2077 is not as ambitious.
Not if you buy the PS4 version for like $50 on Amazon and play it on your PS5will Cyberpunk on PS5 be 70 frikkin bux like Demon Souls is?
I didn't think anyone on here is still buying into Star ScamtizenCyberPunk will probably join The Witcher 3 as one of the very best games ever made. On the other hand I'm surprised a place like Gaf is still more or less touting Star Citizen.
amazon doesn't sell digital copies and its 2020Not if you buy the PS4 version for like $50 on Amazon and play it on your PS5
Ok, now I get it. You guys just think "ambitious" means "bigger map"
Honestly rather than a scam, Star Citizen seems like some kind of money laundering or trafficking operation. Very rich people have given them a ton of money, and continue to do so. You would think they would realize they were scammed a long time ago. What are they really buying?
Nobody is talking about feelings, but the fact that you are so hung up on that, and using virtual space for the sole metric of how ambitious something is, and the tone of your posts, makes it clear you've got some "feelings" you need to work out before replying to someone.Your feelings
Then according to you Star Citizen has nothing on No Man's Sky or Elite Dangerous because their universes are way way more massive than Star Citizen.Nope. I believe "equally massive" is literally referring to the size of the games being "equal". They factually are not.
R Reizo Ryuu "A bunch of planets generated by code, that are populated by prefabs isn't, by default, more "massive or ambitious" than something carefully crafted by hand" Yes it is bud, it will factually be more "massive" as in the fucking size is much more extreme then 1 city.
You feelings on what is made by "hand" has zero relevance to actual size of each game.
1 is about 1 city
1 is about an entire galaxy.
Your feelings on how that was made, if it was by hand etc is irrelevant. 1 game is FACTUALLY larger then the other, the thing its doing isn't normal and is not done by many games, if any to my knowledge that has ever even pulled that off.
A fucking city "made by hand" isn't brand new, its not a new concept to even remotely be acting as if a revolution has been started because "crafted by hand". Thats nice...most games are. That isn't a brand new concept bud. The fact that you can even reference AC Unity proves this isn't a brand new concept though....

You never stated it except here...
You are telling that procedural generation - scattering of assets to create bland, empty areas equals more ambition than handcrafting an entire city.
Well, good thing then I never gave my opinion on what I "like" or not, but a factual is this your favourite word?statement on the difference in effort and techniques made between something that's auto-generated, to something that's been curated. Which is why the Notre Dame is something that was extremely ambitious to replicate by hand. Star citizen's approach to making "a notre dame", would be to take something like the google earth data mapping data for it, subdivide and optimise the mesh a bit and finish it with a bunch of nice looking textures. No one is asking your opinion on if you like how one is done vs the other.

Ubi could've done that and called it a day, but instead they had a single artist work on a single building for as long as entire games get made.
For something to be "ambitious", it's not about whether it has never been done or whether it can't be real, so if you believe in that definition, your perception of reality is skewed.
Something is ambitious when it's difficult to achieve; Notre dame was ambitious, Cyberpunk's curated world is ambitious, a "large auto-generated virtual space" is not by definition more ambitious.
Different jobs like go trash this rock for few seconds, pick up minerals and go sell them? Or go kill this randomly spawned ship and collect a reward? Such ambition, It's unreal. I can't wait for their repair job of "hold multi tool at this damaged spot to repair". You talk about that kind of ambition? Aliens? You mean like CP has uniqely designed and crafted gangs with members?Good thing its doing more then just that.
Like.. economies, aliens, different jobs, wars, planets...

Yeah the devs even said The Witcher 3 has more content still.2077 is not as ambitious.

Pretty hilarious for you to assume these are some insane killer app features, when every MMO from 2004 and onwards has those server side automated features, even 2003's Freelancer had a persistent virtual galaxy for 128 players .Good thing its doing more then just that.

Squadron 42 and Star Citizen are the victims of scope creep. The scope of the project changed the moment there wasn't just success, but overwhelming success. As the game has bread success raising money the ambition has continued to grow. In fact they restarted development on a new engine. I mean that is one way to burn up a lot of money. Moving from the CryEngine to Lumberyard set back development. I am a fan of Wing Commander, and I want more Wing Commander. Chris Roberts games have always been fun to me and I want to play another one. But he like Caesar is ambitious. The game being released is a victim of its own success in raising money.
SQ42 is all I really want out of the project. But they just seem to have never made as much progress as they promised to make. With development that is fairly normal. I do wander if they are using an AGILE development approach, as I assume that would make the most sense for this type of project. Another factor is having so many studios spread out, probably does not help streamline the development. And they will delay some more, due to Covid. It is a built in excuse and they will use it.
Just my thoughts on Star Citizen. I sound like a Roberts apologist, but I am not trying to be,
