Guerrilla is clearly making a second game. They hired the creative director and a lead designer, both from the Rainbow Six Siege team, and they are currently working at GG. That lead designer also previously worked on SOCOM.

But Horizon 2 has its own creative director already, same guy who did HZD.

They hired a 2nd game director for their second game, could be a shooter. R6Siege is a tactical multiplayer FPS (I love it) and SOCOM could also be a tactical multiplayer FPS, could even be same style of 5v5 CQC military PvP with no respawns. Guerrilla's engine already made Killzone with multiplayer FPS, so the studio could easily do it.

Sony has also said it wants to explore multiplayer games more and SIE 1st party currently lacks an online centric FPS. So it all seems highly possible.

Why don't they just revive Killzone? The multiplayer modes of its second and third entries were immensely popular. So, if they were to bring back the grit and intensity of those entries, which was missing from Killzone: Shadow Fall, the franchise would boom again and fulfill Sony's need for a competitive online shooter.

My personal hype for this console launch is at an all time low.

I may get more excited once the PR machine really ramps up but as of right now I have not seen a single thing that screams I must have this.

Knowing I am buying a 3090 and plan on playing all multiplats on PC this year and might only buy the PS5 for the few exclusives I will play really has me down on the new consoles.

My hype level right now 3/10 but start showing me stuff and I am sure that will rise.

With the new Nvidia and AMD GPU leaks it's now clear, that PS5 will rarely hit max 2230MHz clocks under load or Sony needed to invest heavily into GPU cores to hit those.

Mark Cerny said it'll remain most of the time at 2.23GHz and 3.5GHz for the CPU. So back off your shitty FUD or else you'll be reported for spreading FUD after contradicting with Sony officials with nothing but tales from your ass.

I find myself fascinated by cameras more than games nowadays.
Help me GAF, I'm slipping away šŸ˜„

Is it the Sony a7S III or Canon R5/R6? Come to our haven:

?
I'm not referring to the 55" prototype Sony showed off 8 years ago. They've been making these displays for years on the professional side of things that are currently used in the real world:
CLEDIS.jpg

Yes, Sony buys LCD and OLED panels from the open market for their consumer displays, they also build their own panels for professional displays. Micro LED is a completely different beast though that they could build on their own once the tech matures.

Micro LED sets aren't like LCD or OLED where the display has to be cut from a larger substrate. That method is extremely expensive and wasteful because a small defect in a panel will make the whole thing useless. Micro LED is still very expensive now as it's newer and scaling is still an issue, but the goal is for micro LED to be considerably cheaper than traditional display styles. Instead of having to make a perfect (or close to perfect) display all at once you're making much smaller segments and joining them together Lego-style. If a segment doesn't pass QA just rip it out and replace it with another segment. Far less waste as you don't have to toss the whole display. Manufacturing facilities won't be nearly as expensive as LCD/OLED plants since they don't have to focus on manufacturing large substrates to cut displays from, they just need to build these relatively small segments and assemble.

Sony and Samsung have been working on the tech for a long time, along with some other companies. Right now Sony and Samsung's tech are in the same general sphere in terms of maturity, we're just waiting for some more breakthroughs to let them scale smaller and get that price further down. A shame the tech is taking so long to make it to market for consumers, but we're slowly getting there. Maybe by the time the PS5 Pro or PS6 drops, lol.

Agreed. Which is also why Sony is purchasing QD-OLED from Samsung Display. Micro-LED is still too far off. You need large scale manufacturing to make that work and there is absolutely nothing of the sort in existence. Not even in planning stages. It's possible QNED could take the reigns away from micro-LED if Samsung Electronics can't scale down size. Not really any point to micro-LED if true self-emitting quantum dot arrives on the scene. At this stage it's more of a reality. I'd love to own one myself one day, but it seems more likely QD-OLED, or even QNED, would be more affordable and fit in your living room.

10/10 for me?

Show my Cyberpunk running in 4k at launch, not later down the road.

Personal favorite of mine I want to see MLB The Show cranked up to the max.

Maybe show CoD MP running at 120 fps even if its 1080p

Day 1 next gen patches for some of the current games.

Last but not least give me my damn HDMI 2.1 Firmware update to my X900H TV.

Is all that too much to ask? ;)

Side note I am quite excited for the Nvidia show as well.

Impress me with over the top graphics on the power hungry wallet busting 3090.

Give me that 120FPS and an FoV slider.

"I would say a learning from the Xbox One generation is we will not be out of position on power or price,ā€ says Phil Spencer.

He does not say anything about 1 specific console, just Xbox in general. Also, Phil lies from time to time.

And Series S will probably be $300 or $350, but $400 is possible if all the next gen consoles are priced higher than we think.

Do I really need more? Hell yes, you know, like actual facts.

Iā€™ve checked the first two items on your list and you are badly misrepresenting the truth in both casesā€¦

1) Halo Infinite
He does talk about the shortcomings of dynamic lighting and how that contributes to the problem but does not suggest it was ā€˜an easy fixā€™. Iā€™ve added direct quote below to show how misleading your take isā€¦ā€¦

"the dynamic lighting technology is core to 343's plans and it's hard to believe it would be scrapped or dramatically altered this close to launch."

"Beyond indirect lighting, the next largest point to look at is level of detail. Rocks, grass and even far-off fog billboards exhibited jarring pop-in."

"Then there are smaller things like the lack of first-person shadows on the view weapon and the Master Chief's hands. Games like Crysis 3 have been doing this since 2013."

"Also curious are some very 'solid' looking opaque effects for elements like shields - I much prefer Bungie's approach in Halo Reach."

"I'm not fully sold on some of the choice of materials:
yes, the indirect lighting is a real issue in how these are rendered in this demo, but there's a lot of plastic and standard metal on display here - a far cry from the very vibrant, alien-like materials used in prior Halo games."

"I hope the message gets through that
the reaction to the Halo Infinite reveal isn't down to this format - which is exactly what we want to see - but rather down to the content."

No big deal? Easy fix? The article says no such thing. You just wanted them to publish the Craig meme and call it a day.

2) Spiderman ray tracing.

This 'evidence' is from Twitter. There was a single screenshot from the Spiderman game and Alex was askedā€¦

"Q: what do you think Alex? Raytraced?

Alex: Low angle with post-process DOF in the background is the best way to show off SSR as the low angle means most of everything on screen can be reflected.
Need a different shot to say something more definitive."

So, based on the single-screenshot Alex said, effectively, ā€œI canā€™t tell from this image aloneā€.

Oh my, how damning!

What you claim in the first two points of your list is so inaccurate and, ironically, extremely biased, that Iā€™m not going to waste my time hunting down these other ā€˜transgressionsā€™. I'm can only assume that thereā€™s nothing to them except for your own irrational dislike for the guy.

Note: The fact that you list Kingtrash as proof of something is not a positive sign. Sheesh.

I think, in a case like this where you attempt to damage someoneā€™s reputation based on unfounded accusations, that you should, at the very least, use direct quotes and actual links. If you canā€™t find them, then donā€™t make outrageous claims and then present them as fact.

As someone asks for evidence and ignores something like this:

And no, we're not here trying to destroy a man's reputation ... He did it himself!

Alex was doing FUD ... Equals, Digital Foundry is doing FUD ...
They gained people's trust, and then their interests simply went above that.
Someone who says he is impartial, in a communication vehicle that reaches millions of consumers does this type of campaign, how in his right mind can he take this gentleman's words as true?

They could. Killzone is a more scif fi / fantastic future IP world. Even Guerrila said it was conceived of as like an alternate WW2 in the future. Thats one option for a game, but it limits the guns and tech and world to that IP.

I could see them instead wanting to revive SOCOM if they desire using modern day military tech instead of Killzone style tech and weapons.

Its just a stylistic choice and could affect how big the game sells. I'd personally rather play a modern day FPS like COD and R6 then a Killzone or Halo sorta future sci fi FPS, but thats just me.

Actually nothing about this says fanboy. Most of it is what we should expect and normal.
Seems very fake. What the hell are 10 party and 30 party games? Is that supposed to be 1st and 3rd party games? Why do they think Godfall is 1st party? Its not. We also know Ratchet is not a launch day game. And so on, too many errors to be taken seriously.

Silent Hill is rapidly becoming the worst kept secret in the industry, haha.

Also:

"I would say a learning from the Xbox One generation is we will not be out of position on power or price,ā€ says Phil Spencer.

Technically, they aren't out of position in either category. They have power; they will probably be reasonable on price.

Where they are out of position is in compelling software and a clear direction in line with what gamers want, which is much worse than power or price.

Strange post, I asked for evidence yes. I didn't ignore anything presented so why make that claim? I note that you haven't actually responded to the evidence I posted.

I don't know what your image is from, I assume it's the 'evil Xbox discord' group. I don't know whether it's genuine, but I'm prepared to take it at face value.

Is it your position that he's not allowed to post on a discord, or mix with people that you don't approve of? Or is it meant to be evidence that he's some kind of 'deep state' operative? That would be a bit ridiculous wouldn't it?

I don't see any wrong doing in what you've posted.

Is it this?

"Enjoy your time here and as far as I am concerned we are not bashing the PS5 but the ones that try to spin reality"

because I completely agree with him and the sentiment of what he said. In fact I find myself doing in this very reply. It doesn't indicate an underlying bias, only a lack of patience with the most rabid fanboys.

Nothing wrong with that.

the first tweet sounds like he copied that 4chan rumour

Got to admire the green credentials .... This rumour has been recycled almost every week since the day following the June reveal!

The day something is finally shown theyā€™ll be saying ā€œsee I told you - trust me I have insider knowledge!ā€ ignoring all the missed deadlines they gave and that these rumours are just a hodge podge of stuff talked about for months.

I decided to test your theory myself with a quick render in blender and yes you are right some weird shit happens with reflections on curved surfaces :messenger_grinning_squinting:
I have a curved TV in my living room. When I'm sitting to the left of it on the other side of the room, I can see things from my back patio reflected on it.

There are blinds on the door leading out to it, but it somehow collects light from outside at such an angle that I can see around the blinds in one spot on the curved TV surface. It's a mindfuck.

It was raytracing and physically accurate. The view angle causes a distorted upside-down view of the street below. hereā€™s a quick sketch

aSNLt84.jpg

They most likely removed it cause RT wasnā€™t playing nice with the alpha effects of the portal, causing them to pop-in after ratchet gets out. Theyā€™re probably working it out
I like your sketch, shows how a concave surface flips the reflected view

Though comparing it with the R&C footage, can see that the roads and city you drawn is actually below the angle of incidence, what is being reflected is off-screen yonder

Not implying your assumption is totally wrong. I think there is some truth to what you explained about alpha effects and RT... cos it sounds convincing and I'm playing it safe :messenger_beaming:

Great way to miss the only 2 points you talk about when I mentionned at least 10 points and it's nice how you conveniently forgot to add the twitter when he was called out about raytracing when everybody said it was raytracing and he said it was insomniac games fault if he didn't know if it was raytracing.
And you missed the first point because when you make a video to explain why a game look bad you need to explain why a game look bad, not find excuses and pull out a MS paint graphic about shadows which are probably the least of the problems this game has.Low res texture, popin, bad character models, world is statics, no light from weapons projectil or grenade and on and on and on and on....

Edit: By the way I don't like Kingthrash either but do you think you can discredit a guy that earned an apology from digital foundry when he called them out on their bullshit?
