Does PS5 has some cool RT secret sauce and we just know it? (yet)
  • PS5 ray-tracing is done through the RDNA 2 method however Sony has made customisations which allow the ray-tracing to run at different frequencies (take this with a grain of salt)
ray-tracing light bounces scale better with higher frequencies on the other hand the number of rays being generated can scale better with more CU's.

there is literal zero biased from DF, its only that they are not "meme"'ing MS so they are shills lol

i think sony fans have just been burnt by DF cause xbox one x has been the better device in comparisons

i wasnt hearing this MS favouritism when xbox one and PS4 launched and PS4 was dominating every h2h

I heard there were articles on DF about resolution not being much relevant when we had bf4 being better on PS4.

Theres a whole historical of DF changing their own creteria over the time.

But anyway, I do think that the Alex Guy suddenly becomes Very minimalistic and start pointing things at 100x when It comes to Sony games.

PS: Id like to Bo and co to have an opinion on my nickname and PIC profile

I think for him is hard to believe but not Alex not because talk everyone has to be agree with you
specially those who has real experience working in games not like you, be game dev is not so
weird as you think.

I know is shocking, a game dev knows more than Alx and doesn't need Alex teach her/him.

He is right about one thing: that forum sucks.
He only miss, Era suck because no one can say I am wrong without fear of be banned.

I believe PS Now to be the best model for the industry. You get great 3rd party AAA games for a limited time and a huge amount of fodder, it caters to both quality and quantity. The fact the game has an explicit time window to be played is even better since it does not disrupt game sales (the subscriber know they can't have the game forever without buying).

There's definitely an opportunity here for Sony to curate it better and it be a nice service for those that missed PS4 games this generation. All things considered, both Game Pass and PS Now have their own value, and logically the Game Pass offer is more friendly to the player (but not so much to the big publishers).

Yup, for gaming sake, you need to have a balanced ratio between devs = players, favor one on another and you'll ruin it. Best thing is most of them if not all PS4 games are downloadable to be played natively on your PS4.

At this point I don't know if I really care about raytracing after having seen how good The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima looks :messenger_grinning_squinting:

If the Ps5 does have some juicy RT sauce it might make the hearts of a few Xbox individuals explode from despair 💀

Yeah honestly i don't think that much about it, RT, no RT, semi RT... ect, devs (the most talented ones at least) will know what will be good, what to do and how to use the power of the console.

Seeing as that is a Chinese factory taking A4 size as the paper seem wrong (it is a Western default), might need to take D4 which is the Chinese default printer paper size, so it is 188mmx260mm and hypotenuse would give 320.85mm. Can you take this into ratio account and make it?
I agree, but that doesn't align with the earlier calculations based on disk or USB size, right? Although D3 would be too large, so chances are indeed higher for D4.

For 3rd party GamePass is exactly the same... their games appear for a limited time.

I really like the video of @NXGamer and looks like he saw the videos of DF when he emphasizes the RT will not magical fix everything and will have an impact in resolution.
Really good video by him. DF obviously do good content but I can't help but think they are well to soft when it comes to MS. How Alex was having a dig at GT ray tracing because Forzas looked better, even though as NX gamer points out it's in engine and not even on a series X.

I don't see that as him being "triggered". If you actually read the comment he clearly states that he isn't sure to what extent (if any) RT implementation will have in alleviating the game's flatness. He saw a common criticism in the game looking flat (which it does) and decided to break down a range of lighting techniques at use in the industry and highlight how the demo did okay with those in some areas, and failed in others.

Personally I liked his, NXGamer's and Cherno's analysis of the demo and all three kind of focused on different things pertaining to it. I don't get the persecution complex some of you have against people like Alex on this thread or in general particularly for, in this case, not tearing the demo a new asshole. The general sentiment from their analysis is that the game could visually be better, and he wanted to focus that on the aspect of the lighting to distinguish what they're doing is different from static light sources but, of course, comes with its own complications.

And let's keep in mind they're on Era of all places; they certainly can be a damn crappy forum a lot of times even on video game-related topics. If people are taking statements in their video out-of-context or exaggerating them, he has the right to defend himself, just like any other content creator. I don't agree with him that the lighting was the largest factor for the game's tepid visuals in a lot of areas per-se (I think NXGamer's and Cherno's videos highlight those larger factors pretty well), but I don't think that invalidates anything Alex has mentioned regarding lighting, either.

The Gunk Dev on Xbox Exclusivity: ‘We Went with the Guys with the Most Powerful Hardware’

New IP, new heroes, a new development engine, and an extra dimension. We’ve had to keep this close to our chests for quite some time, and as always it’s a relief to announce to the world what we’re working on. We’re of course very excited.

A bit into the development process it became obvious that The Gunk would be very hardware-demanding. We’ve always managed to keep our games lean, but The Gunk is all bells and whistles about to explode spectacularly. We had to make a choice: either we quiet it down considerably, or we go talk to the guys with the most powerful hardware. We decided to go talk to the guys with the most powerful hardware.

😂🤣😂

Job well done. Now to his next rumor and the next. If only people use their brain before jumping on every rumor.

Cant blame people for wanting to be distracted, with the global situation going on and all.

But yeah, a grain of salt never hurt anyone (or has it? :messenger_ghost:)

Got to love those who feel persecuted because DF didn't bash a game they had no intention of ever playing enough. It is truly unreal the level of persecution psychosis that these folks have. From delusions of secret Xbox cabals to paid YouTube shills, these people belong in a mental hospital.

Elsewhere, the demo footage of Halo: Infinite, which is taking a more open-world approach than previous titles, also drew mixed reactions from fans. Twitter debates raged for hours after the presentation, with some feeling the art direction made the visuals look flat, while others felt the gameplay looked dated compared with contemporary shooters.

However, Booty says that developer 343 Industries has been closely guided by the Halo community during the game’s creation. “343 works with dedicated insider groups that are always giving them feedback,” he says. “They’re as plugged in as any team could be to feedback from core fans, from the esports community, and from people who have seen what they’ve done with the Halo: Master Chief collection. Games of the genre have evolved and moved forward. The art of game design is figuring out what feedback you’re going to incorporate, where to strike a balance, and I think they’re well plugged into a big community to do that.”...

Ummm... What?

Hope not. It looks like Life of Black Tiger in terms of quality. We don't want shovelware on PS5.

I'm pretty sure that was on the list as one of the "Console Launch Exclusives" and if so, that means it will likely come to PS5 as well. I don't think it compares to 'Life of Black Tiger' at all! It's just got that specific art style...struggling to recall some I know I've seen that are roughly similar to that....but I think we've seen similar styles in the past. I think it will be fine and for the type of gameplay it seems to offer, a lot of people will enjoy it.

It's made by a team of 4 who use assets off the unreal engine market. The game isnt going to look great imo

I think it looks pretty darn good from what I've see so far. That being said, as you noted it's a VERY small team using Unreal assets. So it's not likely to have the level of detail you'd get from Naughty Dog or one of the BIG developers. Looks more than good enough not to detract from the game itself though.
