I have gone pretty much all digital with my movies and games.

i think I only have about 5 PS4 games on disc.

I a have practically nothing in regards to old systems and games.

I tend to just move on with the next generation.

4K blu ray is deader than Stadia. Everybody streams now.

It will get more popular now with the new consoles.

Unless you're torrenting remuxes, you're not experiencing the same quality.

Edit: Though Spider-Verse is great too, in its own right.

Though Still by far the weakest of the three, Spider-Man 3 (after a recent re-watch) was actually better than I remembered but it's let down by that ~5 or so minutes of footage (you all know what I'm talking about).

Amazing Spider-Man 1/2 are alright, but lack the magic of the Raimi stuff.

Homecoming & Far From Home make for light entertainment but it doesn't feel like Spider-Man. And the bog-standard digital photography along with sterile cinematography just makes it feel dull.

For me, Spider-Man 1 & 2 nailed that golden-hour feeling New York, got the tone right; and feels rich and filmic. Everything is cohesive.

You only seem to care when it's directed at Sony tho

Give me an examples of people being outraged over things like box logos or trivial crap like that on Xbox and I'll happily tell them the same.

I just can't think of the equivalent of gifs of someone pressing the corner of a PS4 to show it can move slightly for Xbox. Or people pissed that the boxes color combination clashes meaning the company is back to being arrogant.

I remember getting Casino Royale by redemption with the PS3 would be good if they did something similar for PS5.

Oddly they will be better on Xbox due to Dolby Vision and Atmos

I could be wrong, but aren't most of those films available to stream in 4k now? Then again I might already own the digital versions of these films already. Can't keep track of them all.

Thread title should of been "Spiderman on XBSX confirmed". 😂

I already have the MCU movies. For what it's worth they are good transfers and a noticable improvement over the Blu-Rays.
Also running on xbox one S ;)

This isn't true at all. Plus if you actually care about 4K, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Vision a 4K blu-ray is the only "REAL" vision of all three of those things.
While that is true, there are not that many people doing this. Most really stream today. Also prices for 4k discs are way to high.

How's buying new big budget movies today? Do you still have to sit through 15 unskippable logos/trailers/menu animations and a bunch of "we will find you and kill you until you die if you copy this movie" messages signed FBI and some other shit?

Your point? The 'cartoon' one is the best one out the 3 lol

Has an actual proper story arc, has an actual ending. It's one of the best Spiderman movies possibly ever, which feels like a disservice to the movie, because Spiderman movies have been a special kind of bad.

Doesn't try to make up for bad actors with worse CGI filler. I find it shocking to see some of the new actors actually ACTING in other non-Marvel movies, it's really jarring that Disney is actually going for shit acting in their movies, or the actor is awful in the first, so they need to keep it going so it looks intentional.

I don't buy any 4K movies unless they are $20 or less. $15 for a movie I like WITH Dolby Atmos is a must buy. But I don't care what most people do, because most people don't care about movie video and sound quality.

It takes about 90 seconds to start a movie from boot up.

2 solid movies and one awesome one.... with one terrible cover. This does make me wonder if Sony is going to smarten up and fold Sony Pictures Content into the PlayStation ecosystem better. No idea what they make leasing their content to third parties (Hulu, Netflix, etc) but they sure have enough content to have their own streaming service. Could be one of the counter moves that MS will have trouble following. PS Ultimate (includes PS+ (which includes Collections), PSNow, AND SMP Movies)

Sony really is getting desperate at this point. Just admit defeat. They have Elder Scrolls 6, Elder Scrolls SIX (skyrim two).

This reminds me of the OG PS3 and its SM-themed font (which was so much better that what we have now IMO)

I like the current font and logo a lot better than something that was clearly recognizable as the Spider-man movie font, which incidentally is also one of the worst fonts for a Spider-man logo ever

You mean like when the "Optimized for XSX" logo discussion in the next gen thread lasted 6-8 pages?

Or the same concerned trolling that the XSX covers were too cluttered.

I have these already digitally but probably a must have for any Spiderman fan that didn't get to see the UHD versions on their PS4. I don't know if I quite understand the PS5 branding here but it'd be cool if it included a skin or something for the MM game.

I'm all digital with my games but only about 20% with my movies and TV shows. Because there's no difference playing a game digitally or playing a game from disc.

However, playing movies digitally means streaming most of the time if you aren't one of the fortunate people that own an expensive kaleidescape system where you can download the 4K UHD's. Streaming or playing from UHD is a huge difference. A good 4K UHD stream is like playing a simple Blu-ray movie at best, you do get HDR though but otherwise it's the quality you get from a regular Blu-ray only video though, audio is maximum a Dolby Digital 5.1 stream.

There's yet no substitute digitally for a UHD disc, so if you want the best without any consessions to audio/video quality you're obliged to get the UHD. It's just a shame they're so expensive, the reason why I only have about 140 of them is because I refuse to pay over 15 bucks for them. Only a handfull of these were over the 15 bucks max I set myself at. I own the Raimi Spiderman trilogy though, to me they are hands down the best Spider-man movies

You are right. It's clear as day how much worse steaming movies are compared to a 4K blu-ray disc.

Lol at something no one has ever said.

If the rami trilogy was bundled together like these newer three are, I would absolutely buy it with my PS5 at launch.

US: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Spider-Man-Limited-Edition-4K-Collection-Blu-ray/188951/
UK/EU: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Spider-Man-Legacy-Boxset-4K-Blu-ray/190555/ (incl. Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2)

;)

Lovely and filmic with rich grain.

Edit: I'd go for the US one if you were to get it (and if you're not too interested in ASM1/2), much cheaper; as the legacy boxset seems to be out of print and really pricey now.
