack of stuff to play.

Hopefully, Ratchet and Clank will be right around the corner as well. That game looked close to ready to go.

I'm personally waiting until March 2021 to get my PS5. That should give ample time to get more games out and fix the inevitable launch teething issues.

I think I'll be playing Halo/Cyberpunk on Xbox and Kena on PS4.
I think we'll get some "new" launch titles around August/September.

No Next-Gen until 2021 for me

A 9 to 10 hour Spider-man is no joke, the IP is massive and can include a new game plus and can have DLC after....

A lot of the fun is just swinging around the city too. Hopefully they do replayable bossbattles this time.

Kena also looks incredible to me!

Death Loop should be fun, has a great style. Not a blockbuster but added to Cyberpunk and other games, it will keep me very busy.

I think miles morales has potential if they price it accordingly , 70$ is a lot for DLC.

But neither has officially announced their launch lineup I think? So perhaps it's a bit early to make this call.

The PS4 library is the biggest and most important launch lineup .
Ghost of Tsushima and my whole PS4 backlog are launch PS5 games. can't wait to play them on boost mood. and I'm sure a few will have dedicated upgrades like Spider-Man.

I actually want to play Halo so will be happy with Xbox. No launch games on PS5 ... Not that I plan on getting a PS5.

Outside Halo I'll be playing games like FIFA, Watch Dogs, Cyberpunk, Tony Hawks on the XSX. Flight Sim I imagine won't be too far off since it releases in a few weeks on PC. I'll have more than enough games to keep me busy.

My brother! Between Spider-man Miles Morales, Kena and Astro's Playroom I'm good at launch. Throw in Cyberpunk 2077 and I have my new favorite launch lineup

We don’t know what the launch games are on PS5 but if Miles, Kena, little Devil Inside, Returnal, Death Loop, and Cybepunk are there it’s going to be the busiest I’ve been on day 1 of a console launch.

I thought I was going back to Halo but after the shitshow the put out I’ll gladly wait for the next one.
