Halo Infinite delayed to 2021, Series X still launching November

Jesus wept, these consoles have become a joke. This was the only thing I was looking forward to this year after it was confirmed no ratchet or horizon at launch.

What now? Patches for a higher res Cyberpunk and Valhalla? Seriously?

I've zero interest in a shitty looking not-spiderman DLC. But I've gotta sell my ps4 PRO soon while it retains some value.

How can both companies KNOW they're going for a 2020 release and not have absolute kiloton nuke software ready to drop? How do you fuck up that badly?

People should look at the PS5 launch lineup. I honestly still wonder if people have actually looked at it.

There's literally nothing there lol. Nothing for either console.

Looking forward to the Digital Foundry 2021 comparison where all of a sudden they notice the issues with the older 2020 showcase.
Finally Alex will notice the problems everyone else saw from the first time they saw the trailer. Anyway as long there are enough 3rd party titles releasing xbox should be fine.

Xbox Series X Launches this November with Thousands of Games Spanning Four Generations

It's ok. You can buy our new system play our old games instead. That's some interesting marketing.

But what does it matter if SX is released to run xbox one games?

did not see? xbox "fans" were more concerned with rumors of a multiplatform game running 1080p on PS5.

"No new Series X games? We have a solution for that. It's called Xbox 360 games."

I would prefer 2022 honestly. A year away looks far too soon. That demo looked like something on PS4 Pro Dreams made by a few 343i guys over the course of a few months.

That was the right decision. Hopefully its delayed till late 2021 to give the team time to restructure and restart.

Unless you are a shareholder (or a warrior) I don't understand the concern for the Series X launch. If you buy a console at launch it's because you like the specs or ecosystem. Typcally launch windows are terrible. In November/December everyone will be playing Cyberpunk 2077 anyway.

They did the right thing doing this.

Now Phil quietly gets rid of the last-gen version Halo infinite and just makes it exclusive to XsX and PC.

So you take your info from Inverse.com? They're hardly a well known or industry leading gaming website.? They know literally nothing more than the info Sony have put out and that everybody else has. They deal in speculation. You will know what the final launch line up is when PS announce it, as it probably hasn't even been finalised. Until then 🤫

I have a strange theory on whats going on over there at xbox, ive been pondering on this for a little while now and if they announce series s this all but confirms my crazy theory.

I really think series s was MS's planned entry into next gen as the flagship hardware, The plan was to be a upgrade over the xbox one x and beat sony in pricing, I think somewhere along the way they got tipped off about ps5 either thru a 3rd party or some other source and they paniced because they couldnt afford to be behind sony spec wise again, so they played there mid next gen refresh card early (series x). I'd imagine conversations were had where MS engineers assured the bosses that they could have the series X ready by launch. This would explain why we really havent seen any games running on the hardware and everything mostly built around the pc specs. It would also explain halo's current state because they have not had much dev time with the series x specs. they were building around the S.

I admitt it sounds super farfetched, but its something that crossed my mind, im not trying to dirty up the xbox it has enough problems as is and halo being delayed doesnt help, I do think it would be interesting if this were true though and were to come out down the line as news. It would explain alot at least in my mind as far as whats going on with there games, and how they choose to reveal them at there last couple of shows.

Again im just thinking out loud, either way im curious as to what they will do now that halo is officially delayed, 343 has been working on the game for years and although covid has impacted all devs, they should have been far enough along to overcome it. Alot of wasted time if you ask me, but a good decision non the less, they were more or less sending the game out to walk the plank sort to speak.

They should delay the console too.

Launch it with Halo Infinite, wait and see how Playstation will do... Prepare the launch according to the time and stuff...

With this title pushed back into "2021", is there a reason to actually purchase an Xbox Series console, either X or S, this year at all? In fact, is there a reason to pick up any console, from team blue or green, this year unless an existing one breaks? Right now I'm just hoping that there is something worth playing at the end of this year that warrants a GPU upgrade.

This delay, while desperately needed, is just flat out depressing and a good representation of this year as a whole.

It's a good decision to delay the game rather than try to release it in its current state at all costs.

And throw away 5 (?) years of development that has centered around making sure it can also release on the Xbox One?

Not a chance.

For the best.

BTW, after Halo Infinite releases... Fire Bonnie Ross... for complete and utter mismanagement, and fire Phil too for allowing that shit to go on doing nothing and watching it blow up in his face. Peter Moore is available.

Make Xbox great again. Hire Peter Moore.

Sidenote: Lol at that launch line up.
