There is no denying Xbox is now going to be at a major disadvantage come holiday launch when shoppers have to choose between the two consoles. Apologies for the Dramatics :messenger_tears_of_joy:

In the end Playstation fanboys gave Halo fans a better Halo. I like the irony.

They showed something, people didn't like it. They should really delay the box too until they have a game to go with it. First console in history to be released with no games, strange times.
A later console release is suicide and it's not like Sony has a dozen games, they only have a better Spiderman DLC for now.

It's a win win. Gloaters are justified; xBox fans may still get a good game but they'll have to wait an appropriate amount of time considering how intensely they trolled the PS5 "deep dive" and even reveal for months.

It's not DLC if it's in a box. Most games use the previous engine and build on it. We don't know how much new content is in the game so it's impossible to say.

Nah, now the outrage mob moved the goalpost and wants the removal of executive leadership.

Just kidding, I advocated for a delay and I'm very happy that it happened.

That "Spider-man DLC" is going to be huge for the PS5 at launch
Of course it is, what other options are there for exclusives for the PS5 during launch? I mean honestly... I liked Spiderman a lot.. but this will do well simple from a lack of options.

As for Halo... Glad they listened to the fan base and delayed the game. I can't imagine the people trolling had much of an impact on their decision because they were going to be overly critical anyways. But when the fan base and gaming media shares the same opinion of the trolls.. its good MS put it off.

The launch lineups do seem lukewarm for now but this will be the best lineup Sony has had in a while IMO

Spider-man Miles Morales
Godfall
Kena
The Pathless
Deathloop
Astro's Playroom

Funnily enough, when DLC for OG Spider-Man was first speculated, I really wanted for it to be set during winter / Christmas season. And of course with Miles Morales we're getting exactly that.

That's why i said "better" DLC. It's not a full new Spiderman, but it's a bit more than a DLC. Maybe standalone DLC is the better term.

The game looked like shit, enough that it could have probably been the "Halo killer" that other games have been dreaming of being for years now. If they didn't rework it, the IP was doomed for ~10 years at minimum since they likely would have tried to patch in meaningless incremental fixes over a 5 year plan to support the game. Then you have Phil "don't expect anything from him or judge him for 15 years" Spencer at the reigns, so you'd be at least another 5 years on top of that to see his next game.

*edit* spelling

They should've done everything to make sure Halo looked mind blowing day one but it's good that they're delaying it to improve the game
You like Halo? I was surprised that you were probably only one who agree with me that XB1 OG launch line-up was good. So you know, you have probably same perspective as me. So just asking...

I'd say Halo hasn't been my exact cup of tea but I did enjoy Halo 4's story/campaign and Halo 5's multiplayer.

And yeah, I loved Ryse and Dead Rising 3 for the XB1 launch

I just want to play multiplayer at 60 or 120 FPS, could not care less about the graphics or campaign, so it’s a mild annoyance, but doesn’t really bother me.

Halo 5s MP is the best in the series so I’m hoping they keep all the enhanced mobility moves.

I mean sure, they just lost their killer-app for the launch of the new Xbox.
But if that was the direction they were going for after 5 years of development and a massive budget, will this delay save the game ?

Yes, the delay is good in the long term. But the job is not finished until replacing 343 Industries management. Bonnie has to go.

It's a step in the right direction.

Halo has been seriously mismanaged since Bungie left though, and as long as it's shackled to the XO, it will always have to be a flawed experience to what it could be.

Drop the crossgen bollocks and fire the idiots at the helm, then anyone else not pulling their weight over at 343, then I'll be more optimistic about both Infinite and the potential future of the franchise.

I honestly really do miss good Halo games.

The outrage wasn’t coming from people that were fans or going to play it (for the most part,) but 343 and Xbox did what they felt was best and there’s nothing anybody can do to change that.

These people would have probably preferred to have both Halo Infinite and Xbox Series X cancelled, but I guess obtaining a delay for Halo is already as small victory for them.

Good step, but delay means nothing if they don't actually improve on the game. They could use this extra time to just finish the game like what they did with crackdown3..etc

Finished game =/= impressive game.

The moment i entered NeoGAF i declared what i expected from MS, nothing but an over hyped misleading average service.

UE5, ratchet rift apart and horzion 2 are just a taste of what is coming and they are a solid evidence of that tech. Look at inFAmous Second Son then look at Ghost, wow factor will be greater than that in the next generation of playstation. While series X will lack such hype simply because they are limited by a service based subscription and limited by last gen architecture. You like it or not PS5 and its exclusives are revolutionary in terms of gaming development.
I agree. But you are still expecting too much from him. Yes he reached a point where he is able to buystudios but that doesn't mean that we will get high budget games. If you really want big GAMES from ms you should make sure that phil knows that you are not giving him the benefit of the doubt. Once you play his new games and they match the quality of ps exclusives then we will start respecting him a bit by bit, but the fact that he is downplaying exclusives and next gen exclusives is a sign that he is not aiming to create big games. So why would i trust his leadership? Why would i wait eagerly for his next conference?

Nothing is changed since than. Nothing will change until i start playing impressive games in my PC.

I'm actually more curious to know the development hell this game went through, there's no way that was a 5 years effort, something had happen and as always 343i wasn't able to manage it. That studio need serious help in the management field

I hope the can do something with this delay.
but on the other side, the marketing campaign was putting Halo so much up front for the XSX launch, it’s going to be tough for Microsoft.

Based on the 2018 In-engine trailer, if that trailer is not a misleading ad, they obviously don't lack ambition. But their ambition has been crushed by:

- Low standard QC from MS
- Awful and careless leadership of that studio.

Yep the trailer was good, and maybe even the original pitch was good, as the time passes i'm more inclined to think the management is seriously lacking, other than that they probably miss a few key talent in art and programming (seeing MCC), i mean there's something good to be salvaged but i think if they don't ditch the x1 version we will never see the light. I'm always a multiplat buyer, but this time i'll probably wait 6 months for both, i can't see a single game that is screaming "pls buy nextgen!", one of the worst lineup i've ever seen, halo infinite was the only think i was going to get a launch xsx

I think (I have no basis in this other then my own belief) that they spent more time playtesting and focusing on multiplayer.

The campaign gameplay they showed looked fun, and I’m not going over the game in slow motion frame by frame, so it was fine to me, but obviously they felt different.

As long as they don’t fuck up the multiplayer Arena, the rest matters very little in the overall scheme of things, though I do expect the will drop the XB1 version if it slips to next fall, as it will be outside that 2 year announcement they made last winter.

not so sure, that campaign gameplay didn't look fun to me, i don't think they're able to manage a semi openworld setting, all i saw is a bunch a randomly placed enemies and no strategy or planning whatsoever, hope i'm wrong, but it felt lackluster in every aspect
