Getting Older And Switch Is My Vibe

What if I told you Nintendo was never childish it was just you.
I'm sick of this childish ass mentality most of you picked up in middle and high school that if the game isn't M-Rated or devoid of colors you can't be caught dead with it or else people might call you a baby.
I'd like to think most would have outgrown that shit and realized adults can enjoy whatever the fuck they want but I guess not.

I can't play those Nintendo games that have colors in them with engaging simple to grasp, complex to master gameplay on that wimpy little system designed to adapt to peoples lifestyle. "I only pway gwames wit big guns and expwosions and girls with big boobies because I want to be all gwone up"

My god the irony

You don't have to justify wanting Nintendo's games. Games are games there's always something good to enjoy there its people that carry baggage and are in denial.

Off topic, but Nintendo needs to bring more of these 3DS games over to Switch.

It would be nice. That and Metroid Samus Returns would be the top of my list.
In the mean time I wonder how 3DS emulation has progressed.🤔

You know, one of the best things about getting old is you stop giving a fuck. I can now just enjoy what I want and give zero fucks about anyone else's opinions. It wasn't always that way when I was younger. It's fucking liberating.

I can see where you're coming from op, but in my case I mainly play my ps4 since I'm trying to catch up on so many games from last gen and all the RPGs I've bought.

As for grim dark stuff, it depends. I enjoyed rdr2 but have zero interest in call of duty or the last of us.

I really loved Super Mario Odyssey and BOTW, especially BOTW. Not exactly a groundbreaking statement but those are two 10/10 games in my book. I thought Splatoon 2 was awesome as well, but I have not been able to fully get on board with the Switch like so many have. As a handheld it is too big and clunky and as a TV console well, I'd rather just play a game on a regular console.

For me it's a combination of Nintendo's games, eShop indie offerings, and the portability of the Switch -- but it's largely the portability. I no longer have any desire to look up at a television while gaming. I guess it's very lazy, but there it is.

Nintendo needs to establish a next gen console asap if they want respect from gamers that they think they deserve.

I hear you OP. Sold my PS4 pro and 1X cause MOST of the experiences felt stale.

Highlights this gen outside of Switch were Watchdogs, Witcher 3, Infamous Second Son, Death Stranding, and Detroit

Same here. I love the switch! Only issue I have is I’m 99% sure none of the games I buy for it will transfer to the next Nintendo console.
I think they will, they're sticking with Nvidia, the next version is likely to be faster version of this one.

why? They have respect from people who actually buy and enjoy their games. Why do they need to cater to those who do nothing but bitch and moan about things like resolution and frame rate instead of actually, you know...playing and enjoying games?

I get great fun from realistic or semi-realistic games, more than any silly looking game that nintendo can put out.

This narrative that only nintendo games are fun is the biggest bullshit ever sir.

Collecting coins and jumping platforms is not inherently more fun than any other videogame activities in other games, it's just a matter of taste.
Throwing people out of the stage in smash bros is not inherently more fun than any other classic beat em up.
Collecting pokemon is not inherently more fun than collection loot in a loot game.

Etc.

I didn’t say that. My point was that some games focus on the wrong things instead of being fun, which is sad.

Never liked 'adult' games as they're almost always aimed at teenagers and I was already too old for them when they first started appearing. I mean, no adult should be saying with a straight face that Call of Duty, GTA or Halo is a game for adults. They're squarely aimed at teenagers and while there's nothing wrong with that, it's not my cup of tea.

A funny thing - the people shitting on Nintendo gamers are a pretty intolerant bunch, while most of us Nintendo types are pretty chilled, probably because we're typically multi-device. For instance, I have 2 gaming PCs (one with a Rift) and a Switch. I enjoy some grown-up PC masterrace stuff, but the Switch has had all my attention since I got it (barring iRacing). The Switch fills a niche that nobody else does - the mile-wide shit-eating grin I had during Odyssey, the chilled-out joy of exploration in BOTW, you just don't get those moments anywhere else. The other guys are angry about competition because PC/Xbox/PS is ultimately pretty interchangeable, so they're all eating each other's lunch, while the Switch is its own thing. It's probably this - the Switch simply not viewing those other machines as competition because they're not in the same space, that makes the Nintendo lot so chilled.

Not even a 4k option for Switch ruins it for me. Nintendo is always so far behind the competition. It wouldn't surprise me if their next console doesn't support 4k. Because it's Nintendo.

Dude you are literally saying what i was saying.

You can't judge other games less fun just because you think they are less fun.

People loved killing dudes in violent ways in manhunt, was it less fun because it's not a nintendo game?? Fuck no.

Everyone has different meanings of fun, i got extremely bored of killing retarded samey enemies with a shitty design in zelda botw but i loved fighting dinobors in horizon, the supposedly serious game...

This narrative is bullshit, even semi-realistic stealth and shooting in tlou2 can be as fun as buying a fucking house in animal crossing or collecting stars in mario, it's all subjective.

Some people love cg pixar movies and some people love gory horror, it's called having different tastes.

Maybe they focus on wrong things for your taste, not for everyone taste.

yeah, because most people don’t give a fuck about 4K. You aren’t the target audience for Nintendo, and that’s ok. Not everything has to be for everyone.
I used to be. Back when Ninty had balls. Now they just get by on gimmicky underpowered consoles.

I really feel like Switch is the natural evolution of gaming for most of us. As we get older, at least as I get older, I find that we have much less uninterrupted time with the best TV in the house. Whenever I really get on a kick playing a certain game, I feel like I have to be careful not to deprive others of the TV. Because I will, and because they will let me. It's just not who or how I want to be. Switch is almost perfect in that regard because when someone else wants to play on the TV or watch something, I don't feel deprived of my game. It's the same for trips or visits to extended family where I don't feel like I'm being cut off from my games when I'm out of town for several days.

I agree that Nintendo needs to be ready to refresh the hardware and offer improved and/or updated experiences, but in terms of what the Switch offers currently I can totally understand anyone who has suddenly discovered that this is the gaming experience that molds to your lifestyle as opposed to your lifestyle having to conform to gaming. All the CoD's and Battlefields and such are fine, and I would even like to see them on Switch more, but they're just not for me and not my cup of tea. I'm not the dedicated type who is going to grind at these games. I've only got room in my life for one sport like that.

What kinds of games do you enjoy? Switch has something for almost everyone. There was even a point where I was hesitant to buy Civilization VI on Switch for fear that it would be severely gimped in some way, but it's really not. That has really become one of my big time wasters in fact, and I'm glad it's not stuck on my PC anymore.

Your usual “realistic” game is “totally believable human being does unbelievable things like killing thousands of men and kicking aliens thrice his size in the groin but can’t climb a tree or jump over a waist-high wall because of reasons”.

BOTW: FUCK YEAH YOU CAN CUT DOWN TREES WITH A SINGLE SWORD SLICE! FREEZE TIME, HIT A BOULDER A DOZEN TIMES, CLIMB ON IT, THEN UNFREEZE TIME AND BOOM! YOU’RE A MILE AWAY IN SECONDS!”

The race for realism is its own worst enemy. The more you can do in a realistic setting, the more you notice what you can’t do. I appreciate more symbolic games where you can’t do a lot, but what you can do is very clear and you don’t have to regret what the tech still can’t allow you to do.

This is a broad generalization, of course. Just play what you enjoy, as usual

I'm not even sure if you are with me or against me on this one :ROFLMAO:

But i have no problem if i can't jump a wall in gow because the game is designed in that way, there are a lot of open world games where you can do whatever you want, some more stricted games are not bad at all, before botw, every zelda game had walls that you can't jump, did they were crap because of that??

Well I have all the other consoles, so I dont want a multiplat game. I wish they would do a Civ Revolution again, CIV VI and those are too complex for me.
I like platformers and simple action rpgs. I played Luigis Mansion and Mario Ody and Zelda so far.

Have you played Into the Breach?

It is simple in the fact there are less systems to manage but difficult in its tactical play.

Mario 3D Collection.

If you enjoy platformers and mindless 15 minute bursts of play, Super Mario 35 is free to play and I get a good kick out of making the top 3 a lot of the time. It's basically Super Mario Bros. online against 34 other players.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is definitely a very fun high quality RPG. It's not turn-based at all. Very jRPG though.

Jump into the Nintendo discussion thread. There's a couple of posters in there who are obsessed with owning and playing every game released on Switch. I'm sure they can point you to a great action rpg to play as well.

I generally like more AAA games but I will look into it. I need to expand my scope

Ah ok, fair enough. I love strategy rpg games but those are different than Civ. I would suggest if you possibly like games like advance wars to check out Into the Breach. Some other games that go a little more insane and might not be your cup of tea but have higher production values is the Mario Rabids games, Disgaea, Valkaria Chronicles, Fire Emblem. These are grid based though and focus on battles and not resource management like Civ does. I do think though that Civ VI is really worth getting into even if it seems daunting. It would be awesome if they made another Civ Revolutions but I don't know if they will.

Check out the Nintendo thread those people play and critique everything.

But i have a switch, and this is not an exclusive switch topic for circle jerking, some people still prefer other console even while getting more old, the OP was asking to other members how they feel.

Posting a retarded meme doesn't help you argument, but i guess it wasn't really a solid one to begin with...

So the OP likes grating and non-sensical "boop boop" noises for a voice because Nintendo is to cheap to hire voice actors for their blurry textures and low poly games as opposed to hearing Laura Bailey's voice over and over again. That makes sense. Awwwwwwrighty then!
Having "boop boop" noises makes localisation of your title a lot easier when releasing in foreign territories.

Just ask Pingu.

That they are a shadow of what they used to be.

They are better than they used to be. They rule gaming right now. They are the only company besides Apple that can announce something 2 weeks before release and have it sell like gangbusters, while the “hardcore gamerz” are ready to suck dick for GPU’s that aren’t even available, or bitching because a UI isn’t 4K. Get real bruh. You can choose to be delusional but that’s on you.

This is not a switch circle jerking topic and the post you quoted wasn't even about me not liking switch.

You and other people always post retarded gifs\meme when someone doens't like nintendo way or their games because they think they are childish (last example the botw vs mgs5 topic), you people really like nintendo, we get it, how is that different than me posting my disappointement?

again dude, i don't wanna be rude or fight over videogames if i can avoid that.

Switch library is like two of my favorite consoles mashed together, Wii + DS. I think Nintendo's only major stumble is the joycon issues, which are infuriating.

Our household has multiple 3DSs (5, I think?) because of all the DS and 3DS games in the family. Switch will end up being that way. My kids are patiently waiting for their own Switch Lite (maybe next year...) and if Nintendo does a mid-gen Pro refresh, I'd happily buy it.
