OK, since we're talking too much about next-gen consoles, games and all that.

Let me introduce y'all to a challenge I have made using this amazing Next-gen looking Horizon Forbidden West picture running on a 10.3 TF with a way faster SSD than Xbox Series X, to freshen up this thread a bit.

Duh, that's strange - won't PS5 have full BC with PS4? Why the hell do they need to release two separate versions of the game? If there's something we don't know?

I think it's just their marketing deciding to show it as if the PS4 and PS5 were two different versions rather than just write *PS4 game will also play on PS5. There's also a disclaimer at the top that "*Artwork subject to change".

Hi Craig!

SlimySnake

Flashless at the Golden Globes

Phil has to go. he had 7 years to fix the xbox division and he has dropped the ball. I can think of a few reasons why Halo infinite looks so bad, but there is simply no excuse for this.

UK is a very strong market for the xbox too. Everyone from Phil to Aaron Greenberg and Matt Booty need to be replaced. 2-3 years without any next gen exclusives? what were they thinking?

Thank you for clarifying that my post was easily understandable ... which @X-Fighter didn't.
So I'm making it clearer. If a game also releases on PC then it's not an exclusive according to said poster.
Following that logic Xbox has no exclusives at all.
I also wanted to add that timed exclusives aren't exclusives like FFVIIR is not an exclusive according to your standards(we are not sure about an xbox version but the Pc version is rulling it as non exclusive)

Right chaps, we need to be clear on this exclusive business with some proper agreed definitions. So are we talking about exclusives, first party exclusives, second/third party exclusives, console exclusives, console launch exclusives, was announced for other platforms but is now inexplicably exclusive exclusives, console exclusives for now but might get a pc release if we feel like it, exclusive exclusives or so damn exclusive it's only launching for the Nokia n-gage?

You know...I can't believe I'm saying this, but I sure would like the Metal Gear Solid collection. My first MGS was the PS3 "Guns of the Patriots" (I forget if that was MGS 3 or 4) but I sure liked it. Playing a remastered version of that would be cool. Plus you get the camera "easter egg" with all the bosses! :) Anyway, I might actually go play the others to see what I missed since people talk so much about those games.
Guns of the patriots is 4. Peacewalker was 3.

Well I can understand that the term exclusive can be subjective in this industry, and it's really up to everyone, but what I wanted is for @X-Fighter to be consistent:
Either a game being on pc stops it from being exclusive in this case Xbox has 0
OR
being on PC doesn't stop the exclusivity perceived and then Godfall is a playstation exclusive.

But if someone says since it's on PC I don't count it for this console but will count it as exclusive for the other then that is clear bias or at least double standard.

So according to @X-Fighter perception of exclusivity Ps5 has some and XsX none.

That's not a way of thinking I share of course to me PC is separated in this discussion so I can absolutely admit that both Ps5 and XsX have exclusive that will also come on PC.

No bias just I personnal perception of exclusivity even if it paint Xbox in a way better light which is apparently enough to fix it like it fixes everything....
Alright jokes a part I am just consistent if constraint X applies to A it has to apply to B.

Serious question. With it being this late in the game and close to release (supposedly) of the consoles- I mean, it's almost August and we don't even have PRE-ORDERS up yet.... Is it more likely that there IS no Xbox Series S? Or is this a product they always were going to release, but NEXT year or something? I suppose they COULD announce it when they announce pricing like 'Ok so XSX is $499....BUT......you can also get the Series S for $299!!!" something like that? I'm just really puzzled that there seem to have been no real leaks or info on the mysterious "Lockhart" unit. Just making me question (more) what direction MS Marketing is taking.

I would agree. We have to go with CONSOLE exclusives. I've always hated the 'because it's on PC it's not an Xbox exclusive' argument. I mean, I GET it...but people in that segment of the market are more likely to play the game on console OR on PC. So I think we can all agree that coming to PC but not OTHER consoles makes a game a console exclusive. Common sense!

I totally agree though I would totally understand a more radical approach as long as it is consistent.

Man, RDR2 was the most overrated game of the generation, the user score explains that to me, most of the time you're running on a horse and need to press X continuously that nearly had 6-pack on may hand. The difficulty is insultingly easy, the whole story is pretty childish just like GTA5. Overall, it's a good game and it's 8/10 max. RDR1 was the complete opposite, a masterpiece back in the day.

And DF do provide quality stuff, but their bias towards xbox is pretty transparent and "understandable". But they should look at their subscription count, they don't need to sell their souls to the devil.

I’ve wanted to get into it twice because I know it must be good (and I actually loved GTA:V) but I just get bored of it and end up playing something else. It feels slow, the controls are janky, there’s bags of input lag on aiming, and the horse riding sucks.
I want my Ghost of Tsushima horse in all other horse games. That thing zips between tree with grace and sprints at the click of a button. You can also whistle him while sprinting away to your next direction and jump on him while on the move.

I’m so glad the Mongols invaded Tsushima more than once...

Ive always felt releasing it next year makes more sense. XSX will sell out this year anyway, and the XSS is more for casual players rather than the early adopters.

Not necessarily. Microsoft controls the game disc format that can be used on their hardware, and I still can’t find any official comment from Microsoft on if Series X next gen games will use 100 GB discs.

I guess it's possible, but it would be very odd. Obviously, with 360 the units only had a DVD drive, however both single and double-layer disks were supported and used. The PS2 supported both CDrom and DVD and PS2 games were released on both formats. By next year many games will start to appear that do not support X1, it would be pointless to put limits on the type of disks used there as long as they were supported by the devices the game was targeting.

Now, if MS decided to make all games download only, with disk just acting as a license, that would change the situation. At that point they could use DVDs since a very limited amount of data would exist on there.

3 was Snake Eater, Peacewalker came after 4.

Peacewalker was PSP or Vita only, right? I guess I played Guns of the Patriots and then Phantom Pain. Really liked them though...wild ass stories aside. Really I think Guns of the Patriots had the most charm although maybe that was my interest in that camera/boss easter eg. :)

I think microsoft wants to undercut sony or at worst price match them, so they won't be making any announcements right now.
the normal route of the water is that sony must do the hardware stripdown first,
before either of them proceed to opening pre-orders and announcing prices,
and series s announcement logically comes after all that jazz.

So you think it will be something (ideally for MS) where Sony announces the PS5 say at $499 and the digital at $399...then MS can announce the XSX for $499 but also say they have the Series S available for $299? Something like that. So in other words, use the Series S as the vehicle to undercut pretty much WHATEVER price Sony comes out with? I can see that strategy. Well, hopefully we'll all know the answers to all of this by end of October at least so we can pre-order for November! :)

I see a possibility ms could even undercut sony at the xsx-ps5 price war,
and offer on top series s as a 20 bucks per month all inclusive (console+gamepass) contract, if they are really serious to take back a portion of the market they lost

Yeah you’re right. Only reason to stick with 50 GB discs could just be cost. Maybe they’re cheaper to print. I think they want people to focus on Game Pass anyways, which doesn’t use discs obviously, so maybe they don’t care about discs as much.

Terrible idea to me, either you put some content on the disk to reduce download time to just some patches or scrap the disc and go digital only. It just feels like a scam.

This is the big question. If it is going to be announced in the next 2-3 weeks then it must surely be coming out day/date with XSX but on the other hand if it is then it must already be being made and in larger numbers than XSX if it is $299 or lower. Except not a single leak, controlled or otherwise.....of the box/case or from devs about the games and how that side works.

It is for sure the weirdest build-up to a console launch where we have no details about date/price/launch lineup ~13 weeks from launch.

Yep and if you think about it, isn't it weird we don't have any production line pics of XSX or PS5 either? Maybe Covid has let these companies SERIOUSLY lock down security.....or there are big issues waiting to be announced.
