Ah , I'd almost forgotten about those guys. Used the freak me out. Looking forward to being freaked out in 4K.

Has anyone else watched the WD XSX video on a 4k TV yet? Is there noticeable aliasing in multiple scenes, or is that shitty compression? It doesn't look like video artifacting to me, but I want to make sure.

Thanks for posting these. That gif is absolutely awesome. Can't wait to play this game.
I wasn’t go to get this, I have to admit, I don’t usually like super hard games. But I may have to make an exception for this game.

I can’t stop watching this crazy gif.

Xbox Series X confirmed footage.

Meh It looks ok. Tbh I haven't been excited about any Ubisoft game in a very long time and I feel this is just a bit too close to Cyberpunk while not looking nearly as impressive.
I did find it funny that right as the lead programer was saying "this tech also gives you a more seamless world traversal experience, especially when driving at high speeds" there was a pretty obvious LOD change of the bridge assets in the boat scene.

Does anyone know what engine watchdogs is built on? I'm not familiar with any of Ubi's game engines other than the fact their games never tend to be optimized well.
Nevermind it's built on their proprietary Disrupt engine.

I think you are vastly underestimating the difference in budget for a remake vs a game from scratch.

Yep, with a remake you are completely bypassing the entire stages of prototyping gameplay and having to figure out what the hell kind of game it is you're even making. That can sometimes be half of the total development cycle of a big AAA release.

But I think a lot of people get confused with all the terms due to the alliteration. I mean they're all "R" words for crying out loud!

Remaster
Remake
Reboot
Reimagining

And they are all vastly different. Well I would say Reboot and Reimagining are basically the same.

Remaster - is an old audio term used to describe mastering a track in a higher quality than before. Lowest level of effort. This is often the exact same game just with a couple nobs turned to enable higher resolution and frame rates. Occasionally they get higher quality assets or textures if they already existed.
Remake - It's almost the same exact thing but made over again. Medium to high level of effort. When a remaster just won't cut it because the assets are just that low poly. Just about everything is made from scratch but the game still feels the same, and since you have the blueprint of the original there isn't as much trial and error here.
Reboot/Reimagining - Taking the general themes, plot, or characters and creating something entirely new. Highest level of effort. This is essentially just below creating a new IP only because you already have an idea about the type of gameplay and lore to serve as your foundation.

Bloodborne on PS5? Well, we know it will run on it.

Question is has it been enhanced? Has it received any random "bug fix" updates recently?

Could be a game getting a PS5 upgrade or patch, though. Seems its one of the few games where thats worth keeping on lock for a bit to drum up hype.. I dunno.

In the game informer video interview the director mentions that they have the original demons souls running on a PS5 for comparison/testing purposes. I really hope they release this at some point, i mean i know everyone would rather play the remake but it would be nice to go back to the original for fun. I always hoped the original wouldnt be trapped on the PS3 forever.

Ehmm what? They have the PS3 version running on the PS5???

This 100%. A lot of people seems to get these terms mixed up. The people calling Demon's Souls a remaster don't seem to understand this. Sure, they're building off of what was originally there, but every asset is new and was created for this game. They even made new versions of all of the music, and hunted down as many of the original voice actors to redo lines.

Grand Theft Auto V is a good example of a remaster. It started on PS3, then the exact game was ported over to PS4 with improved graphics and framerate. That's usually the extent of what a remaster is. We'll most likely get a next gen remaster of RDR2.

Demon's Souls is a remake. It is 100% recreated from the ground up with brand new assets. It's the same idea as the Crash and Spyro remakes. If Demon's Souls was a remaster, it wouldn't be the system seller that it is right now. Most people would just be like "Oh, cool! I'll have to pick that up at some point".

And that’s not even the graphics mode! This is just the BEGINNING! 60fps Just wow
Bluepoint is playing it real smart here. I don't know if this is true, but from what I've seen it looks like they've only shown off performance mode. Get them hooked on how the game looks and runs at 60, then smack'em in the face with cinema mode. Maybe they don't show the game off at all in cinema mode and wait for it to be released for everyone to find out on their own. Could also be there's not much of a difference between the two modes so they focus on how it runs on performance. I dunno.

In the meantime, I've tempered my excitement. With the way the PS5 is being gobbled up, I won't get my hands on one till next year. Guess that gives me time to see if any new televisions at CES 2021 will be worth waiting for.

Did you use your cupboard as firewood and you're left with just a single draw, what's going on there. :messenger_heart:

Lol, that is just the wife's crazy decorating style, she is in charge of decorating, I am in charge of my office, garage and all electronics setups, so she can't complain if I decide to throw the PS5 on top of the TV stand to show it off!

Its the best stock controller I have used, most premium feeling anyhow.

Most definitely, I thought it wouldn't be as comfortable as the Dualshock 4, but I feel it is even more comfortable and the build quality is even better, super premium feeling! Love it! Just have it charging now so it has a full charge when Nov 12th gets here!

Sorry I'm under strict NDA entitled "Common Sense" ;)

So, no idea then?

Oh, Pun.... :lollipop_pensive:

Here’s what they had to do for the remake:

re-record all music
Re-record all dialogue
Re-record all sound effects
Recreate every existing asset
Create new assets
Create new animations
Create new modes
Create new textures
Create new lighting
Make it all run at 4K / 60fps

...and that’s off the top of my stupid head.

Three year production schedule.

I bet this cost as much as a lot of brand new games to make.

And I bet the put as much work into Demons Souls as they would on a new game too.

Dont think it’s really fair to dismiss all of that as being less than making a new game.

While I cannot fucking wait to use the DualSense, I do kinda hate that I'll be losing my back buttons (at least until Sony ether comes out with another attachment, an elite style controller, or I pick up a new Battlebeaver).

Game costs are all over the map, as are their scope.. so sure, some new games probably had similar budget.

But this cost a fraction of what it would take to make a next-gen open world game in it's style. Likely a fraction of a typical Sony project, as their games tend to have a large scope. It's just basic logic. Don't know why you are getting hung up on something so obvious.

Making a copy of something is far cheaper than making an original work of the same scope and quality.
