Did CDPR just...massively tank PC performance because of one wrong config file?

That exactly why I don’t like to play games on PC.

But it is really nice to these that play on it.

IMO CDPR should detect the CPU/GPU RAM and use the settings based in that and not in a config file.

If I have a 8GB GPU the game should run automatically knowing it has 8GB GPU to use.

Yeah - having the option to potentially unlock your hardware to course correct a developer's oversights and/or shortcomings... what a flaw. Best to just live in a closed ecosystem.

This is a benefit, not a fault. Nobody is forced to do this if they don't want to.

PCMR forever.

At least there’s a fix for it.

You can’t even fix this shit without buying a 500 dollar console you can’t even find without paying high end PC rig prices.

I'm guessing this won't improve rtx performance at all?

People LOVE pretending that consoles NEVER have issues. As if CoD wasn't bricking PS5's a few weeks ago, as if Miles Morales wasn't hard crashing PS5's a few weeks ago, as if the console version of CP77 is SO well optimized right now, fuckin lul. Everyone is having bumps and bruises right now. It happens.

I play my PS5 more than any other platform in the time since I owned it, I love it, but I will always love PC gaming too. Trying to paint it as a universally complex experience across the board for everyone is pretty disingenuous.

Yeah - I'm not opposed to consoles. I grew up on Nintendo/Sony, and morphed into a PC/Xbox fanboy. I'm always ready to defend Xbox here when I feel it's right.

I'll just never understand why people prefer the streamlined/less options route overall. I get it, less risk, I guess? People make playing games on PC seem like its a chore. Lord forbid you click on something to install a driver once or twice a year. It's actually more annoying playing something on my One S tbh, using a gamepad to type, etc. I've never had any major PC concerns and I've been doing this for years.

Would make sense, didn't have a problem getting 60 fps with RT at launch but yesterday couldn't get it working for the life of me.

Nah sometimes it's a total chore.

People claims even 50% more FPS and much more stable framerate too... idk what to say anymore.

Im on a 3090 with 32gb of system RAM and even I was still getting the occassional stutter...usually in high crowd areas where its rained and the city is lit up at night. I can confirm this trick worked for me...Now its getting locked and running like the damn advertisements lol I been doin donuts for the past 30 minutes in the busiest areas while its wet out and everything is turned all the way up..No stutters, skips, nothing. I was usually able to to trip it up and make it skip doing that when showing a friend how it was happening..I can't get it to skip at all

And it was already loading fast since I got it on a speedy SSD. I'm goin back in to play some more lol

Maybe they planned to change the config to take advantage of more resources once they put a few patches out or something

Cause this feels amazing

Dear console players!

Editing .ini files is no harder than making a text note in your smartphone. It's even easier. Just open a folder, open a text file and type.

Editing of .ini files is normal in PC world and most of the times it has nothing to do with bugs!

I fondly remember playing with it even in Wither 3 to increase grass density and foliage.

Just imagine simply typing 3 instead of 1 and getting 3x the viewing distance if your rig is powerful enough? What's so bad about it? It's an amazingly liberating experience.

So please be free to wage your war on PC, but don't think that edition of .ini files is some kind of exhausting rocket science.

On the contrary, having active .ini files is a blessing and in some cases it helps to "fix" the game in couple of clicks instead of waiting for the "quick fix patch".

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
I remembered when I used to enjoy these things, so I played on PC. Nowadays I just expect things to work, and don’t have the patience I used to have.

I mean my PC ran the game smooth as butter on Day 1. High/Ultra settings, with RT off and DLSS on, and I'm cruising between 50-60 fps.

And this is on a RTX 2060 mind you.

Also weird that this would work since it says the Pools are not used on PC and Orbis. Denoted by that -1.

I mean, this shit is unbelievable lol. PC is really for enthusiasts or computer engineers hahaha

Yet even without these fixes the PC version smokes the shit out of the console version.

Care to elaborate? Most games are as simple as installing and playing.

Not really that naive are you? Look at some of the dedicated forums for ubisoft, steam, reddit. Look at any subreddit for any game, especially big games, the tech support, windows subreddit etc., and you'll find plenty of people having problems. And it's not always simple ones, sometimes it's obscure shit.

Not being naive whatsoever. I play mostly on PC and dont run into issues. My build isnt even top of the line. The only time I ever consult resources like that are for mods or trying to get something very old to run on modern hardware etc

I've got a 7700k and a 1080ti and am getting the shitty performance described by the reddit user. really shocked me reading through the PC impressions thread as while a bit older, my rig is still competent for nearly every other game, and people with lower specs are getting much better performance than I am

going to give this a shot and see if it fixes my problems

Who’s arguing that? The Console version of this game is trash tier.

Have you seen how the game runs on Playstation compared to PC?

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, kretos.

i play on PC too but instead of going through all this trouble if a game is unoptimized it instantly goes to wait and buy on sale list (15-20$) when the devs fix it, i don't have the patience for this any more

Crazy to see console champions in DF threads talking about how much better the PS5 version of a game is. Because of FPSl, better texture quality, the Series X version doesn't have muzzle flashes and what not. And then see them come into discussions like these and act like there isn't a difference between their PS5 and a well built gaming PC except for price.
