Has GAF looked at demoting members rather than banning in some instances?
Like drop them back to the status they have when first signed up? Then they have to earn their member status back?
Just a thought.

Some get thread creation privileges removed, reply bans to certain topics - not quite the same but similar.

Our group, in my hood, growing up, had Italian, Black, Portuguese, Native, Syrian, etc. Everyone got along just fine. And now the media here is infested with North American styled Identity Politics and everyone is fighting and not getting along anymore. We had many good things to import from the U.S. but they decided only to import the rotten race theory shit.

I must say last year or so I've become very worried about the US exporting their race based neurosis to the rest of the world.
Critical race theory is absolute poison. I hope not but I am afraid that it will lead to repetitions of Hutu/Tutsi scenario in many countries.

We probably don't want to have a conversation in an official channel, but it isn't our neurosis. It popped up in every western country at about the same time, earlier this decade. If anything, we've consistently pushed back on it the hardest (or at all, compared to the others) hence why the weak Reee about the US at every turn.

I relate, though. You don't want your citizens to all hate each other along the lines of skin color, and have that reinforced by academics, instititions, news, and every branch of entertainment.

It's crazy how it sounds when you say it out loud, but here we are.

I never understood this as well. It's like Tyler the Creator says: "Just walk away from the computer"
I love Tyler, his lyrics especially have helped me and given me good advice.

My favourite piece of Tyler advice was a bit of Sex-Ed talk on how to engage in a threesome.

"Rape a pregnant bitch and tell my friends I had a threesome"

Jokes aside I am so glad Tyler has moved on from this shit, Flowerboy and IGOR remain masterful albums!

Why people are requesting bans? Is it easier to just stop to read and/or post?

I did one for several months here and other sites as I want having fun on forums any more but couldn’t stay away after two+ decades of being very active on forums.

Helped me break the addiction and now I waste way less time online. Usually just skim a couple times a day, post pretty infrequently bs a bunch daily etc.

That's why <95% of my internet activity is while I'm at work, this way all my free time is literally free for anything.

That was a main part of the issue for me. As a professor slacking off at work just leads to stress and rushing to meet deadlines, getting behind on writing/publishing where I need to be productive for raises and promotion etc. I wouldn't mind if I had a typical desk job with less than 8 hours of focused work to get done each day like some of my friends.
