PS5 base is weird. It has a stupid looking wing that clips onto the back of the console to hold it in place. Its not just a circle.

Alright, let me put into other words. Deployment is the last part of development, it's when you compile things for testing. It's not develop to XSX or PC, press a button and it will run on everything. It will execute in everything and likely "blue screen" on weaker machines.

The problem with that is the RAM limitation (I won't even consider the GPU on this case). It won't be a couple of years but the entire gen with a ball & chain attached to the devs that go for multiplatform.

PS devkits aimed to be "coded to the metal" targeting a very specific hardware to squeeze every drop of potential from it. Look into Android vs iPhone or Windows vs IOS. There is a major hardware power difference between them. One must target significantly fewer hardware than the other.
You are right that we still have a way to go before games start to write themselves automatically without human intervention.
Other than that though, I believe you got your answer on whether "series s will be a driving reason for developers to turn ps5 exclusive", which was your original dilemma.
right?

about your new ....considerations :messenger_beaming: , ms has already build technologies that they call "memory multipliers".
I am pretty sure I had written about this when a formal example was presented, but here is a recap just for you:

So, can we assume that the Series S is basically "dead on arrival"? I mean for 100 Dollars more you get the PS5 DE.... Furthermore with a PS Plus subscription you get a lot of PS4 games (better value than Gamepass in my opinion). Maybe console only gamers will get it for the games that don't come to PS5 later down the generation.

Do we know how long that hdmi cable is? I run mine up through trunking behind my tv, so it needs to be a relatively decent length.
I imagine the cable included will be same as PS4, which I think is only 1 or 2 meter long or so. And HDMI 2.1 won't work over certain really long cables. Might need to check that, or maybe buy a longer cable off Amazon or something.

Nah, lots of folk out there who want to spend as less money as possible. It'll sell quite a few units, but it's obvious that both Series are going to be overshadowed in sales by the PS5.

Expect the Series X to NOT be sold out in almost every country, while the PS5 will not be seen at all on retailers.

Series S will only make sense to me once it gets price dropped down to like $250 or less. Then its fine. Just like I wouldn't pay $300 for a Switch right now, not worth the price. Especially since the PS5 DE is only $400.

He also mentions that devs may omit ray-tracing on Series S if need be in order to keep the performance up. 👀
I am disagree with that because even if I think XSS is a little hell for devs I don't think they will remove the RT but about
how good the RT will be compare to XSX is another story.

So I've seen benchmarks for 3090 - only 10% better than 3080.
So

3060 ??%%
PS5/XSX
2080TI -100% = 3070
3080 - 125%
3090 -137%

I wouldn't buy 3070 over consoles IMO.
3080 is fucking sweet.
i saw the same, man NVIDIA could have big problems with its current drivers or those GPUs have more than one
bottleneck.

When was the presentation of NVIDIA I was sure that 3080 will be enough to double any framerate in console but
after the reviews I am not sure this can happen in rasterization.
PS5 has good hardware decompression in place, between eliminating duplicates and heavier data compression, the same game should be smaller on PS5 (assuming it has been repackaged for the device).
Regarding spiderman I can understand is a crossgen title, disappointing but understandable.

And that demon souls well just looks the quality of the textures.

That interviews looks like Richard was trying to explain why you cannot say XSS is better deal that PS5 digital for
the simple reason of the hardware in many aspects is closer to be current gen than next gen even when in theory
Xbox will support all this gen.

Yeah this whole stand thing still bothers me but I know once I have it set up I’ll rarely move it.

Also, everyone thinking that button by the product sticker is for the SSD bay, I’m pretty sure that’s to help line up the stand.

We will see. I will be suprised if it does well, being only 100$ cheaper than the PS5.

Agreed, it looks like the expansion bay is somewhere else. It does seem more and more likely the PS5 outer plates will be removable to access the bay inside.

Oh you meant something like the Geometry Engine?
"Aborting process of a vertex, if all the geometry that uses it is off screen" = Process only what the eyes can see.
Cerny: "Been there, done that."

PS5 is able to do that as well, with the advantage of double the I/O of XSX/XSS. Just imagine how much higher it will be able to go past the "on paper specs" due to this.

But yeah man, as others already said, keep up with your dreams, I'm done. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I think it's a very poor deal vs the ps5 diskless, saying that maybe its something for some users to use to blow through the Microsoft library.

but if you don't own a gaming pc it might be ok.

There are some good games on their system like ori and its sequel. Other games like, gears, halo. forza etc. They might not be of the level of ps games but they are worth a play esp if you binge them. If they sold the console and give you a couple of months you could blow there entire library, would take some doing but its an option.

My favorite game of all time is Grimdawn, i have +1200 hours in it, that's before my pc melted. That is coming to xbox.

So far that game is not coming to ps4/5 and it really pains me. i would give up most of my library just for that game.

Imagine a black Friday sale in a years time or two if the console hits 200 bucks, with 3 months worth of game pass and some of Microsofts new exclusives come out. I might be tempted then, but now, no way.

After all is said and done I am sticking to Sony, cant beat God, horizon and clank and many more.

I think I have made the crazyness of purchasing the 900dolars PS5 Brazilian version from Submarino with 200 reais crash back

I am contributing for greedy Brazilian market. I am a sick clown.

I was Just so frustrated about the fact that PS4 fat I got when Invisited US is broken and couldnt play the Last of Us, ghost of tsushima and só many other games. As Crazy as It sounds, Im Going to play old cheap PS4 games for the most Part initially +Demon Souls

Isn't COD Warzone like 200Gb on current consoles? Therefore those seem fine for me, but I guess later games will be much bigger
Remember that devs won't have to duplicate data on HDD due to SSD. I'm expecting that the Warzone size will be significantly lower on next gen machines.

The big question is what happens if the numbers don't move much as the generation continues, which I think was the main point that DF was trying to make in the video above. We are used to seeing steady cost reductions. But, what if that doesn't happen? What if the hardcore players are ready to pay $500 while the general market is waiting for the price drops that never happen? How prepared is Sony to actually sell the PS5 DE? If there is a limited allocation of DE units now due to costs, what happens if the numbers don't change much over time? Is MS more willing to stand behind the product they designed to specifically hit the sales price?

Really too many questions to make much of a judgement just yet. In particular, we need to see if the PS5 DE exists as a nice "doorbuster" in the advertisements (with hardly ever any at the store), or is this a product that will be stocked in equal number to the PS5.

This Xbox technology is to do with textures though, loading only what's needed

NVIDIA RTX 3080 runs Crysis Remastered in 4K/Max Settings at 25-32fps

So much for “Unlimited Powa”. 😂

I’m just teasing. I know the card is a beast with enough power to spare. The article is still funny, though.

I don't think powa is the issue here. Its unoptimised & missing features console have. Whats messed up is that Crysis will probably run great on consoles.

I thought PC guys were clued up but they are looking to be as dumb as Xbox guys believing in powa & numbers. Those 3000 cards are suspect. And PC powa has been getting exposed the more that crowd jumped into console war.The minute Jensen showed the marble demo running at 1440p 30 fps. It was a wrap.I knew these cards were overhyped. Out of all showcase options the best thing this guy could do was rolling marbles.lol talking big numbers & all you got is rolling marbles.

The PS5 showed us UE5 demo. Nvidia shows the world rolling marbles. And its great FOH?? The PS5 has the best graphical showcase of any hardware this year. Sony looking like wizards.

I'm sure it is the whole thing that flips including the round disc itself. One way for vertical and flip it to use horizontal.
It looks like the base is 2 part design. The bottom is a plate with rubber feet for grip, which has the clip extension arm attached to that. Then the second part of the base sits above the bottom plate and can be rotated to configure for either orientation. This second part is also clearly groved for fitting the console shape when put vertically.

Its a fascinating base because it needs to have 1 extension clip that can be put into 2 different spots in relation to the rest of the base. So it has to rotate. It can effectively be hidden when the console is vertical, yet its still functionally helping hold the console in place, adding stability. Yet when horizontally oriented, the entire base and wing can positioned differently and yet still securely support the console.

Super interesting.

Thought for sure we would get solid info on that already as I expect it before Xbox preorders go live, even if its just a blog post/video
Damn, I forgot people are supposed to start preordering XSX without seeing a single gameplay demo running on it aside from old games. That's quite a leap of faith MS is asking gamers to do, unless they come with something on Monday.

Clearly a lot of effort went in to designing the stand that then had to be bundled because of choosing to go for form over function with the styling!

that's some matt level damage control about ps5's lack of VRS you are talking here

I don't like the design of the PS5 as it look like something weird next to my TV. I can think of many ways to make it better, but it could be dictated by their cooling solution. I don't know.
At the end, I only care about playing Demon's Souls, Spider-Man and Call of Duty cold war Campaign ( yes I only play COD for campaign 😅 I like them).

8 weeks to go

There was nothing worthwhile for me on Gamepass. Only enjoyed the Ori sequel. I already played the first one on steam. But Gears 5 was a chore. I am the type of guy who has to finish something after he started it, so I had to fight through that game :messenger_tears_of_joy:

This is the difference between MS and Sony.

MS talks about what the Series X can do and posts specs and numbers and figures.

Sony lets the games do the talking.

In the end, people can mock the fact that Sony baptizes its own VRS as 'Geometry Engine', but gameplay trailers and in-engine screenshots don't lie. We've seen the Unreal demo. We've seen Dark Souls. We've seen what the PS5 can do, and we are not concerned about the quality of the console in the slightest.

Series X so far has shown an indie game running on it and BC games upscaled. Oh, and a pc-running Halo Infinite gameplay video and screenshots that look like shit.

If I was MS, I would be less inclined to talk about VRS, 25TFs, memory born out of thin air and crap like that, and actually SHOW some damn next-gen gameplay. Just to know what the damn thing can ACTUALLY do.
