I must say I can't wait to play No Man's Sky on the next-gen, that game deserves it considering the work they put in and its update for PS5/XSX.

Things looking pretty good for XSX, hopefully we get some more info about games running on PS5 as well.

Yeah, I held off on NMS for the longest. That next-gen trailer really piqued my interest. Ordered a pre-owned copy, so we'll give it a shot!

I think that Xbox Quick Resume is going to be more problematic than it's worth. I will only make sure to switch to another game when I am sure the current one has saved or else it could end up getting trashed and your progress will be lost.

It doesn’t work like that way. If you have any experience with virtual machines, you’ll know how suspend works.

I'd be surprised if it didn't have some form of quick resume, even if it's not like the one used on Xbox.
To me there's 2 options:

- Sony is using a hypervisor like MS did on Xbox One and is presumably doing on Xbox Series
- Sony doesn't have quick resume

Sony did have a hypervisor on PS3 that they used for the Linux mode, but it was removed once they removed that.. and some of that implementation was responsible for hacks.

Totally in the realm of possibility that Sony re-introduced a hypervisor for whatever reason and thus can have quick resume. But if they didn't, then.. they don't have it. There is no "other way" to do this that isn't some insanely over-engineered managed memory system that is about as anti-Sony as it gets.

Quick resume is literally like having a pc suspend on you so it doesn't really need to save, it's gets a bit weird when you quick resume back into a game after playing on another platform/console. I would like them to try and figure out if they could implement cloud save states but thats basically somehow sync-ing 16GB files constantly which feels impossible.

With my comment about Quick Resume - I'm referring to the Reddit poster

Last game I had open was NMS, just loaded up Hitman2, can't really say it loaded quicker but anyway. Switched back to NMS and the Quick Resume has been lost. So had to wait for it to load normal.

So for some unknown reason, Quick Resume for their instance of No Man's Sky failed to load. Therefore any unsaved progress would have been lost.

Wonder what mode he was on in NMS and whether there is NMS single player mode is constantly pinging a server and that got disconnected. I think Dev's might have to start thinking about this and kinda want them to.

It's the exact same thing from a dev perspective as coming back from a system resume.

The game would still load you right where you last were, but then you'd see it disconnecting if it couldn't re-sync.. it wouldn't load like a cold start if it had actual quick resume... unless the quick resume data was just lost or deleted.

Actually yeah, I know one of Alanah's Quick Resume crash was related to a game update. It's a weird bug for now.

So was that leaker guy from last night fake? that mario boy leaking stuff in a discord?
Looked real enough.. but the guy probably got a retail unit early, hence why he wasn't signing in to PSN... and who knows how accurate some random leaker who probably stole a retail unit from work is gonna be lol

Don't worry people the information is coming, it will flood the lot of us.

Talking of floods, something to cheer people up with.

So a bunch of cheerleaders who barely remember to breathe in order to stay alive, Carly Rae Jepsen... this sounds like depression to me, mate.

Is it because no news about the PS5 or about the presidential race of our neighbors across the pond?

Probably all of the above, waiting is a cruel game.

Doing some writing atm, listening to some music, and waiting for the hook to drop so i can snap at it.

How fast was GTA V compared to before?
You can see it here: (click next to see more, or click in to get to the gallery)

Gallery link.

Personally think the leaker is someone who stole it from work though and is kind of a bullshitter in geneeral. Made some dumb statement about faceplates coming out in a month... acting like they were some legit source, but I have my doubts.

Isn't NMS an always online game by default?

That could probably be why, it disconnects from server. Same if you tried it for the RDO or Destiny 2, etc. currently.

Ok, first time posting here and I don't know if this was already asked but, from what we've seen from games so far, what current PC GPU is equivalent to Xbox Series S one? I don't care about raytracing at all specially at that level of performance

There is no equivalent yet.
We need to have air AMD announce for RDNA 2 mid and low-end cards to find out.

But if I have to guess around RX 580... probably a bit weaker than that one.

I expect a major improvement when they patch in the enhancements next year. I hope RDR2 gets the same treatment as well, which it should.
Yeah I wouldn't be shocked to see Spiderman MM like loading.. at least for asset loading I suspect Rockstar can match what Sony does, since Rockstar really are some of the top people behind asset streaming tech. It's still mindblowing that GTA V came out on 360/PS3 (and RDR 2 likely could be ported to them.) If there's a difference in loading between a game like MM and Rockstar I imagine it boils down to processing that is done and not asset loading.

Thanks for the reply.

What about some cards being in the same ballpark withour RT? I don't want to wait for AMD announce them, then wait for release, then wait for it being available in my region at a good price, I'd like to know if I'd rather get a console or a card for my PC to play all current gens games I haven't yet (a card for the next 2 to 3 years or so)

A bit weaker than RX 580 I guess... maybe on RX 480 level.

Edit - Actually the RX 5300 said below is a better fit.

About Radeon RX 5300. With only 10GB of ram and only 364GB of SSD space. It's not a good value at all and is going to be obsolete already at launch with games running at 720p-1080p on that machine.
