It seems a lot XSX games are not optimized and have bugs. There are a lot more crashing on XSX for Watchdogs too.

Did some math in the other thread and it seems the Xbox might need to drop to 1200p in this area to make up the 25% gap in framerate AND eliminate tearing.

They will need to drop resolution by 30% in order to gain 30% more framerate to be over 60 fps at all times in order to avoid tearing.

30% of 1440p or 3.6 million pixels is 2.5 million pixels which is just over the 2.1 million pixels 1080p has.

If I had to guess, a resolution drop that low is probably something MS wasn't ok with and told the AC team they had to stick with 1440p as the minimum and that is whats causing issues.

So the dynamic scaling could get lows of near 1080p just to maintain 60fps?

yeah. i found that odd too. the ps5 goes down to 58 fps once or twice during that section but then again the xbox version dips to 46 at its worse.

60 vs 48 = 25%
58 vs 46 = 26%

I dont understand how he is doing his math. If anything the PC is virtually locked at 60 fps while dropping frames maybe once or twice during that 30 second scene where as the xbox literally sits at 47-48 the entire time.

Damn...

Crying "tools" can't explain losing a "2 TF advantage"...on top of performing up to 26 percent worse.... that's a big performance delta gap in favor of PS5.

The only thing that's starting to make sense are KittyYuko's leak on XSX architecture (RDNA1 CU's, Render back-ends RDNA 2).... which pretty much buttresses what MLiD said.... Xbox Series X is a server blade APU dressed up as a console.

I mean if you look at the fine print marketing from MS they do say it's "the most powerful Xbox ever".... only on interviews and live talk do representatives from Microsoft stretch the word usage to suggest the most powerful console (over PS5). Probably one of the biggest narratives cons ever. And the media parroted it like clockwork.

One curious thing is that neither console can reach 4K. I think dynamic resolution will be used very often throughout this generation. Maybe they can come with better upscaling algorithms in the future.

Even on PC, 4K 60 is a huge struggle. Some sort of DLSS equivalent is the future for all platforms rather than a native resolution.

Damn, pretty noticeable difference.
I was actually on the camp that was sure Series X would be the slightly better third party machine. Guess I was wrong.

At least they do say that if you have a VRR display it pretty much solves the issue on Series X (or at least makes much less noticeable)

VRR might make tearing not noticeable, but the frame-rate still drops....

Round 1, this is a beatdown, a Knock out punch, this is some Roy jones jnr beat down and dance moves going on here from Sony.

After all the rubbish about 12 tflops, the beast, it's more like the taming of the shrew.

Where is your 30% better performance that xbox was meant to have, its 15%+ in favor of sony in parts of that video?

That's almost 50% off what you said it would be. 50 fucking % more dude. You call that a round 1. What kind of boxing matches do you watch.

You spent months waring, talking rubbish, spreading lies and fud.

You earned this knock out, this beat down, its all on you "lollipop_disappointed:

Thats not how console development works. If not, PS2 and PS3 would be called dead at launch.
You cant nail it down on day 1, on x-gen games, on new tools.

Let's see round 2, 3, 4, and so forth. 🤷‍♀️
Anyway, the alarm has sounded at Redmond, MS will response, they have always under Phil.

I think at its best it looks great , maybe first game I get on PS5
it doesnt use the dual sense features which is extremely disappointing. i still have it wrapped. i will open it when they add the features. it really adds to the combat in demon souls.

Why is Series S slipping under the radar? Just over 1080p at 30fps isn't great performance this early on in the game.
yep. They said that everything was identical and it would scale down magically. I got a warning and a ban for losing my shit over it. I didnt contest it then because i may have gone overboard but can I get it reversed now that I was proven right? lol

im not an armchair analyst. I am a software developer who works on 3d applications ( mostly medical now)and hobbies with game development.

but none of that matters when I just clearly pointed it out in the image. you can see more detail in the XsX dof on the same bitmap grass at the same distances. you can even see it ont he tree shadow.
Dude if nx gamer and Df say they are the same, then they are the same, no one cares about a xbox fanboy crying in the forums.

They take averages of scenes, not the lowest single frame.

Obviously. But in that scene, if the PS5 is averaging 60 FPS, and the XSX is only 15% worse, that would mean that it's averaging 51 FPS. But it's below 50fps during the whole scene, going as low as 46 FPS. 48 FPS isn't the lowest single frame.

Very little analise to be fair.

- Equal visuals.
- Dynamic resolution: 1440p mininum / 1728p maximum.
- Says pixles count doesn't matter anymore (of course PS5 is leading).
- Xbox framerate is worst.
- At best PS5 has 15% performance advantage in framerate over Xbox in identical scenarios.
- Tons of screen tearing on Xbox... very little on PS5.
- Thinks the resolution needs to be dropped below 1440p.
- Thinks the game needs a lot of work specially in Xbox.
- Camera motion doesn't update linear to framerate in Xbox during cutscenes (it is synced in PS5).

They really added very little.

So far it looks like PS5 might be better for multi platform games, exclusives, the controller and UI. We will need to see more games but early signs point to this.

Definitely need to see more games. I think before this comparison, everyone would agree that Ubisoft is not the greatest performance benchmark, but I was at least expecting parity, God damn! this is not a good look for Series X :messenger_grimmacing_

I would agree if it was less pixels, but many people cannot stand tearing.

I can deal with framerate dips or lower resolution with good scaling tech far more the tearing. Tearing has always been an immersion breaking sore spot for me the most in gaming.

Ok, 15% performance difference is not negligible anymore.

It is a small difference. The problem is that these forums have been pestered by Xbox warriors that were selling the Series X as the second coming of Christ and Phil Spencer as god himself. But that's not the worse of it, it's the amount of BULLSHIT people had to put up with: The manufactured arguments, the lies and deception, the out of context information, all in defense of their machine. Now reality hits hard, as predicted, and people are salty.
