Also Insomniac hinting at a 1080p, 60 FPS Ray Traced Mode?

with ray tracing would be sweetYeah 1080p 60fps mode is ideal as a 3rd option on consoles.
Agree, a mode for 1080p, 60fps and RT in all XSX and PS5 games will be dope.Yeah 1080p 60fps ray tracing mode is ideal as a 3rd option on consoles.
I really want to know why there are no 1440p 60 fps options for these ray traced games. Where is the bottleneck?
I literally have it next to PS4 (kid's copy) and refused to play it this entire time. Reason: I always knew it would be worth waiting to play it on next gen, just like the original Last of Us was at the time. That looks fantastic!
Never played it on the PS4, will surely be giving it a go on the PS5.
Because Sony doesn’t support 1440p.if a game is native 4k 30 fps, you shouldnt need to go all the way down to 1080p 60 fps with ray tracing.

Sony has multiple games that render 1440p and output to 4k though.Because Sony doesn’t support 1440p.
sony doesnt support 1440p tvs. they support 1440p resolution which will get upscaled to 4k on 4k tvs.Because Sony doesn’t support 1440p.
Better textures, better character models, enhanced lighting and moreSo is it the PS4 build with RT?

That’s the point. Down to the road we would see dynamic 4K with 60fps and RT. Even when Sony add 1440p support I guess it will be the same as Xbox’s solution, e.g. down sampling from 4K.sony doesnt support 1440p tvs. they support 1440p resolution which will get upscaled to 4k on 4k tvs.
Like, Miles Morales better textures, models, etc?Better textures, better character models, enhanced lighting and more
Ray tracing is very expensive.if a game is native 4k 30 fps, you shouldnt need to go all the way down to 1080p 60 fps with ray tracing.

Ray tracing is very expensive.
Also in simplistic terms 1080p 60fps = 1/2 of 4k 30fps of pixels drawn on screen. So you would be using the GPU performance saved to implement Ray tracing.
Edit: You can only pick 2
1. 4k
2. 60fps
3. Ray Tracing
you dont have to tell me. ive been playing ray traced games for two years on my rtx 2080. typically though, bringing the resolution down to 1440p from native 4k brings the framerate up by 2x. its just the way it works.Ray tracing is very expensive.

What was wrong before?I want to know if they increased the overall polygon count of buildings /character models.
Looks nice though.
I dont think either $500 console are equivalent to a nvidia 2080 when it comes to its Ray Tracing performance.you dont have to tell me. ive been playing ray traced games for two years on my rtx 2080. typically though, bringing the resolution down to 1440p from native 4k brings the framerate up by 2x. its just the way it works.

no one is saying that. we are talking about halving the resolution and gaining 2x the framerate. that is basically how games have worked since forever.I dont think either $500 console are equivalent to a nvidia 2080 when it comes to its Ray Tracing performance.
I know the ray traced reflections are nice and all, but i dont know how anyone would pick that over the 60fps mode. 60fps just looks so much better.
