Playstation has always been a heavily Western-focused division, even during the Kutaragi days. It's the same for several Sony divisions, which is why they've been so successful in US/EU. But anyway, all this is beside the point. This strict anti-leak stance hasn't always been successful, pretty much everything about the PS4 leaked beforehand, bar the RAM. Entire E3 shows have leaked before, the ending of TLoU2 leaked months before it released. Leaks happen. You can take measures to combat them as much as you like but they'll still happen because that's the nature of large creative business. It seems that Sony have managed to avoid PS5 leaks by basically not telling anyone in the media anything lol, that will change as they begin to brief the media.

That link goes to information about just the US HQ. Not the whole picture.

And Sony have done a bang up job on preventing leaks for the Ps5 so far.

And photorealistic visuals.

Can't get over the visuals on Forbidden West... Look at the vegetation, the rocks. This is world building, making the player (or even the spectator) to feel the fictional world around the protagonist as if it were real

More than that. They lost the chicken battle. They tried to wait it out. Didn't work. They got forced to go first. Ps5 hype is too high. Those ign polls are hurting them. It was a controlled leak. Otherwise they would of just announced their show for the week. They had too much ready to go material to be a leak. I think they bit on the playstation 25th anniversary date rumor. And looked to upstage Sony. But Sony made no moves. The celebrations happened on zoom calls and some offices.

100% couldn't agree more.

Both of you are right however there is no denying the West influence, in 2016 Playstation "global" headquarters was moved from Japan to California and present CEO isn't Japanese. I do believe of course the fundamental Japanese culture and Board are what continue to help shape Sony's strategy. A more synergistic culture as opposed to what I see as Microsofts disadvantage as being wholly western focused and doing things based off that paradigm.

Yep, that's absolutely right. Of course there's western influence - Sony is a global company - but the idea that its somehow dominated by Americans or Europeans is just crazy. The Japanese business culture is still inherent to the way they run the company. It should be noted, that they would have died a death a long time ago if they hadn't become more open to Western influence, and it was the failure of the Ps3 at launch that partially led to that shift in their thinking.

I like Microsoft's idea with the S. It is a great price and a good value for what it is. But the cracks are beginning to show--

Developers aren't happy with a bottleneck for next-gen. We have seen it vocalized many times since the reveal. It will still sell very well for the price point.

It really will, but I'm wary of it's future as developers harness the power of the XSX and the PS5 over time.

Sony is one of the most powerful players in the industry, so I do not expect them to put themselves in a pickle with a premium price. I think we're looking at $399DE/$499 Disc.

But they have massive profitability and it is known Microsoft is taking a loss on the S. It isn't out of the realm for Sony to go $349/449. That puts them $50 above the S for the exact same power. I don't believe, personally, they'll do it, but it will seriously hurt Microsoft if they do.

HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 , any idea if this event is the one they slam down those exclusivity bombs?

It's a big stretch, but going $349/449 would make next gen Xbox nearly DOA. They had to have at least considered it.

Honestly 399$ is the lowest that I can see them hitting. But that's unlikely to happen unless the BOM is alot cheaper than what we thought. I personally am expecting a 499$ price point with at least one SKU.

I do not know that exact information. But it should be this month. If it is not next week, it is probably due to the close dates equivalent to the TGS. 40 minutes seem few to me, so I imagine they will split it into two events. But it is just speculation.

To be fair it probably doesn't take them alot of time to drop that information. All you would need is a slide with the launch dates and the prices. I can definitely see them having an announcement like that in a 40 minute event. Then they could always release additional information via PlayStation Blog.

Only thing with this is that the PS5 is WAY more powerful than the Series S. If they really got the pricing to be only $50 more...wow. That would be a big advantage to Sony.

With Sony officially announcing their last Showcase being game centered and not about the system, we can conclude Sony has conceded the battle over whose system is superior.

We had one show from Cerny that basically concentrated on the SSD and that was all. To be honest I am kind of surprised, I was expecting much more in depth breakdown of the system and how its technology will be utilized, especially them addressing the lack of features that Xbox has reveal since the breakdown.

So many people were here arguing that the PS5 basically had many of the same features Xbox had highlighted and that it would announce them as we got closer, which ended up never happening even after having opportunities to come out and reveal more of the technology.

It feels very similar to the PS4 Pro vs X1X situation, I just would have assumed Sony wouldn't have been this easy of a push over again.

$399 Digital
$499 Full Fat

Providing they've got Spiderman and the like ready for launch, it will stell strongly.

If it's less that that ($349 or even $299 for Digital) then it will seriously cripple Xbox.

Not the same groundhog day shit again today, please.
x has ~45% more compute units and ~25% bandwidth over ps5. and a fixed performance on that gap.
that ain't changing no matter what.
there is a reason that sony does not want to do a hardware stripdown, and the sooner you get to grips with it, the better.

Are you still flogging that old dead horse, i have been away for a few days, been sick and i basically come back and you're still on that same old page.

Look around you ffs, look at the excitement in here, wtf is it with you and a little bit of power.

Its the fucking games that matter dude, you're like a broken fucking record.

COME ON.
I am seriously beginning to suspect you have downs or something.

Start getting excited for the ps5, you know your getting one anyways..

Dude its ok that you were wrong. Flight Sim and Gears Tactics are PC games. (And so are all Microsoft games now.)

Cheer up. PlayStation 5 is coming!

dude...

and fs might come to consoles as well

and sorry, but I am not excited about ps5, nothing interesting shown so far for me (and I owned all playstation consoles since psone)

Likewise. I don't envy the XBox team's job with this.

Meh It's an easy job. They play themselves. They should start with stay the fuck out of Playstations way. Don't pit yourself against Playstation. And most important stop lying.

They have a fanbase. If xbox went the way of Nintendo in Marketing/PR. They would be fine. But they keep trying to out playstation ,playstation. All it does is expose how bad they are compared to the comp. And that is whats damaged them. They went full console war retard & have been stuck in getting 2013 get back. They failed to push their product with Phil taking up all the promo runs.

If they followed Nintendo's way. Xbox would be much better place. IMO

XSX also feeds those CU 20 % slower clock...

And the big one, each L1 cache is feeding 14 CU, Microsoft did not want to talk about that at hotchips....

On ps5 its L1 cache feeding 10 CU, same as PC RDNA2.

Do you feel confident XSX will feed all those CU with just 4 shader arrays ? What have you seen to suggest this.

XSX has been designed as a server for 4 instances, hence the 14 CU in each. I am interested to see the real world performance.

Lets see how XSX performs shall we ?

The last June PlayStation event was called "The Future of Gaming", this time it's simply called "PlayStation 5 Showcase". Hopefully, we get a nice glimpse of the UI, new OS features, etc.

Likely not gonna happen but I wish there's PS5 teardown or at least shortly after the event. Pretty please Sony!
