It "works" because Xbox has more next gen only games announced than Sony despite them "believing in generations".
You talking about trashware and games announced for 2022? Get out of here with this shit.

All these where making exclusive PS games before... that what he meant it grew with PS.Organic growth?
The only grassroots Sony studios making big games are PD with Gran Turismo and Sony Santa Monica with God of War.
Every other big franchise comes from a studio they bought the past.

Calling games that aren't released and you haven't played yet "trashware". You must be a joy.You talking about trashware and games announced for 2022? Get out of here with this shit.

How is buying an anime streaming service related to acquiring development shops? How is it not related?
Organic growth?

How’s that PS4 exclusive sunset overdrive? That's organic growth. They worked with those companies FOR YEARS, before buying them. They had close relationships with them. ND, MM, Guerrilla, and Insomniac for literal years had only made Playstation games before being bought. That's the point.
But of course you already knew that. :-/

Do you realize that he was talking about incorporating studios close to PlayStation... just like Insomniac. To incorporate it you need to buy it.Organic growth?

Don't be too hard on yourself. Sony makes a killing milking fanboys of their spare dollars. Anime fans are another channel for that.Because I'm an idiot who can't read apparently.
Yes, clearly no difference between those and Bethesda
And how many more Xbox's will owning Bethesda sell? How many more Gamepass users? And how many other games will those users who wouldn't be in the ecosystem sell? How many MTX?i mean, it's not like that $7 billion will be easy to make back. Microsoft has to be praying that people still play videogames in the year 2040
much like with Star Wars, people seem to forget that just owning a big IP and even making billions of dollars doesn't mean it will be profitable for a long time. they spent $7 billion just buying the companies. then they still have to fund the companies and fund game development (and later market the games). so add that to the $7 billion. Fallout 5. Starfield. ESVI. these titles alone with cost billions. throw all that money on the pile as well. how many copies of Skyrim 2 do they need to sell to break even?
not that Microsoft is hurting for money necessarily. but still. im not surprised at this take.
So the same way as MS worked closely with Bethesda/Zenimax since X360, so I think it's safe to say it was an organic acquisition then.
And how many more Xbox's will owning Bethesda sell? How many more Gamepass users? And how many other games will those users who wouldn't be in the ecosystem sell? How many MTX?
And how much does Bethesda earn yearly on games already developed whose only costs to MS would be incredibly low?
There's a lot more math involved than "must make money back on game sales that they will have to fund." They also bought a ton of technology, game engines, likely patents, etc. idTech for instance.
Having a twenty year mostly exclusive game relationship with a studio before acquiring them wouldn't make it an arbitrary rule. Just common sense.Tell me, why does that even matter? Where does this arbitrary made up rule come in? They still made an Xbox exclusive just a few years ago so your point is invalid.
Did you know it was Xbox that helped Bethesda get their games on console in the first place?
Do your homework and learn some history.
It's definitely a long term purchase and it's a "strategic" one as well; which means they didn't sit and count how they'll make their money back directly as that's impossible to tell when you are making a "platform" more robust.I think that's the point the other poster was saying. And those are great questions you asked also. At the end of the day $7Billion is ALOT of money and it's not going to be easy to make that "NET" that back. It's possible MS is looking at that purchase as a 10+ year investment, where they don't even imagine making that money back until the year 2030.
Japan Studio, San Diego and London are working on major games I believe.Organic growth?

They believe cloud gaming will be huge and they want to be one of the big players when it takes off. They honestly kind of had a series of nobody studios before they bought Zenimax.. this was necessary for them.
Granted I think they've miscalculated how popular cloud streaming is going to be, but that's a different convo.
Title is right ....wait the title doesnt correspond with the contents of the OP
or am i being crazy
I dont get posts like this, it's like you expect time to stop or somethingYou’re talking about CGI trailers for games coming in 2022.
The meme is worthless. The whole pitch for XSX this year is BC...
yes, there is a difference.
One publisher publishes on multiple devices, so even after years the devices are no longer in production you can still play the game (=> PC) and the other makes only exclusives (with a few exceptions in the current year).
You can also see it this way, Sony buys a studio after the studio itself has successfully implemented new IPs on the market at their own risk. And when they are successful enough and get money problems (because the projects are to big (like AAA titles tend to) to lift it themselves, they buy the studio at a cheap price.
Same result, different view
Is that not Sony’s motto? Show games and then don’t release them until the generation is almost over? You talking about trashware and games announced for 2022? Get out of here with this shit.

Yep! Also, how many of them are Scalebound and Phantom Dust like?'Announced' has always been the problem with MS while Sony just delivered. I really hope things do change this gen.
