1440p for next gen 4k series x games is simply impossible.

you would need 6 tflops to run the same game at 1440p, and around half of the vram bandwidth so 280 gbps. it has neither.

you will get somewhere around 1080p-1200p for next gen games. current gen games should run at 1440p though. thats what the pro runs at most of the time. this thing has a much better cpu so it should be able to double the framerate of most Pro games as long as they dont hit the vram bandwidth bottleneck.

its basically a weaker 5500m which is a 4.6 tflops gpu. you can look at the benchmarks for it. its basically a 1080p GPU.

Spoiler: PS5 will be 1440p/60 because XSX has double the resolution advantage and EVEN higher framerates than the PS5, according to some experts on youtube and twitter.

According to the experts here the series x version will run at 720p because they will be spending all thier time on the series s version holding it back amiright?

jose4gg jose4gg Digital Foundry agree with what you were saying a few pages back to someone.

In their Series S video, they speculate that if a next gen game is designed on XSX / PS5 to push the GPU to the limits, and run at 1440p (like the UE5 demo), then the Series S would need to drop that game down to 720p in order to be able to run it.

that makes sense. we know from the PS4 Pro, that memory bandwidth can be a MAJOR issue. 226 gbps for a current gen mid gen console wasnt enough, why do we think it will be enough for a next gen console with far higher quality assets and textures?

that might be true for xsx too. i really hope MS knows what they are doing.

is siege that good? I’ve heard good things about it, keen to pick it up. But im afraid that the learning curve might be way to steep right now.
I really like it! it can be a little difficult at the beginning because some players know every good spot and master their operators like pro players, but with some practice (and learning from your enemies) you will be fine.

But have you seen a Xbox Series S/X game with "far higher quality assets and textures?"

Honestly, I was interested in the idea of the Series S initially, but seeing a...
- Technical Producer at Remedy
- Multiplayer Designer at Infinity Ward
- Lead Engine Programmer at Id Software
all express concerns, I have "discontinued in three years" alarms going off in my head. If not, then third-parties will probably target 1080p on the thing instead of 1440p because it might not be worth the effort to tweak things precisely. Just cut the number of rendered pixels down and ship it out.

There's a reason a lot of graphically intense third-party games have straight-up ignored the Switch for the last three and a half years.
That's gonna be part of Xbox's business going forward. They will probably just put out new consoles every 3 years and eventually drop support for older models.

Why ,why ,why did they hype up 1440p talk & let that run. What was wrong with saying its 1080P entry grade box??. And sell the cheap entry message. Instead of make it seem more powerful than it is 1440p,120fps nonsense. Why do they do this to themselves?? I guess in E3 times they can get away with it cause of all the gaming news. But as standalone this is just a shit show.

Brah I thought it was a joke. But these x boxes are just suped up version of previous X & S boxes. Hate to see it. Xbox gen is going to be rough. Their boxes are literally built to be the best version of current gaming models.

Wonder what market need this is filling for Microsoft then (price aside)
It is filling we need to move gamepass members to the new generation over the next 2 years market. It is also filling the potential growing the market by being a family friendly console with gamepass. This one starts at the ps4 current mrsp. This could easily be sub 150 dollars by the end of generation like the ps2. The market shrunk by a 1/3 this could get some new people into it.

when you’ve got no games for a new console that speak for themselves then all you can really brag about is POWER this POWER that. I’m still baffled at how series S demos have been last gen games.

Theres clear concerns of the S taking 12 seconds for outer worlds (last gen) to boot up cold yet you’ve got xbox fanboys state “it’s clearly not optimised for the S” but in reality, why the fuck would microsoft use that as an example to showcase their new consoles speeds? From a marketing standpoint it makes no sense. They chose it themselves for obv reasons. If they had a last gen game that loaded faster than that then they wouldve used it for their marketing vid.

Edit; it was not a cold boot. It was from the menu to “continue”

A game tech focused channel that points out texture pop in on the far end of a map at 500x zoom but dismisses clearly visible subpar textures on a 4k video. Yeah, try again later.
I think some people here are being unfair with DF. They are a tech channel that likes to talk about interesting stuff about current game tech - not a 'review channel'.
They have done nothing but praising Sony first party studios the whole generation, said on several occasions that Halo Infite simply doesn't look good (only Alex talk about the lighting) and even in this latest video they mention how having a lower specced console could cause trouble going forward; I'm frankly having a hard time seeing why they should be biased towards MS.

Just because something needs to be heard, doesn't mean it needs to be said.

apparently, my PC with PCI3 nvme loads faster than XSS. something is not right about VA.
memory and other stuff are okay. i think we will see a lot of 1080p->1440p upscaling on that box. but given the price, i don't complain. but not buying one either.

I just hope that my favorite 3rd party games will be PS5 lead, that's all. And for this to happen, obviously PS5 have to outsell both XBox by a long marge, so i hope it will be the case. PS5 has a very sexy architecture, would be dumb for devs to not take advantage of it.
