Open invitation! I'm inviting ALL devs on Gaf, even better pretty much anyone that can do music, graphics and code.
We will remake Metal Gear Solid and IntentionalPun IntentionalPun will be the Manager/Producer. He said it's really easy. We should use Unreal and port to phones as well.

/s
I never said it was really easy... you guys are so pointlessly defensive over this.

Come on man, it's a joke. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I could have elaborated and said that "we could sell it for 20 bucks, since the worst part is already made, and shouldn't cost much to make the rest".

We are just poking at what you said, is all.

Who needs Mjolnir, Kratos already has Leviathan! Best weapon in any game ever for me.

I love variety in weapons and mouvements.

And yeah Leviathan is amazing i love it so much, the fact they managed to make a weapon that i love at least as much as blades of chaos is quite something. Cause it really wasn't something easy to do in paper.

Why are you poking at what I said? I'm right. Have any sort of argument at all?

Or just being weirdly defensive.. and making up more shit that has nothing to do with what I said like that $20 comment.

I think it is bloodborne in the UI.
Maybe i'm thinking too much into this, but Bluepoint as said that they are working in this remake for three years, that is the time to make a AAA game more or less nowadays, but for a remake i think is too much.

Then i remenber this tweet were they say "A symphony of rumors - not one, but two" maybe in this three years they make two remakes and not one.....they may be saving a surprise from us.

Geez I believe we already discussed this for long enough? I just entered the joke train.
My arguments were already made. Not planning to continue with the discussion (I believe it's kinda pointless now).

I'm not planning on derailing the thread any longer.
Some mods are sensitive to it. :messenger_anxious:
Believe me, I know.

Oh that's right we agreed to disagree... *shrug* Not gonna not defend myself when someone mocks me and puts words in my mouth so whatever. "just jokes" is one way to put that I guess lol

Bloodborne is playable on PS5, on day 1. Its part of PS Plus Collection. We just don't know if it will play any better than on PS4.

I know, but the guy who I quoted was talking about enhancements. A remaster I would believe it, but patching the current game? Don’t believe it

I hope he's just referring to general support (just like they always offered ~10yrs of "support" for prior consoles). If God Of War onwards goes cross-gen, I don't think I'm even gonna bother next year. They're about to release a console with a fundamental shift in capabilities when it comes to the function and design of games (by way of the SSD and CPU). If they don't intend to take advantage of it outside of Ratchet 'n' Clank, then I'm frankly not all that interested.

Sure but we have no idea if boost mode could stabilize its frame rate. I agree it will not get patched by From Software, but who knows if Sony just have Japan Studio patch it some day. Might not be doable tho, given its frame issues are engine level flaws.

Many rumors say Bloodborne is being remastered and ported to PC, which I bet is true, but they will definitely sell the remaster again for like $40. It will not be free.

I think part of why Bloodborne is free on PS5 via PS Plus is so they can then put out a paid remaster as its own release, and sell it on PC too.

PS4 Pro was locked 30fps with boost mode, the problem is not framerate, is the bad framepacing on From games.

I know, I said its frame (pacing) issues are engine level flaws. So I assume it would take a lot of work to patch / fix that.

PS4 Pro still had plenty of dips from what I played. It never ran well for me.

PS5 will likely be the same. But it seems inevitable that Sony will port it to PC and who knows if that version will be fixed.

Xbox fans going to pretend they never saw this after all that gloating for them to both be upscaled LOL

I get it; I just wasn't really thinking about the difference in terms.

My point is it's far cheaper to make either way than a game from scratch. Remaster or remake the actual game is fully designed, levels, characters, etc.

They had a thorough blueprint but still had to make it from scratch. Ya know, the part that takes up like, I dunno, say 95% of all the work.

They even redid the graphics. And I'm no graphic designer but I can imagine that creating something from scratch, from a vague description of the designers is perhaps easier than having to keep the look of the originals and redo them.

Why are you guys so defensive over something so obvious? lol

Probably because it's not so obvious to them.

Or for me, as I said, most time goes into coding the game from scartch and making the graphic assets...

A design that's for sure not going to change during the project nor needing rebalancing stuff saves time but not all that much. Budget will still have been rather high, close to any other made from scratch game...

So it's not being defensive, it's just trying to make you see the raytraced lights! 😀

My goodness, the game loads instantly.

Can't work out if that's enough time to ask someone to "hold my beer", and actually pass it to them.

Great stuff, and good to see Cerny vindicated.

I wonder if old issues between Sony and Nintendo will stop Nintendo from paying for an IO complex in their next console. Something tells me they'll be putting this at the top of their list of features and cleaning the slate.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or is of any relevance, but the guy in the video is speaking Norwegian. Might be interesting for us North Europeans to know there are PS5's out "in the wild" in our area as well (Of course it might just be a Norwegian wherever in the world).

Apparently the footage is 1440p.
Edit: Which doesn't make much sense, the One X/Pro versions are higher res (but no RT).
Yup, probably dynamic 4K that can go as low as 1440p.

By "a design" you mean every level, the enemy encounters, the enemies themselves and their behaviors, bosses and their behaviors, the combat mechanics and how they should work, the leveling systems, the weapons and armor that exist and what their stats are, any story elements, any missions and what they are. And all of those things had to be conceptualized and then iterated over at various stages, and a whole lot of things scrapped. Basically everything about the "game" is now something to copy and make an amazing looking version of.. which is by no means super cheap, but it's a totally different kind of project with definitely a smaller budget than all of the above. And sure they'd have iterated over some re-designs too.. but when the entire goal is a faithful recreation a huge portion of the overall process is just crossed out. Reducing all of that to what you just said like "rebalancing stuff" is just insanely reductive; and you seem to just be completely forgetting that it's not just a design that doesn't change... it's a design that this project didn't have to pay for, just copy.

I totally get that it's a lot more than a remaster though. Potentially one of the more expensive remakes ever.. not that there's that many lol To go to the extent they did is impressive.

A brand new game trying to break new ground with a new IP is also more expensive than a sequel.. they all cost the same price generally either way and I'm not complaining. We have games with budgets all over the map all releasing for what we consider "full price" and there's nothing wrong with any of it.

I'm happily paying $70 because it's an awesome product, regardless of it's relative cost to anything else.

Guys serious post here for a second.

When you get a chance, please have a look at this post.

The Dualsense PS5 controller is using voice coils as it's rumble, and Sony has them mapped to surround L/R.

Cerny was right, the normal vibration is over, if you don't program it, the remote will use the audio to reproduce the vibration.

This is great news because on PC and PS4 (BC) games it also seems to work according to a Spanish gaming magazine.

Xbox Series X confirmed footage.

Obviously, it looks sharp - IMO in an Ultra settings this-gen tech way - but when the developer used the term "Ray tracing tech" I immediately clocked the term as potential word-speak as the "tech" part sounds like substitution techniques for RT, with a bit of real-time RT.

From then on I naturally found myself trying to decompose the fx in the video. So when they specifically mention "ray traced reflections" and also using cubemaps - loading faster with the xbox VA, iirc - that seemed a little contradictory to RT, becuase Cubemapping is frequently used for giving the illusion of real-time RT reflections.

At closer inspection the image in the video feels most impressive with reflections/fx in moments when the game is non-interactive just before it hands control back to the player, and then a lot of the image looks crisp, but lacking advanced lighting (IMO), and even a bit underwhelming from a lack of mutli-texturing layers on brickwork, etc , and some of the geometry looking a bit too pristine and regular, as though it doesn't belong in the world they are trying to convey and suspend disbelief with - so artistically the game needs more irregularity and noise in motion and despite looking sharp is a little below AAA, IMO.

Hard to Kill
Alright each side had a stab at eachother about 4K... Can we now agree that upscaled or dynamic 4K is fine as long as the image looks clean ?
Can we be happy about next gen coming and stop this dick measuring contest ?
Every insiders with credibility said both consoles were very close in power and a few pixels of difference are really that important ?
If we could all just stop those stupid gotcha moments and focus on simple news without warring at the simple news, maybe we could avoid lots of bans.
