TLOU 2 fell off the PS Store Top 20 charts for September

leads to fear. Fear leads to xbox.
This is true. People swear Abby is trans which is not true and that Neil Druckmann inserted himself into certain scenes which is also not true. Many of the games hardest haters really did act like the woke outrage mobs they claim to fighting against. Like I said in another thread eventually all we will end up with is soulless corporate cash grabs like whatever GTA V has turned into because people can't create anything without either being problematic and offensive to whatever group or woke propaganda.
And the scars were religious and out to kill lesbians

The game is 3 months old lol, linear single player games generally don't have long legs without discounts.

People were talking about the sex scene.

2020.06.18-10.33-boundingintocomics-5eebebbd76322.png

Contrary to initial assumptions, the character featured is not the member of Abby’s gang who spits upon Joel after a fight and bears a striking resemblance to Druckmann himself.

The inclusion of this scene in The Last of Us Part II also exposes the double standards of Sony themselves. While this scene was allowed to be shown in their Triple-A franchise title, even the most minor hints of sexual content, primarily from Japanese video games, has received obsessive censorship from the company.

We are living in some extremely polarizing times and anything remotely seen as woke will receive backlash from the gaming world which more than any other form of entertainment has many anti-sjw types. It's as simple as that. If this game came out in 2013 it would not be the culture war lightening rod it is now.
Not it's simple as
1) The game not having as as good of a story as the first one
This second game story is simply not good and many agree

2) Forcing a structure on fans no one asked for
Anyone who played the game knows what I'm talking about

3) Launching a smear campaign against anyone who didn't like or criticizes the game

Not everyone who dislikes the game is some "anti-sjw" type

The character had an actual person he was modeled after, not Druckmann. Leo DiCaprio looks a bit like Christopher Nolan's son, you think Nolan is saying he mind-fucked his wife into killing herself? Or maybe he just wants to?

1. They didn't know the actor who played Manny.

2. The controversy was about the sex scene. Laura Bailey had to make a statement about it.

Just came in here to say stay mad nerds you'll keep getting strong women and lgbt representation in games because the world does not revolve around you.

The main backlash was the messed up and misleading story. People jumped onto the Abby trans thing as a laugh. I don't even think we need to do spoiler tags anymore, but just in case here's the main kicker. Name one person who liked this switcheroo BS:
Game promoted as tons of Joel in it. He gets killed early. Half the game is Abby. And those old teaser previews bait and switched Joel with someone else in the final game

They never teased "tons" of Joel. The amount of time he spends present in the trailers collectively is insanely minimal. Watch them all again, count it. Yes, they did do a bait and switch with one particular scene, but that was also his only appearance in the trailer you mentioned. Not sure it'd be preferable they out-and-out said
hey, Joel dies in this

ND wouldn't have to say that. Just don't show Joel in those switcheroo scenes. There's no reason to even have him in those preview shots if the final game has another character there.

I was never invested in this but what a fuckup. 'Dr. Uckmann'? However funny that would be, but 'therapy'? 'Think of it like working out for your brain.'?
Imbecile.
Well if you the anti semitic shit he was getting for days and days you'd probably say the same thing. It's a game people, let it go. It doesn't need to live rent free in your heads...

It's clever misdirection, they did a similar thing with the 2014 Godzilla movie (most movies due it, usually by splicing two shots together to create a false impression) where they edited out all the other monsters in the trailer shots, including shots the monsters are in in the movie to keep you in the dark about it. It also had a backlash from people who wanted a movie where Godzilla is the villain but honestly the sort of people who want to know whole stories prior to seeing them shouldn't have so much of a say on this stuff.

I don't blame him for having an eff the haters attitude. When devs stand up to the woke brigade and tell them where to stick it we all clap for them for refusing to back down but when Neil takes the same mentality towards the haters he is wrong about it. Why doesn't he have as much right to stand up for his creation as anybody else?

That's a different kind of misdirection because because putting explosion and actions scenes in a trailer out of sequence is to protect the chronological order of the plot. Nobody expects any movie trailer to show the whole plot from beginning to end in 30 seconds.

Joel being bait and switched in trailers would be like showing Arnold in Terminator movie ads thinking he's the main character, but turns out he's barely in the movie, or he's edited out and replaced with a different human or CGI terminator.

That's a BS misdirection on cast, in which if people are shown in a movie, they expect them to be there and not edited out and replaced with another character in the same scene.

I started by hating this game, based in the leaks that I read and watched... I really hated it... story wise.

But then, after talking about the game with a friend, who didn't even play the 1st game, he kinda showed me some good points about everything else, since the story looked really bad... He bought me the game and then I started playing it... And guys, I'm really in love with it... I totally changed my mind... I wanted to kill Abby in so many ways when I read the spoilers lol... but then, after actually playing it, even with that very bad written plot in the first 2 hours of the game, the rest of it looks really awesome... the combat, the characters, the art of the game, even abby, I kinda like her...
Sadly the game was bashed so bad, that it ended up killing the sales... (it sold many copies, I know, but it could've sold a lot more...

So please, if you didn't buy the game based on the "plot" or because of the lgbt agenda that it might have, I must say, give it a try, because even if you don't like the story (what I doubt, if you actually play it), at least everything else is really worth your time.

She was clearly meant to be a secret before the leaker spoiled the whole thing. That being said, I'm probably the worse person to speak too about the game because I thought the first game was absolutely positively meh from start to finish. I quit the PS3 version half way through, thought it focused on the story too much and it took a 60fps remaster in the PS4 on sale to get me interested again enough to finish it.

TLOU 2 felt like more of a video game in my eyes and the gameplay trailers had me more interested than anything story related with all the combat and stealth changes and the story was a legit surprise to me, one of the best since Silent Hill 2.

I guess I just care more about how it played than any perceived "betrayal" towards the fan base and the great story was a bonus: And even then I was never one to feel like that, even after Neegan split Glen's head open like a Gallagher melon I just enjoyed both the comic and show to see where it was going. Hell, The Wire and Oz killed series favorites on the regular and it was just accepted that it needed to happen to move the story along.

I feel like video games have to walk a fine line between player first design and story telling because if you tell the story you want to tell you run the risk of pissing off the audience.

I bought it, played through the end, shitty 30fps controller shooter, plus a really bad story and characters, worst stealth mechanics than MGS V and Dishonored, specially when you can play both at 144fps on a M+KB.

Well, tlou is more of a complete game then mgs that would be almost 100% stealth, so I dunno if this is a fair comparison hehe

You have to be honest. lol

God of War was on sale in June and July.

Spider-Man bundle was flying off the shelves and it was also during Black Friday.

We have to see how The Last of Us Part II performs on PSN next month.
Do you want to take a bet TLOU2 player numbers will be lower than God of War in the first 120 days? Every day that passes the lead just increases.

This is so going to get bundled with PS5 at launch (see guys, we do back compat even though every one says no one plays old games on new systems. And dont forget, play has no limits when there is this much stock in the warehouse).

The majority of sales were from pre-orders and people going in blind on release day. Naughty Dog was extremely deceitful with their trailers and gameplay showings leading up to release. Once word got out about this, most people that waited no longer had any interest in the game so it would make sense that it was not in the top 20 in August.

Why would I do that knowing GoW was on sale for nearly the entire summer?

My game hating dude, your charts are for August not September. (September it may or may not be back since it only just got a price cut Sept 2)

Sony fans, are we ready to admit this game bombed when you consider the budget? I know I'm a Nintenchad and I might sound like a troll, but I actually wanted to believe in this game and I rooted for it to deliver because the team had to pull through so much shit. But it wasn't there. Maybe some self-reflection is in order? Is ND going to do the same game forever?

Go on Twitter and ask Mat Piscatella or ZhugeEX if the game bombed.

They're going to tell you no, but I'm sure you're going to find some reason to disagree with him. lol

From one perspective, I respect the fact that ND defended their vision and the game they wanted to make, instead of simply delivering what people expected from them. What bothers me, though, is that they're coming around as so closed from any sort of criticism, instead of being open-minded, taking notes, reflecting and trying to learn a little bit about what happened.

They obviously fucked it up big time from a business perspective. They could've told a story artistically just as good or better without alienating their audience, and save themselves from all the backlash they've got. I still can't believe Sony greenlighted that story.

We have to see how The Last of Us Part II performs on PSN next month.

God of War took 41 days to reach 6M players, from 20-04-18 to 30-05-18, before the "June sale" you love to mention.
The Last of us 2 Took 51 days to reach 6M players from 19-06-20 to 20-08-08.

110 million ps4 consoles and the highest selling exclusive is uncharted 4 at 16 million so it's not surprising this has slowed to a crawl.

Sony exclusive games aren't as popular as what some of us think.

Most owners ie 94 million seem to prefer 3rd party stuff.
TLOU 2 already passed UC4 in revenue in the US, which means a lot of those sales were due to bundles. I'll reach over 16 million.

Also GoW was 2018. LoU2 is 2020. Lots more PS4 systems on the market this year for LoU2 sales.

PS4 now has around 110M systems. in mid 2018, PS4 was around 80 million.

What? We were talking about gameplay, they are both stealth games, TLOU2 even copy some mechanics from MGS V, it is a fair comparison to both MGS and Dishonored. All 3 games revolve around the player hiding and killings enemies without being seen, with the ability to kill even after being spotted.

Budget considered? The game performed as well as everyone expected? I see. Well, I'll ask again once we have more concrete numbers.

You are comparing a linear (abysmal) story game to open world/semi-open world games with side quests, optional areas, hidden secrets, endgame content and good story.

Maybe there's one for just beating the game instead of platinuming it? Not sure where their numbers came from tbh.

What time is it?

Of course they are talking about finishing the game and not the Platinum.

TLOU2 - What I Had To Do - Complete the Story - 58.8%

I've not complete GOT but I'm assuming it's the Sovereign End trophy which is 58.6% So the completion percentage is virtually the same.

Usually numbers are really high at the beginning, it goes down with time especially after sales.
