To me this seems like a marketing tactic to make sure preorder hype is at a fever pitch when and is a sure fire way make these things fly off the shelves. It’s extremely effective tactic. I just hope we’re not looking at a 360 RRod death part 2 here.
You're misunderstanding, bad yields occur in every chip production, those not passing minimum requirements are not used in final product.

If the new cooling system is as efficient as they make it out to be, then it is very unlikely that will happen.

I agree with the notion of generating shortages to increase demand.

Its the old, 'we are increasing production of units to ensure we meet demand... also expect shortages"

Low yields always pretty much occur out of the gate and increase as it goes (as the article states it already has) so im pretty much ok with that, I don't expect any hardware changes like some people are stating which is just plain silly. Honestly the only new info imo is the price estimate and lower target on units. Soooo preorder haha, the plan continues. I mean realistically, the ones that don't pass simply just won't be used anyways. Sure price could be effected which would be unfortunate but even then I doubt it does. Just my opinion atleaast. Others of course may differ. I'm fine with this new info minus maybe preorders being tighter. Hopefully Wednesday is a great day!

Stop spreading random tweets, fake insiders whatever that guy who keeps guessing dates, Tidus, Blue whatever, and others.
Ryan and Sage are not even close to fake insider status, stop that shit.
Are you guys really that bored that you'd share things from nobodies like Sage?

He’s one of those Xbox fans who is totally neutral and is going to get both systems at launch! /s

The concern post are already starting, another known fan who is not buying a PS5 now due this yield news :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Ehh, I gotta say, I don't think having to cut production due to 50% of your chips failing is really a great marketing tactic.

Glad I wasn't planning to get a PS5 because I sure as hell wouldn't' be getting one now.

Real talk...

Thanks for listening to what I said and not spreading FUD.

has cut its estimated PlayStation 5 production for this fiscal year by 4 million units, down to around 11 million, following production issues with its custom-designed system-on-chip for the new console, according to people familiar with the matter.

PS5 supply production reportedly increased to 10 million units by the end of 2020

Pick one.

The truth will set you free. Stay winning 💚

OK This is huge. RE ran badly on PS5 but run perfectly on XSX...

Also, according to IGN XSX has more exclusive than PS5.

RTX I/O = DIRECT Storage API = Big win for Xbox and Microsoft.

RTX I/O = DIRECT Storage API with Nvidia GPU.
MS created DIRECT Storage= Big win for MS/Xbox and DX12U.

To anyone thinking TSMC is having yeild issues on an under 40 CU chip (with 4 innactive) has some mental issues or knows absolutely nothing about this topic :messenger_tears_of_joy:

And to the Xbox fans eating this shit up, you do know your console has 50+ CUs under the same fab node by the same TSMC. If the ps5 yeilds are 50%, then the xsx is what? 20%?

Just use your brains guys and learn to assess what's even in the realm of possible / logic :messenger_smirking:

Too funny... every piece of bad news for Xbox gets posted here and the minute PlayStation gets bad news... the herd gets rilled up. #GlassHouse

:messenger_grinning_squinting:

Kind sir, TSMC having bad yields will affect the xsx way more than the ps5. The fact you think this would be bad news for the ps5 and not for the xsx shows how out of your element you are here, I'm sorry to tell you that.

Most of all, it's not true. TSMC is reported to have historically high yields on the 7nm fab node. So relax, neither console will have any such issues.
