What genre you cannot stand and why?

I've just discovered that there are some genres in gaming that one simply cannot get into despite trying really hard and not matter how bad it's recommended to you.

Some genres you could not like too much but there could be a game that still sucks you in. For example, I don't like the Rogue-like genre. Maybe because I find them "too repetitive" or that I don't like the randomess of it. However I really liked Hades lately.

However some genres are a no go for me, like JRPGs. I don't know why, but I just cannot stand the Japanese obsession to make cringy stories with edgy adolescent boys.
Or TBS games, like the 4x ones, where I just fell asleep from the slow pacing that these games have.

So what are your no-go games genre(s) that you simply cannot get into?

Hmm, I'm not really "against" any genres, but there are some that I simply don't have much interest in.

Visual novels / adventure games and story-driven games in general have definitely gotten "too repetitive" in recent years. I'll go with those.

I like some interesting actve combat with decent narrative, mixed in with some multiplayer when in the mood.

Also done with 2D and isometric view games since amiga, so I need full 3D worlds either 3rd or first person weher its more impactful.

So it rules out turn based combat, slow strategy and games like the sims or animal crossing for sure and 90% of indie.

For the most part I’m over stealth games. Fighting games are ok with couch coop, otherwise nah

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Sports sims.

Racing isn’t far behind, but there’s more of a hook there than in the named genre above.
This.

Also old RTSs where the winner was the one capable of producing more units in less time. I prefer others liek Company of Heroes or Dawn of War, those felt more strategic.

Same.

I love the gameplay loop of JRPGs but I can't stand the storylines at all.

I guess just the sports games. Something like Madden just does nothing for me.

I would have said racing sims, but I guess every now and then I can get into one. Arcade racers are fun.

MOBAs.

It was a fun little Warcraft 3 mod that spawned one of the worst communities in video games. They're RTS games for people who can't play RTS games and the "just sift through 100 hours of misery and you'll start enjoying the game bro" mentality is retarded. Fuck all MOBAs.

Sports games like the stuff that EA Sports is putting out. I do like arcade Golf games though (Neo Turf Masters!). I also resent MOBAs and Battle Royale games.

Sports games with the exception of Motorsports. Bores me to tears.

JRPG. I’m never had the patience to learn how it works.

Multiplayer games, especially competitive modes in fps.
Can't stand not playing games at my own pace, taking my time to explore, looking at details, thinking just about competing and tolerating cheaters and people with terrible behaviour (if you're not playing with your friends).

Frankly, it would be a longer list than the genres I like with my narrow tastes. But in general I just couldn’t get into most PC centric genres. RTS, MOBAs, sim games, 4X games etc. I also hate PVP games as I’m just not a competitive person and don’t game to practice and get good as that feels like work to me.

These days I really only enjoy easier, story-driven games and occasionally and easier, charming gameplay-focused games (mostly Nintendo stuff on that front).

I want to chill out, relax and escape, so I’m not into challenging games, or demanding games with complex systems that require a lot of strategy, planning, problem solving etc. I tax those skills with my work and am usually mentally exhausted when it comes time for hobbies. Movies, shows etc are great for vegging out of course, but less demanding games are still king for me as the immersion and escapism is stronger for me.

Sports games. Unless they are arcade type games, which are rare these days. But no soccer. I hate soccer in all forms.

Ubisoft open world games. All of them.

rogue like games.

multiplayer focused games, although I’ll make an exception here and there. I like stuff like left for dead and dying light.

Visual Novels - first to go (spoiler alert: they aren’t games)

Sports games involving humans kicking, catching, hitting, or throwing a ball - just as boring as the TV equivalent.

Any game with an internet connected central element - the game will be unplayable in 5 years time in most cases

Sports games. Boring as fuck, as it's 75% menus and unskippable shit and 25% actual gameplay (most of the time).

Sports games - I hardly care about sports in general, so that's why.
MOBA games - The absolute worst for me. Now these games are actually all the exact same to me. Same shit, different skins.
Card games - Too random and based on chance.

I would like to mention Fighters. However, I can stand them very well, I just lack the interest in them. What I do admire is the high skill curve required to be really good at (some of) them.

Walking simulators.
Also games with so many cutscenes they might as well be interactive movies, and then get praised for being amazing even though their actual gameplay is mediocre and the story is just decent. But I guess they look flashy and pretty, so instant "g"oty.

Played God of War for about 7 minutes last night.

I literally can not understand how linear, single player games are a thing. Walk forward into a combat room, 1-6 mindless enemies spawn, defeat them, walk forward into next combat room...

Occasionally watch cutscene that makes those shitty Avengers movies look like Casablanca.

Roguelikes. Removing human creativity and design from the equation is lazy and soulless to me.

Weeb/waifu stuff if I'm even using the terms correctly. I can appreciate anime like Studio Ghibli, but I hate these childish and often sexualized aesthetics in many Japanese games these days. I think younger gamers need some self-reflection as to why this stuff has been pushed so hard and normalized in the last 10 years or so. It isn't considered normal in Japan either from what I gather.

Sports games and racing games.

sport games because there’s just not a whole lot to them (plus football bores me IRL)

and racing games are usually boring unless I can throw items at other drivers

EverydayBeast

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Loot and grind I see them being died out down the road, chomping at fake currency, including farming is going to always be terrible the only thing that can make looting and grinding fun is specific tasks that applies to bettering your character.

Sports games, racing, puzzle, MP-games like Fortnite and LoL, fighting, FPS such as CoD and Battlefield, Visual novels.

I know I’m gonna get some hate for this but jrpgs. I use to love them but as I got older the voice work is so cringe and they have so much filler. I feel like 99% of them should be shrunk by 40% and they would be better games. It’s like they are just makeing them bigger just to make them bigger. The stories made sense as well back in the day but now they just don’t have the weight of say a pillars of eternity or BioWare rpg, Witcher etc. again just my opinion. I know people like them and I understand why but just not for me anymore

Sports games - Because when they give time to them at presentations that is time not given to RPG/Action/ Strategy/FPS games.

Gatcha - Grinding. Nope. Locking interesting stories behind phone/timed mechanics (Hogwarts Mystery, Fate Grand Order).

Battle Royale - Their immense profits and popularity.

Very concerned Gatcha and Battle Royal will end conventional single player games due to their sheer profit as Devs and Publishers focus on bigger markets. Indie developers will have to reach the skill and quality of AAA developers of the late 90s/early 2,000s to keep the single player game market alive.

Good news is, there are a lot of pretty good to amazing indie games that have come out.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Chiming in with another "sports games". I don't like watching or following sports anyway (soccer, baseball, basketball, football, etc.) so the games they represent literally do nothing for me.

Hardcore racing sims. I hate them, I want to put my foot on the accelerator and take a corner at 100 mph, ram my opponent off the track and launch my car through the air over the finishing line to take first place. Daft as hell but fun. Racing sims though, I've played a few and can't for the life of me understand how anybody can get enjoyment out of fucking with your vehicle suspension, gearbox, clutch, understeer, exhaust width, type of coils, etc, etc on the car before even racing it and at that if you as much as breath on your controller you violently veer off the track and your 'game' is over in an instant.

Absolute arsehole of a genre.
