This is way I said it’s not an exact science. The two other posts I quoted just from today are probably not hardware related. It’s nowhere near 10% hardware issues. It can’t be that high. There would be overheating and bricked consoles like crazy. Well in my case it was the dreaded CE-108262-9...
If you look at the posts, 90 % of them are either xbox fans, trolls or there is even a guy claiming he has had 3 fails, he is in xbox discord and follows other xbox trolls. When you challenge and ask for proof, they report and you get thread banned. He even claims the whine amplifies through his speakers - LOL.
No other site has this issue, and yet its a daily FUD on GAF - clean it up. 1 % consumer failure is normal, every xbox fan is just silly now.

You could win all your disputes in one shot with proving your have a ps5 with your psn ID.
But you wont, and never will. With 3 fails you could get a nice article written, but you wont, because they will want proof.
My suggestion to prove fail complainers have a ps5 to a mod would make such threads sensible and helpful, every one would beleive and help if you are unfortunate, but you seem to revel in it .....

Actually, most people aren't paying any attention.
I think asking mods to request PSN User IDs and verify that people really have PS5s is a bit much.

Communities seems pretty unnecessary to me. Being gaming and random communities is an odd hodgepodge and it's not like the front pages of gaming or off topic will ever be as crazy fast moving as they were in the past. If it were up to me, I'd try just moving the still active community threads to gaming and off topic and see if they pick up more activity being more visible. I rarely even think to click and check communities.
To me it really only made sense in the peak days where those community threads would get buried deeply behind the onslaught of new threads every day. At the pace of GAF (and traditional forums in general with people having moved onto social media, discord, reddit etc.) I think the community threads worth having would stay pretty visible in gaming and off topic. Just my two cents as there are probably a few I'd post in if I saw them regularly in gaming or off topic, but I doubt I'll ever be bothered to add communities to my regular Gaf forum browsing.

Communities, once built, have a lot of pull. Think about this: the reset exodus was architected around the communities, using their individual discords as launching points. Hell I stopped posting here as much as I'd rather have stayed because the two communities I cared about were moving.

I get that, I just don't know that they need to be in their own subforum. Couldn't they potentially get built back up faster if they were just in gaming and off topic where they got more visibility?
The really niche ones are just not going to thrive as it takes a HUGE member base to keep any niche community alive and most of that crowd has gone to discord and niche subReddits these days. But I bet some of the community threads that stay on the first page of the communities subforum regularly (like the Fitness thread, Destiny 2 thread) would also regularly be on the first page of off topic and gaming and likely get more posts as more members and guests would see them. The pro sports league threads as well--those used to be very active in the past on era, but mostly languish in communities here now.
I could be wrong though of course. *shrugs* Maybe it's just matter of communities likley always being slow unless there's a gigantic influx of members. Gaf is more active than the few other forums I still check out sometimes, so part of it is likely just an "it is what it is" thing with traditional forums these days. As much as I dislike big subReddits, it really is a great site for smaller, niche communities.

This is the funniest thing I've read all day.
I love my ps5 but I don't care if people say negative things about it. I read those dick measuring contests about resolutions, frame rate, and pixel count between games on series x and ps5 and have to roll my eyes a little bit because I'm just happy to have a console that plays games so well.

Got to disagree. Been here for a short time, but love the idea of communities. It's small little hubs where people can gather around a specific interest. I think they are a great idea. I like that there is a dedicated place for Horror for example with like minded folks.
Great to see this place still growing. It really is the best community out there I've found. There isn't a lot of good forums left now with everyone flocking to Reddit and Social Media. I really can't enjoy Reddit, there is no sense of community there. It's good to be a lurker but not a poster on there.
