He's answering questions people send him, but you would complain about anything right? like seriously, can you come up with better bullshit to complain about?

If jeff didnt answer, it would be used to 'prove' some conspiracy theory that Microsoft have paid off these journalists.

The analogy doesn't even work, PS5 has Miles and Demons at launch. Spider-Man is one of the biggest, if not THE biggest IP Sony have. Next Horizon and God of War are also coming within his stipulated time-frame. Tentpole exclusives don't get bigger than that.

Truly bizarre quote.

He's just trying to put things in the best light possible. I'm sure he's not considered a true "journalist" so that's ok. Heck, the way things are now, he MIGHT BE a journalist and still just be spinning his own opinion. Doesn't really matter anymore.

Bottom line though he's wrong about those tentpole games not being ready for PS5. Then again, you can probably make an argument that TECHNICALLY he's not wrong as he's talking about God of War and Horizon.

Is it me or is 4k suddenly no longer important? Honestly it is not important with temporary checkboard. But after 3619 pages of FUD of TFLOPS RESOLUTION and anothes shits, it's funny to hear that. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

they wouldn’t be saying that it wasnt important if the xboxSX U.I. Was native 4k. But since its only outputting 1080p they just damage controlling by saying 4k isnt important.

so much for tHe MoSt PoWeRfuL cOnSoLe EvEr, yet still no exclusive games (regardless if it’s cross platform, cuz I know fanboys like to mention how ps5 has mainly cross gen :messenger_unamused:) to justify it’s purchase.

how is this even possible. the console has a 4 tflops rdna 2.0 gpu. thats like 5 polaris tflops and 6 GCN 1.0 tflops. thats like 4x more power than the base xbox one which runs the game at 1080p 30.

the zen 2 cpu should be able to handle most of the jump to 60 fps. where is the rest of the gpu horsepower going?

whats going here?
I don’t know! And Destiny is not a heavy game on PC, in my mind the XSS should be more than enough to run the game at 1440p60.

It maaaaaaaay be Bungie’s fault, but I just think the 10GB gimped the console. I’ll hold off purchasing the XSS but it’s a fucking shame because it is waaaaay cheaper than the PS5 where I live.

Remember loading screens were not important as well the other day too.

I won't say who said that but he's around somewhere.

The resolution of the interface has very little importance compared to a powerful I / O.
A powerful I / O has a great importance in VRAM management today and even more important in the micropoligon system.

What happens is that it is still very difficult to sell that right now. Although UE5 has already shown it.

So what do we have left to go, i imagine those were not all the UI features.

Like to see some Bc loading times, any other stuff people can think off?
They should just show off 10 minutes of direct feed footage of someone (Shu Yoshida) using the PS5. No commentary.

Just boot the console up, browse the store a bit, then launch Spider-Man Miles Morales and play for a few mins. Hop out to check a trophy or send a message, take a screenshot, etc. Then switch games, play some more.

Show whats its like to use it like a normal user would, but without any explanations. Hell, even go into settings and shit.

Nuts and bolts stuff. Time from cold boot to loaded UI/Game. Time from rest mode to loaded UI/Game. Accessing apps like YouTube - must be smoother and better than Ps4. Ease of typing / voice text. Any integration with stuff like Alexa? Basic background when not on specific game.

Notice it says Switcher, I wonder if this is some sort of multi-game resume functionality?

It sounds like this was just the first of many videos to come on the UI as they mentioned there was much more to share.

Curious if we'll get anything about the AI game assistant or of that is the foundation of some of these features.

Either way I bet we get at least one more of these per week leading up to launch.
Of course it has multi-game resume. If you try to open a game on PS4 with another game running you get a "the following application will close" prompt. On PS5, nothing, the game just switches.
They'll likely make a second video all about multitasking on PS5.

i found this video very interesting today

From around 2.20 you hear him talk about Switcher, the icon he things its Sonys version of quick resume.

i could be wrong but i thought someone says that all stars game took 8 secs to launch from cold boot, i mean what will it be on switcher then, that is frightening :messenger_grinning: .

We got any word on whether we can dump data from a disc to the SSD and not need the disc for authentication.

Logistically would be simple to do.

Put disc in, install it, connects to PSN gets an authenticator token tied to that disc - one time thing. To avoid piracy if you try it again on another system you get "this game had already been transferred" notice.

But the new user can still play the game but with the disc.

I want the digital life without the massive downloads.

Nope. Will need the disc to play the game.

Was the in-game hints revealed from a patent? Can't remember (timestamp)

Yes, this is from June 10th.
.
The patent describes a system which may determine that the user has been repeatedly attempting to overcome a challenge within a particular portion of a game, and decide to provide hints for the current gameplay on the system menu.

Also the Pictute in Picture thing was revealed on a patent

And also the Activities feature.

Well, if the PS5 4k UI is taking up an extra 1GB or even 0.5 GB of space then I will have an issue with it. if the PS5 OS footprint is the same as the x1x's then thats ok.
As I said earlier in this threat, neither will keep a full 4k buffer allocated for the OS when you're playing a game. At least Sony's SSD is so fast, they throw out and load assets as they see fit for the UI. This might be more challenging for the XSX SSD, which might be why they might settle for 1080p UI.

Finally had a chance to watch the UI video (meetings all day) and damn is it sleek and snappy. Hopefully with the cacheing system mentioned it remains this responsive throughout the generation.

The game tips and checklists cards built-in on the system level is brilliant. I'm sure all first party games will leverage this but hopefully it's easy to implement for third parties.

I still need to see more of the party system to make up my mind there but I'm sure it will be fine.

Being able to overlay in PiP your friends games is neat. I wonder if there will be any integrated video chat feature as well?

Also great to see how fast jumping into a new game was that wasn't already loaded but did anyone catch this?

An interesting little detail about the UI video is that when you switch games it doesn't ask for confirmation to close the Sackboy.

If you could only have one game active at a time, it would be logical for it to warn you that you can lose unsaved progress (as it happens on ps4).

Even 8K is a big jump from 4K. When you see them in person it's pretty obvious if you have a healthy vision. 1080p is just too old now, especially for something so simple like UI.

For my 8k it seems very little jump, on a 55 '' 4K screen (LG CX OLED) at a distance of 50-40 cm I am not able to distinguish the pixel. Maybe 5 cm i can see pixel, its a strage distance for play :messenger_grinning_sweat:. Maybe 8k for TV 72'' or up its good.

I don't see the need to keep decreasing the pixel. Use the Tflops better for geometry in the future.
